Have you seen the reports showing her performing on the street. Sucking a baby’s bottle and talking gibberish. Why would anyone think this was a good idea? It’s absolutely cringe worthy.

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:59:07

No, it’s not a lie. Harry and Meghan were allowed to keep their titles, but not use their titles. I assume that was to try to prevent them making money from the use of their titles.
I agree that many people believe they should lose their titles, but that is very different from just not using their titles. Apart from anything else, I understand that in order for their titles to be removed, it would require an Act of Parliament, however feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on that one.

Alegrias1 Fri 19-Nov-21 10:53:29

No maddyone, I won't give up.

A bunch of rabble rousing papers said that they thought the Queen should remove their titles just to get people going. She never did. They are still Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

So its just another smear, isn't it?

And if people believe that lie, they'll believe others. About much more important things that what the Royals decide to call themselves.

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:49:15

Oh give up Alegrias. It was all over the every news outlet at the time that Harry and Meghan left. I’m not going digging to find one particular source when everyone and his dog knows this because it was widely reported.

Alegrias1 Fri 19-Nov-21 10:44:36

I would prefer if Meghan didn’t use her title as she was asked not to by the Queen.

Source?

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:37:25

I thought the It’s a Royal Knockout which was done years ago was absolutely cringe worthy then. I didn’t see Meghan’s latest interview (didn’t see the first one either) but it also sounds cringe worthy. It seems to me that Meghan likes to be in the spotlight.

Oh Josianne I’m ‘barmy’ am I sad

What I say Fanny can be deemed crazy too, so your comments are in good company. Notice I didn't say YOU. grin

merlotgran Fri 19-Nov-21 10:36:42

as I had a pile on for being racist when innocently calling Omid Whatever "Scooby Do”

Good job Morecambe and Wise aren’t still around then.

I don’t remember Faye Dunawaywith causing any accusations of misogyny.

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:33:39

Haha, just remembered, I saw the short clip on The Jeremy Vine show yesterday.

FannyCornforth Fri 19-Nov-21 10:33:30

Oh well, I haven’t been insulted on here for a while

I watched Sky news and didn’t see it featured. It sounds pretty awful. I imagine HM etc will be cringing. I’m very disappointed that it doesn’t seem to have included further instalments of ‘her truth’.?

This time round Germanshepherdsmum I reckon HM will be happily swinging from the chandeliers that M & H are far enough removed for her to not even notice the silly interview. Bad back permitting!

seacliff Fri 19-Nov-21 10:28:12

At least she's given us all a new topic to discuss grin.

Apparently Ellen has done these "fun" things with other "celebrities" too. If I'm very bored some time, I may try and watch over or two, then the MM one, to see if they crack me up. I think Americans possibly have a different sense of humour to me.

Josianne Fri 19-Nov-21 10:26:08

I would say that for my sins I do take an over avid interest in gossipy celebrity stuff, but that is along with tons of other stuff. I also knew nothing much about Ellen de Whatever. I have only just found out she is gay. I assume the Degenerate surname is being banded about in the media and readers just pick up on it and use it, like on here. They might have just meant Ellen is scraping the barrel with her style. Calling a poster out for using degenerate in the context of her being gay is as perplexing as it is barmy. Just as I had a pile on for being racist when innocently calling Omid Whatever "Scooby Doo."

maddyone Fri 19-Nov-21 10:24:15

Was the interview actually shown in this country? I saw a tiny clip of it, can’t remember where, maybe SkyNews (maybe not!)
I would prefer if Meghan didn’t use her title as she was asked not to by the Queen. Fat chance of that, in my humble opinion.

Yeah, fair enough.

I didn't watch Breakfast TV hmm

Its always the same story... you can't get away from it, its everywhere..

Its not, really its not. The only place I've seen any discussion about it is on GN. But then Channel 4 News thinks other things are important.

You must be disappointed that Gransnet doesn't have a 'sneering' emoticon.

My News is better than your News. Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah. hmm

Question to all those to profess a deep seated antipathy to the Duchess of Sussex and all she stands for.

How do you know so much of what went on in the interview?

Either you watched it, or you devour the contents of "gossipy magazines" or the sensationalist press.

Clips of it are all over the place.

I didn't ask Breakfast TV to show me Meghan being a chipmunk while I was enjoying my cuppa. hmm

Chestnut Fri 19-Nov-21 10:02:59

Ellen de whatever ???
I think I'll stick with that name.

Tickingbird I can assure you that I don’t read ‘gossipy magazines’ either.
I’ve explained why calling Ellen ‘degenerate’ is unpleasant.
I thought that you’d just say something like , ‘ah, ok, that is unacceptable’, instead of arguing your right to be unpleasant.

Purplepixie Fri 19-Nov-21 09:53:52

I thought they wanted a quieter life away from the press, TV and public glare! I cannot warm to either Megan or Ellen de whatever.

Lemon I think you have overlooked the fact that he is a Chief Impact Officer and we all know how hard they all work at chief impacting!

I believe I read he has also joined some corporation or other dedicated to putting the truth out in the public domain so that's good! oh the irony

Then of course there's all the drivel podcasts for Netflix, Spotify etc. etc.

He's done well for a boy with two A levels hasn't he?

Two a levels. Are you implying that’s good or not good ?
Just checking

^I thought that this was well known^

Why on earth would it be well known? I have no recollection of headlines announcing this slur on Ms Degeneres. Maybe it filled column inches in gossipy magazines. I don’t read them personally.

I wasn't aware of it either, but became aware of it reading this thread, and would never then have posted the way you did.
