Urms we booked a table earlier in the week as the pub is very popular and not running at full capacity. It's sunny but breezy now. The surfers are out, people are walking past and the tourist bus has just driven by. November is certainly not quiet here.

Thank you again for all the good wishes on our new grandchild yesterday. Mum and baby making good progress in fact so good they Mum is coming home this afternoon. Baby still has to stay for a few more days.
DS and dgs are coming for lunch so I will plate one up for her to have at home. Afterwards grandad will take the little one to the park near the hospital while the new dad collects mum.
Hope the other new babies and families are doing well.

Good morning from a sunny Glasgow where temperatures have lowered sufficiently to have a light frost but looks very pretty with the sun shining on it.

Still feeling a bit rough and zapped of energy so won’t be doing much today. Two positives are my BP which is being monitored as it was alarmingly high is showing better readings since I started on Ramipril. The other positive, I have finished Christmas shopping, all done online. Phew!

GD1 enjoyed her first day of her Saturday job but told me she was exhausted by finishing time she soon perked up when a friend messaged to invite her and a few friends over. She will survive. ?

Hope you feel some improvement soon Urms. A busy day doing nothing sums it up.
Sorry to hear there is an outbreak of D&V in the nursing home GrannySomerset, not what you needed to hear. Please be careful when visiting as you must look after your own health now. Take care and try to eat a little something to get your energy level up.

Pleased to hear dollie enjoyed her 6th birthday party Marydoll. So nice to hear of children getting a touch of normality back and having fun.

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. Bright sunshine here but cold. I was swithering over whether or not to attend the early service or later ( both on zoom) and now I have missed the early one.
I will visit DMiL later and depending on how we feel I may take her out for a drive. The sun is low in the sky which makes for tricky driving.

Sorry to hear that Urmstongran is still suffering. DB & DSiL have both had covid and are slowly recovering but aren't able to see their new DGS yet. Lots of baby photos to coo over.

Morning from S Lanarkshire where it is lovely and bright but very cold here at least, everything white with frost.

Another with a poor night’s sleep, was finally really cosy when it was time to get up. Various things to do before being picked up by DD2 and family to go to DD1 for lunch at the farm. This time of year is slightly less busy for them although indoor cattle feeding etc still requires a lot of time.

Glad Ashcombe’s okay, I had noticed her absence.

Hope everyone else is well or at least recovering, you’ve had a bad dose Urmston, hope you’re totally over your bug soon.

Lovely, cold day in Shropshire. Nice and bright so much better than the grey gloomy days of last week. More gardening today before the ground gets too wet again!

DH’s nursing home has a D&V bug so no visitors allowed and I feel guilty that after months and months of keeping him safe I have exposed him to this. Am hoping I can see him tomorrow because he will be totally baffled by being abandoned. Meanwhile my back is very little better and I have absolutely no energy (bad) but no appetite either (good) which I put down to reaction to prolonged stress.

Beautiful cold sunny morning here in the Chew Valley and a parish communion to go to which is very positive.

Sympathies to urmston and Marydoll and anyone else suffering from whatever nasty is going round their neck of the woods. I suspect we will have a winter of bugs we have lost immunity to.

Good morning from a dry but cool NE.
DD and SIL sorted more paperwork yesterday morning and then left as DS and family arrived.
Sister and BIL came with some shopping and stayed for a drink and a chat. I went to the fridge to get milk and found a massive puddle on the floor, it was the same in the bottom of the fridge. BIL cleaned up and sorted it for me, pleased he was here.
DIL made dinner last night, a delicious lasagne and I enjoyed as I hadn't really eaten anything yesterday.
GD2 had been at school until lunchtime as it was open day and her year were talking to prospective pupils so it was a long day for her and they left at 9pm.
A quiet day for me today and a chance to do the crossword.

It’s bright, breezy and chilly outside today, but it’s much more preferable to those dull, grey days.

Had my booster yesterday, and my arm feels as if it’s come off worse after a fight with Mike Tyson! Been taking paracetamol but it’s not having much effect. Still, it’ll wear off, and the alternative (covid) would be far worse.

Washing load is in and later I’m going to make the Christmas pudding, as it’s stir up Sunday today.

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is sunny but chilly.
DH has already left to go to rugby with his grandsons. It's an away day in East London so a fair journey.
I'm about to prepare the veg for our pork roast dinner, watch Andrew Marr and read the paper.
DD1 and 10 year old granddaughter are travelling to London this morning with a friend and her mum to see Wicked this afternoon. A birthday treat for the two girls who share a birthday.

X posts Pittcity you sound as though you are having a wonderful restful holiday by the sea in Cornwall. It will be less crowded ‘out of season’ and a different kind of enjoyment I imagine. Very atmospheric being beside a tumultuous sea. Wrap up warm and you’ll be snug. Plus, you’ll easily get a table at that pub for your Sunday lunch! Lovely.

Laundry processed admirably by the washing machine yesterday the ironing awaits today. Must also wrap a birthday gift for our ex daughter in law. Wish there was an easily understood descriptive term for her, she’s been part of the family for so many years and will always be the mother of our grandchildren. I’m with you dragonfly, our family are too far away to just drop in for a coffee or a chat. Makes me sad at times and worried for the future at others which is foolish as we live in a supportive community.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s turned chilly for sure. We sleep with the bedroom window open and I closed it firmly when we woke half an hour ago. Himself has just brought me my first cuppa of the day in bed where I’m snuggly.

Another day “busy doing nothing” ? ? here. Glad I’ve cancelled stepfather coming for dinner - no way Jóse. So far I still can’t taste anything. Certainly spoils the pleasure of eating. If I closed my eyes I wouldn’t have a clue what was on my plate. I still have squeaky pipes on breathing out. Thanks virtuals for thinking of me and your get well messages. That’s nice.

Thanks for letting us all know about Ashcombe grandMattie I was beginning to wonder about her. I had to look up the word ‘patronal’. Duh! Obvious really but I’m not religious so it wasn’t on my radar. As you may recall from last Christmas I ❤️ the candlebridge my dear mum bought me years ago. I find it comforts me to have it on my bedroom windowsill. It’s a soft warm yellowish light, not those harsh white ones that ouch the eyes and as Marydoll says it’s the first Sunday in Advent next week I shall get it out of the box and plug it in.

Anyone else think this year has flown by?

Oh the sun’s up! That’s nice and cheery. Himself has just been in for my empty mug to replenish. He’s definitely a Keeper.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire, where the sun has put in an initial appearance. We are having a quiet day today. Yesterday was my son in law’s birthday and we went to a local pub restaurant for a meal. The meal was very nice, but it was the noisiest pub we have ever been in and made conversation almost impossible. Everyone seemed to be shouting at the top of their voices, which is not really what you want in these covid ridden times!! With hindsight, we shouldn’t have gone. We came home and had coffee and birthday cake and they left without the part they were going to take home, so we will have a run over with it this morning. Too much for us to eat. GS insisted on helping to light the candles and managed to burn his finger?. Par for the course I suppose.
At DH’s request we are having quiche and salad for lunch. I hope Sunday is kind to one and all.

Good morning everyone from a bright and dry Northampton. Looking forward to a bacon roll (or two!) in a little while.

Had a lovely outing yesterday to an equestrian centre with friends to see a niece of one of them compete in a show-jumping competition. Really enjoyed it, then we went to meet rider and horse afterwards, and reward him (the horse Rodney!) with carrots. Then a pleasant evening was spent at friend's house where she cooked a meal for us and we watched Strictly together.

Lunchtime today off out to our ballet for Children in Need, where I will make a complete exhibition of myself! Fingers crossed it goes ok. We hope to be rewarded with cake afterwards!

Hoping that Sunday is kind to us all.

After a long walk yesterday we are having a quiet day today with Sunday lunch at the local pub two minutes walk away.

It’s blue sky and sunny here in my little corner of S E Essex, although there is a nip in the air.

No idea what is on the agenda for today, The Imp woke up at 5.00am, so I had an early wake up call. DD has kept him occupied downstairs but he is on form this morning. (DD is suffering with his ears so didn’t hear a thing)

Might write some Christmas cards, and do some more online shopping. I have a beef joint, it sure if I will cook it today or pop out for lunch and have a mid-week roast.

Good morning from a brightish Leistershire.

Went to the vet hospital yesterday to pick the dog up. He was very restless when we got him back but I think we all felt a little traumatised.
We all had a good night last night.
When DD texted last night to ask how he was I said nothing as I didn’t want her to be upset on her birthday out there in Cancun.

I do envy those grans who see their AC regularly and can drop in. Mine are so far away.
