Good morning from a grey, damp and misty NE.
DS and family visited yesterday afternoon after viewing more houses and GDs were tired and cold when they arrived.
I have the house to myself today so will catch up on some TV and try and relax.

Good morning everyone from a beautifully sunny and mild south Manchester. Just gorgeous.

Today would have been my mum’s birthday. Our youngest daughter suggested we all eat together today, including grandpa. I know he’s looking forward to seeing the children. Himself cooked a huge pan of chilli in readiness yesterday , so no cooking for me or our daughter today. Good man.

Happy birthday Nannagarry ??? and commiserations to Marydoll hope you feel better soon it’s a horrid condition.

Good morning from a grey, but dry and mild Colchester.
Much scurrying about upstairs as DH and DS dress for the town Remembrance Parade. As this is a garrison town it's a big thing but my men always leave preparation for the last minute.
DS is a serving sailor but his uniform has just been taken out of the bag creased. DH is a volunteer with the air cadets and he is trying to pin a poppy and his medals on a great coat...he'll be sweltering.
I'm enjoying a cuppa as I'm dressed and ready to go!
After lunch we'll be packing up the bathroom ready for work to start tomorrow and packing our bags for a fortnight away.

Looking forward to roast chicken cooked by DH tonight.

Good morning everyone from a grey but dry Northampton.

Looking forward to going out for a family lunch today to celebrate elder DGD's 14th birthday, which was on Friday. Our first meal out together for what seems an age. Shall wear the new dress I got this week.

Sadly my lucky socks failed to do the trick at rugby yesterday, but I enjoyed my chips and red wine at half time! At least it stayed dry. Got home and was in time to watch the second half of the England/Australia match.

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. The autumn colours are exceptionally beautiful this year. I think it's because we haven't yet had a frost. The wind can blow the leaves but a frost kills them and they fall.

I shall attend a zoom service. I have 2 French girls staying one of whom lost 2 DGP in the Vietnam war, long before she was born. Her DF was rescued by French Christians as a boy and brought to France but brought up by the priests.

DS is collecting me and DMiL to watch a movie and have tea at his house later.

So sorry to hear you have been unwell again Marydoll. Get back to us soon.

Good morning Mick and all. The sun is shining here in Lancashire. I had a poor night due to a sore foot. I took Co Codamol around 4am and eventually dropped off to sleep. I’m enjoying a mug of tea, have taken my meds and will try to grab a couple more hours shuteye.

Oops! I thought my first post didn't work but now I see I've done it twice!

We have DS staying which was a blessing as he could deal with DH falling out of bed. On my own I would have had to get paramedics to help which would have involved a long wait.

Decision has been made to place DH in a local nursing home for a couple of weeks respite which will not only give my back a chance to heal but allow me time to find some support at home. DH has yet to be told and won’t be very co-operative but the support of both children means I will see it through. Think of me today trying to explain to a confused 86 year old that he is not being abandoned and that this is in his long term best interests. I foresee a difficult few days ahead.

So sorry Marydoll is feeling fragile ans hope she feels better soon. It’s a lovely morning here so I hope all the visits and arrangements work out well for everyone.

Will be meeting my family for lunch later. My daughter is better now and will return to nursing tomorrow.

Good morning all, pretty dull here just now , but it will soon be on the other side and days will be longer again !
My new curtains are becoming a pain , the blackout linings might be too heavy , I think I might need a new rail , one is coming off at the end after I opened it this morning , my Daughter will fix it , but the accompanying muttering and scoldings are to be expected , I’ll zip the replies !

Good morning Mick and all from a bright Carlisle where it is beginning to cloud over. Yesterday was a glorious sunny day. I went to the garden centre, had a coffee and festive scone then got the sacks of soil improver I'd come for. But of course it's a garden centre full of plants so naturally I came away with some, including a poinsettia and some cinnamon scented pine cones which, along with Christmas cards, will form my only decorations of the season.
There seems to have been a resurgence in the popularity of cacti. My large sunny kitchen window is already crammed but I don't want to go down the greenhouse route again, all that heating and insulating every winter. I used to have one full of cacti at one time but gradually got rid of them. I am drawn to prickly things, love hollies and roses too. Not sure what that says about me.
Today, I plan to fork in that soil improver and continue reading my new book...Vita Sackville-West's "All Passion Spent"...a very old lady taking her life into her own hands at last and contemplating the past. I'm not ready for contemplating away the day yet! Maybe in another 20 years or so...

It’s a little bit brighter here in Suffolk this morning. I am very late and need a shower before the Remembrance service at 10.50. Luckily we are about 30 seconds from the church and the memorial!

Wise decision GrannySomerset you are no use to your DH unless you are completely fit. He may surprise you and actually enjoy being looked after. My mum resisted care all her life but when her dementia was so bad she need to go into a care home she loved the attention she got there.

Just popping back with some ?? for nannagarra birthday celebrations ? and to wish GrannySomerset well with a difficult conversation on respite.

I think you really do need to look after yourself for a few weeks, a bad back is the most wearing of all ailments?

Good morning everyone from sunny Wiltshire, it was a lovely peaceful walk with the puppy this morning.
Quiet day here, will watch the Remembrance Day on television as I usually do. Then I guess it’s get something for lunch - I have no idea what as I have had a horrible cold and it’s all a bit meh.
I need really to start tidying the garden too, but I still have roses flowering along with several other plants like penstemon and wind anemones so I am reluctant to do much out there.

Good morning all from a greyish Glasgow, being surrounded by trees now showing glorious hues of autumn leaves is so uplifting on gloomy days.

DH bought two bags of chestnuts yesterday, something we haven’t had for years. DD1 and both girls arrived quickly when they heard what we were doing, roasting chestnuts on the fire pit was fun with delicious results.
GD2. (12) spotted the leaf blower and offered to help……I wish she hadn’t bothered, leaves flying everywhere! ?

I’m sat watching the cenotaph on TV and sad to see HM won’t be there.
After that we have to go B&Q for bits to fix my wardrobe oh joy but I do want to look in the garden section too with the festivities coming up.
