I’ve had my booster and flu jabs today, at long last. The flu arm is sore but no other side effects so far. I’m going to London next week so this feels like a bit of extra armour.

Paw’s name was Rupert and I was very touched when D3 named her first baby (whom Paw never even knew about) Otis Rupert.
for Jaxjacky - however expected it is still a great sadness to lose a loved family member.

Pizzas are in the oven. Ready in ten minutes then I shall continue binge watching ‘The Crown’. I seem to have developed a tickly cough so I popped down to Boots an hour ago for a soothing old fashioned syrup. Hope it does the trick.

I have some good news here. My new baby Grandson Rupert was born at 6.15pm yesterday weighing in at just over 7 pounds. Ellie is excited about her baby brother but hasn't met him yet .My husband and I are flying over tomorrow

Darling you lot, thank you from the bottom (of my heart) for your wonderful support.

We continue to compile the in-depth list of procedures over the last ten years. Mr Soop is very "with it" and his eloquence helps enormously.

We may go down the Crowd Funding route. It is not something we are familiar with. I would much prefer to pay my way, but, that is an almighty big ask. I need to ask the private surgeon to give me some idea of time scale. There is a huge amount of preparation required before we can make a final decision.

Once again, thank you for being truly good friends. I have noted the organisations to which I may refer for further direction and assistance.

I send special thoughts to Jax and her family at this very sad time. Also to our dear Panache

I am aware James McCourtney is private only but Andrew Renwick, NHS, may be a name your GP is familiar with.

I do like the sound of your plan of action - no more nice guy & gal - is often what is needed to get things done. So weary and exhausting for your. Rest up when you can and take care of each other. x

Gout is extremely painful Blossoming. My mother has it, and it flares up from time to time. Sometimes a course of steroids calms it down. I hope your painkillers work and give you some relief.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. This morning I took my painful foot to the GP following some sleepless nights and excruciating pain. It seems I most probably have gout! I haven’t been swilling buckets of wine and scoffing enormous T-bone steaks. There are a combination of factors, including kidney disease, hypertension and my medication, that make me vulnerable to this. He has prescribed some pain killers that won’t impact on my existing health conditions and won’t interact with my meds and Mr. B is going to collect them this afternoon. I need to have another blood test in 4 weeks to check uric acid levels and a few other things that I can’t remember. There are drugs to lower uric acid, but they are for life and I don’t want to have to go down that route if I can control it with diet and exercise.

Condolences to you and your family Jax, it doesn’t matter how expected it was, the loss of a loved one is still so shocking.

Hope soop has had a good rest after recent events.

So sorry Jax although it was expected it still comes as a shock.

DH’s mother was 94 when she died and it is a great age to have reached as others have said.
It’s still sad when a loved one’s life ends. ?

My MiL died last week. She was 94 and poorly, so not really unexpected, but it’s still a shock isn’t it? She leaves a 94 year old and frail husband. I feel very sorry for him, but on the positive side they enjoyed over seventy years of married life, and at least were able to spend lockdown together, unlike my own 94 year old mother.
It’s sad times Jax.
I hope you get the treatment you need soon soop.

Thankyou Yia, I did post on Good Morning, my dear FIL died this morning. MrJ will fly over on Thursday, the funeral will be swift.

DH has the super cold and is very grumpy.I’m trying to dose him up as we have a birthday lunch for our twin sons on Sunday.Plenty of honey and lemon with a touch of brandy at night.!!

Panache I am so sorry that you are battling yet more problems.
So many kitcheners facing problems which I suppose we must all expect as the years go by but it is not easy.
I can only offer a but it comes with a hug to all who could do with one.

As for us we are battling on with the house adaptations and have been clearing out our sitting and dining rooms which are the last of our floors to be lifted in the morning so we now have nowhere at all to sit except our bed for the next little while - how long you ask - no idea! Very glad we have a very good bed but it seems a funny time of life to be confined there.
The next three weeks will see the culmination of the work within the house except for the decorators who will hopefully be finished and away before Christmas.
So much furniture moved around and poor DD has been using her dad’s crutches during the day while he doesn’t need them after a heavy sofa fell on her foot and apparently damaged the tendons. I am still not convinced it isn’t broken.
It has made me realise just how much we have come to rely on her and makes me feel that we have leant on her too much.
I think that in the morning I may well have to take us all out in the car to preserve our sanity when the hammering, circular saws and angle grinders start being used!

soop I hope that your GP will really work hard for you and get you seen by the best possible person very soon.

soop you need not worry. If anyone in the kitchen needs support, you know all of us will be on hand to give it, just as you have always done for us.
You have enough to think about at the moment so concentrate on yourself. Hope your GP can help. x
