Hoping no-one else has done this.

We need to get things organised for soop's return.

soop Mon 29-Nov-21 12:29:40

Love to you all. Awaiting the visit of the pal who will hopefully get our campaign underway. It will be a mighty big positive step. I shall return. x

Good morning/ afternoon, lovely Kitchen people, it's 7ish in Chicago. I'm still in PJs but need to get a wiggle on soon, time to pack and complete Passenger locator form with new information on our PCR tests on our return to Glasgow tomorrow morning. Family at home are keeping us informed about the new regulations which affect us as we are arriving after 4 am Tuesday. Such a worry about Omicron, I've just read online that Scotland has 6 cases?

We've had a wonderful family reunion this week, lots to be thankful for. We went to Mass yesterday, ? for all who need/ wish them. Later we visited the local theatre for their production of Beauty and the Beast, very professional and colourful, wonderful singing and dancing from a very talented cast of all ages.

Good luck for today, Soop, hope all goes well with your campaign manager! Things are moving along.

Blossoming, I hope your zoom class goes well, it sounds very interesting.

Urms, I'm glad you now feel ready to come out of hibernation.

I hope everyone is safe and warm and not too troubled by the wintry weather. Thanks again for all your good wishes about our trip.

I'll catch up more tomorrow after our return cos we have to isolate until we get our negative PCR results. ?? Everyone wears masks in Chicago, even young children, in shops, public transport, even in the streets, quite reassuring.

TOYA, take care.

Blossoming Mon 29-Nov-21 14:09:08

Hope your Crowdfunding setup is successful today soop. Safe journey home Granmarie it sounds like a wonderful trip. I’m glad you got to see your family before any new restrictions, I think mask wearing is a good idea at the moment, wish people here were more open to it. Personally I never stopped but I don’t get out very often.

This morning’s Zoom meeting went very well, the lady instructor is lovely. She told us a bit about how the sessions are structured, then asked us to each say how we heard about the program and what we hoped to get out of it. It was interesting hearing everyone’s story and not at all daunting telling mine. We are all in the same boat after all. She then talked briefly about how and why people develop diabetes later in life. Next session next Monday. An hour long web meeting is quite tiring for me, off to rest my eyes now smile

TOYA

Beautiful children Grandmabatty and baby I’d going to have his big brother’s colouring.
He looks so proud.
No more GC for me and GGC aren’t on the card either.

Grandmabatty Mon 29-Nov-21 14:39:43

Annsixty I suspect they might be the only two I have! My son shows little sign of settling down.

Charleygirl5 Mon 29-Nov-21 14:41:41

I agree, he loves looking after his baby brother who probably does little more than sleep! It will be a while before he can play with him as he would obviously like.

Susan56 Mon 29-Nov-21 14:42:32

Just popped in to see if there is any news from soop.

Beautiful picture Grandmabatty??

Safe travels home Granmarie.

Hope the test is negative Dogsmakemesmile.

We are in Staffordshire looking after Barnaby. We arrived to snow so anxious to set off home as soon as DD or SIL get home from work. We’ve had a quiet day,we all nodded off at one point! Both our DD’s and families have been to Center Parcs and B is tired after a few days of activities with his cousins.

Will call in later to see if there is any news from soop.

Grannmarie Mon 29-Nov-21 14:46:07

What handsome boys, Grandmabatty, big brother looks so proud and delighted!

Blossoming, your course sounds excellent, very supportive and informative. Zoom is the way to go!

Tilly, we've enjoyed every minute, lots of family reminiscing as well as amazing sight seeing at the weekend. So very thankful.

Now comes the scary bit, I'm not a big fan of flying, especially overnight. Wish we could just ' Beam me up, Scotty'.
Still, I'm looking forward to getting home and seeing my family and DGC after our isolation.

My sister in law has made lots of lovely pancakes for breakfast, with scrambled eggs, and bacon, so I've left some covered plates on the table for all you lovely Kitchen people, enjoy an all day breakfast !

soop Mon 29-Nov-21 17:13:11

Grandmabatty Adorable, cuddlesome, precious wee ones. I can feel your pleasure. smile

Granmarie We are all delighted that your visit has given you and the family so much pleasure. We also look forward to you returning to the kitchen. Our thoughts are with you.

Blossoming A giant positive step in the right direction. Good for you.

You lovely lot continue to keep me on the right track. Our friend has only just called in and has taken away the information that we have drafted. He will phone tomorrow to discuss any tweeking that he deems necessary.

It has been a tiring day. Hope springs eternal. I shall return tomorrow and share further news with you.

smile moon

I’ve had a good but busy day, a splash around in the warm pool at the gym and then a good catch up with my friend. Homemade fish and chips for tea and I’m really hungry so it won’t last long!

Well done blossoming?

Grannmarie Mon 29-Nov-21 18:18:17

Thank you, Soop, YiaYia and Brook, thanks again to all you lovely Kitchen people for your good wishes, it means a lot.

We have just completed the challenge that is the Passenger Locator Form...hard work, lots of extra documentation required for the return journey.

I look forward to catching up with Kitchen tomorrow while I isolate. TOYA and an early NNGB. ???

Safe journey Grannmarie, the flight will pass in a flash, I’ve enjoyed your tales and pictures, thank you.
A beautiful picture of the two boys Grandmabatty, how chuffed the eldest one looks!
Well done Blossoming a positive step with those in the same boat.
A cold day here, warming up tomorrow, momentarily.

Nannagarra Mon 29-Nov-21 19:09:49

A photograph of two beautiful grandsons, Grandmabatty. Some images stand out, don’t they, just as this one does.

Nannytopsy Mon 29-Nov-21 22:25:40

Good evening everyone! There’s a chocolate cake in the cake tin for elevenses tomorrow ( or for breakfast! ?) You can guess we have DGC tomorrow after school until Wednesday morning.
A lovely day here, if chilly, so we carpe -ed diem and went out to a local nature reserve with binoculars and warm coats. Good range of ducks, a kingfisher and a redpoll - a good haul!
Good luck tomorrow soop and sleep tight everyone.

Urmstongran Mon 29-Nov-21 22:45:38

‘Evening All’

A delicious meal tonight of pork chops with cabbage. Ooh to taste and smell and enjoy my food once more is an absolute delight Jax! So much so we even had pudding - chopped banana with hot custard.

I’m off out for a walk tomorrow. Definitely. Wet & milder is our forecast so I shall wrap up accordingly and get myself back into the Land of the Living. Actually I’m looking forward to it. I’ve finished all 50 episodes of ‘Better Call Saul’.

maddyone Mon 29-Nov-21 23:49:52

Grandmabatty what a lovely picture. Enjoy your two beautiful grandchildren.

Granmarie safe flight home tomorrow.

Good night everyone, have a good sleep.

SueDonim Tue 30-Nov-21 00:06:59

Just popping in again. We had to cut short out trip down south because of Storm Arwen and came back last night. With the extra miles because of closed roads it was well over 550 miles. The house was a heady 7deg when we got in. I got the coal fire going and we slept in the sitting room. The cat got into ‘bed’ with me and purred all night.

There’s no forecast of when we’ll get power and other services back so my dd arranged for us to stay somewhere near her, where we could bring the cat. That was another 100 mile drive this morning, on no breakfast until we found a cafe that had power.

Contents of both fridge freezers have had to be binned, apart from some meat I managed to salvage and bring down to dd to cook and freeze. It could be worse though. A friend who grows all her own fruit and veg has lost an entire year’s worth of produce.

There’s been little help from the council or government. Care home residents have had no heating, hot food or drink since Friday. sad Almost all support has been from private individuals - thank goodness for those generous souls.

Marydoll Tue 30-Nov-21 00:58:15

Sue, how awful for you. You must be exhausted. Life is so hard just now. ?

TillyTrotter Tue 30-Nov-21 06:55:11

So shocked to read your account of what it’s like in your area SueD. You surely cannot be left that way for days on end?
I really feel for you and your community.
Your dd was brilliant, acting quickly and finding somewhere for you and your cat.
Got everything crossed ? to hear better news from you later today.
These won’t help - but sending you ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Nov-21 07:26:17

Oh dear SueDonim I do hope your situation is sorted soon.
I saw a piece on the news last night regarding care homes, those poor folks.
