Good afternoon Lidlers from the Sefton coast.
Like Ashcombe, I am truly humbled by the fortitude of Iris and Imogen; what inspirational young ladies they are. You, too, were brave yesterday Jaxjacky as you seem to have underplayed the pain of the procedure, and your positive attitude, Gwen, is one I should follow.
I would love to hang your beautiful wreath on my door Grandmattie. You are sooo clever.
I hope your DH quickly recovers, Greyduster, and that the visit to your DH GrannySomerset goes well.
Happy birthday to the menfolk in the Gingster household. ?
How alarming for you, Grandmadinosaur. Looking at the aerial view, your home is perilously close to the fire. Fingers crossed you aren’t too affected by it.
My late note reads, “Went swimming.” This afternoon I’m meeting friends for coffee, cake and chatter. (Probably cackling with laughter too!)
Sending a hug, smile and the sight of a flamingo to you all.
???

Just squeaked in to say Good Morning to Mick, Annie and all, when I saw the references to Grandmadinosaur.
What a shock for you, hope all is OK, and that you can get back home safely.
Have a good day one and all.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 25-Nov-21 11:44:45

Thank you all for your concerns.
The house is okay and we are fine. I’m feeling a little shaky though. I’m just back from the dentist and picking up our prescriptions. My dental appt was 11. On checking in they said she was running late hadn’t even started her 10.30 one. She said I could rearrange. Feeling as I do today I did so.
A weird occurance is the living room clock has stopped at 5.50 yesterday. This was around the time we evacuated. I hadn’t corrected it but it is now going. Very odd.
I’ve included another picture from this morning . Where the trees are on the right there is a beck/drain and our house is on the other side. Very scary.

Morning all, just popped in to say hello as I haven’t posted for a few weeks. Going to a book club for the first time today by invitation from a neighbour, so looking forward to that. Posts on here today are upbeat, great that people are overcoming troubles, have a peaceful day everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 25-Nov-21 11:03:10

P.s.gosh Grandmadinosaur I even forgot to mention your drama last night! What an awful thing to happen. Hope there were no casualties. That factory mess will take some putting right.

Urmstongran Thu 25-Nov-21 11:01:25

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s gloriously sunny. We have stolen your sunshine it seems multi! I’m sat on the sofa behind glass and it’s so warm I’ve taken my cardigan off. I’ve just had to open the click door to the balcony too. South facing does make a huge difference keeping our heating bills down! Still no heating on here even in the evenings but that new winter duvet was wonderful last night.
?

I’ve just had two mugs of tea and two tasteless slices of toast with butter. No point adding my favourite Scottish marmalade!
?

Such brave girls, Iris and Imogen aren’t they? Great attitudes that will stand them in good stead in life.

Hope your nose isn’t too sore this morning Jax you’ll be relieved now it’s been dealt with.

Greyduster these are for you ? I hope your anxiety settles soon. Great to have you back Ashcombe and safe travels back from Cornwall Pitt. Nice way to end your holiday too having dinner with friends in Shropshire.

Lovely to think of GG13 and Sar53 shopping in the same mall today. Who knows you might even be in the same shop at some stage! Perhaps you both ought to have worn a green scarf or a red hat in the hope of identifying one another.
?

Himself has just picked up the car keys as he’s decided to bob over to my stepfather’s as we haven’t seen him for over a week now. I’m keeping myself hidden away. Still coughing and as he is in his 90th year I’d hate to pass this awful virus on to him. It’s floored me for sure. Actually as well, Himself picked up a couple of litre bottles of ‘Famous Grouse’ for him as at present they are down to £16 a bottle in Sainsbury’s and my stepfather does like a bargain when it comes to his daily wee dram late afternoon. Honestly if you could just see the man, tall, upright, well dressed (always) with his family tartan scarf and smart coat you’d never guess his age. He does the rest of us proud at any gathering!

Enjoy Thursday all who can. x
Bet this is one of the last posts this morning & the longest ha! I have time on my hands as you can tell ...

Good morning all for a sunny Lancashire coast.
At home today for a change and will finish my Christmas card, have drawn a Madonna and child, but going to do the child again as his head looks too small!
Sneezing a lot, hope it’s not the beginning of something as I have quite a bit coming up.
DS stayed over and did a few jobs, we watched Who wants to be a millionaire and Redknapp crashing out so quickly, but it’s the luck of the draw for questions. Also watched gogglebox with him and he thought we should go on it, we enjoy it so much. I’m not up for that. He cooked a nice meal too which makes a nice change. He’s a night bird though and I stay up too late with him, he’s very good company.
Cabin crew daughter in the Maldives and sent photos, so lovely
Blimey Grandmadinosaur what a shock.
Thoughts to grandMattie harrigran and grannysomerset..

Grandmabatty Thu 25-Nov-21 10:56:26

Grandmadinosaur that looks very scary indeed! I hope all are well and there's no damage to your home. X

Blossoming Thu 25-Nov-21 10:32:15

Good heavens Grandmadinosaur how terrifying! I’m saw that on the news.

Blossoming Thu 25-Nov-21 10:27:15

Good morning all from frosty bright Lancashire. I’m glad to hear the surgery went well for Iris Grandmattie, so much for a child to endure, it’s humbling to hear of her resilience and determination. I hope you are feeling better Ash. Thinking of Harrigran and GrannySomerset this morning.

Not much planned for today as I’m quite tired after yesterday’s activity. I have some online prep an reading to do before Monday so will make good use of my time while resting my foot.

Have a good day everyone ?

Good Morning from bright Harrogate
Saw the fires on the news this morning Grandmadinosaur. That must be awful living so close, I hop you don't have any damage to your house, and you can move safely back in soon.
You must be so proud of Iris, GrandmaMattie, she will probably spend her time at school getting everyone to sign her plaster, that's what it is there for?
My GP phoned yesterday to let me know I have an enlarged heart!!! My DD quipped she always knew I had a big heart!! I refuse to panic until I get permission from a Cardiologist.
I'm trying to enclose photos of my pics for the exhibition tomorrow. just putting in 3 today.
Good to see you back Ash hope DH's trip goes to plan.
Greyduster sorry your DH is in hospital - hopes he is out today.
Have the best day you can folks!

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 25-Nov-21 09:58:38

Just read a few posts. Grandmadinosaur how terrifying. Thinking of you.

brook2704 Thu 25-Nov-21 09:52:46

Oh grandmadinosaur how awful, thank goodness you’re ok it must have been very worrying.
I hope nobody was hurt and everything is ok for you ?

GrannySomerset Thu 25-Nov-21 09:51:17

Beautiful cold and sunny morning and I am about to visit DH, but wanted to say how much I admire the families of those two brave girls, Iris and Imogen. I have no doubt that their parents’ way of handling things has rubbed off on them.

Will be back in time for my new mattress to be delivered and dealing with bit more admin. Hope for a positive day for us all.

LauraNorderr Thu 25-Nov-21 09:41:57

Meant to send a hug to Jax. Glad Imogen and her mum seem unfazed by the news. Best way, she sounds like an amazing child who will crack on through life and enjoy it. Glad your nose has finally been dealt with.

LauraNorderr Thu 25-Nov-21 09:37:28

Oh my goodness Grandmadinosaur, how awful. Hope normality is restored ASAP and not too much harm done for those living close by.

LauraNorderr Thu 25-Nov-21 09:31:57

Good morning Mick and all from a beautiful sunny, blue skied Isle of Anglesey where Orlin is on a fantasy ride to Timbuktu in the corner of the kitchen while I plough through my crumpets with peanut butter and thoughts of EV.
I plan a day of splodging paint on canvas in my ‘studio’.
Sorry to hear that your brave little Iris suffered such pain grandMattie and hope and pray that the outcome is good for her. The wreath is lovely, your talent knows no bounds.
Glad you’re feeling better Ash, not sure if olddudders has already left but glad that he’ll be back with you before Christmas.
Happy birthday to those celebrating today including other halves and grandchildren.
Sorry you have such worry Greyduster, hope MrGrey is discharged today and all is well.
Hope everyone has a better day today and you all get to enjoy a random pink flamingo ?

Grandmadinosaur Thu 25-Nov-21 09:31:53

Good morning from a dry bright East Yorkshire. I am typing this from a hotel near home.

Yesterday was a day to remember one good one not.
Firstly we were allowed to visit baby in hospital after we did LF tests. I got to have a cuddle that was a delight. She seemed tinier than in her photos.
We left the hospital mid afternoon. I wanted to call at a M&S food shop on the way home. On the way as we turned towards the road we needed I looked left towards our village to see a huge plume of smoke and commented to DH. Didn’t think any more of it. As we headed towards home could see the smoke getting bigger. Our son rang to say he had got home and the fire was at a plastics factory behind our house.
As we were were coming into the village it was pandemonium could hear sirens, explosions, traffic everywhere. By now it was also getting dark. It was terrifying. We couldn’t actually get down the road and had to park in a supermarket car park and walk as close to. I stayed at the top of the road while DH went to see the damage.
We went to our sons house for sanctuary but there was no power. It came back on about 5.15. We decided to go and pack a bag and stay in a hotel which is where we are now. It is also being used by emergency services for refreshments so this morning we will find out the latest.
I will go home I have a dental appt later this morning and I need to check my 2 freezers to see what if anything is ok. It’s a good job I hadn’t filled it for Christmas. But in the grand scheme of things it’s a small matter.
I’ll enclose some photos to give you an idea.
Will catch up with threads later.
Take care.

Good morning all. A frosty morning in Glasgow where the sun has now broken through. Seeing the frost on my car this morning had me once more appreciating I no longer have to defrost it before going out.

Finally getting my BP under control although still being monitored. At least it is going in the right direction. Hopefully only one more bloods check. Now moving on to dental work. My social life is a whirl these days with so many outings. ?

So pleased to hear yesterday’s op went well for Iris I wonder who she has inherited her stoicism from grandMattie??

Sorry to hear of Imogen’s diagnosis Jax having a pragmatic Mummy does help enormously. Sounds as if you too have a stoical GD. Best of luck for her tournament today.

I do hope things are settling a bit more for you and your DH GrannySomerset. I’m sure if your DH is settling this will hopefully help you to settle more too.

Both GD’s exam results are coming in, both doing well and back into their stride again, especially pleased for GD1 (16) to whom these exams are so important for her future.

Have a pleasant day all and as always, wishing a better day for those with worries and struggles.

Forsythia Thu 25-Nov-21 09:25:30

Good morning once more from south London. We did Lidl yesterday and they have some lovely items in for Christmas at such reasonable prices we think. Today, it’s a sorting out of cupboards day in readiness for our downsizing. This is an ongoing job, a never ending one it seems too?. Then, as it’s bright, dry and clear here we intend going for an hours walk and popping into our local garden centre to look at their Christmas displays. My DH doesn’t like that much but he’s very good and trails around with me, bless him.
Hope you all have a good day and good wishes, as always, to those suffering in different ways.

EkwaNimitee Thu 25-Nov-21 09:16:38

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where it was -1C at 7am. I woke to the gentle sound of car engines running as my unfortunate neighbours tried to defrost their cars in the dark and cold before getting off to work. They were followed soon after by a large drain cleaning tanker which rumbled its way down our road flushing out the drains one by one. I hoped it was just routine and there wasn't a problem, it was elsewhere on the estate yesterday too.

I'm out later this morning, it's my monthly appointment at the hospital for a venesection. Blood is replaced by free coffee and biscuits afterwards. The downside is that it makes me rather lightheaded for about 3 days after so a lot of sitting about reading etc rather than gardening or shopping. New books are piling up so maybe it's a plus.
Best wishes to Iris, grandMattie, a young lady with an admirable spirit.
To all of you with worries or ill health, I wish you better times.
Take care all.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 25-Nov-21 09:05:11

Good morning everyone. I disappeared for a few weeks but am back. Have not had time to read the above posts but will later. Workmen arriving shortly so Ddog will be going bonkers. Worked yesterday and had dgd Mon, Tues. Slipping into a rhythm. I find I need that.
Beautiful crisp day here in the Scottish Borders. Will go for walk later once pavements clear of ice. Have thought of you all. X
