Good morning from a dry, dark, chilly E Kent.
Iris’s operation went well, the anaesthetic was tweaked so she wasn’t sick, but she was left in a lot of pain. Once that was addressed, she was fine and home. They have decided to leave removing the plaster until after Christmas as there wouldn’t be enough staff should there be any complications. Since the screws went right into the bone, the risks of infection are pretty high, Iris is ok with that and was scuttling around the house with her walker and/or crutches.
My crafting went well, although I still have no idea what I’ll do with the wretched wreath. We won’t be here for
Christmas nor is it to my taste…
Spanish today. I’m battling for the umpteenth year, the use of the subjunctive. Bleugh.
We’re going to Lidl this afternoon. Again? I hear you say, marydoll. Yep. But this time to get sides of fresh salmon that I then portion and freeze.
May today bring relief to those lovely GraMmingos in pain, sorrow, or anxiety. May you have a peaceful day. ????☀️??☀️☀️

Good morning, early risers from a dry Torbay…. again!

It sounds as if Iris is being as stoic as ever over her treatment. What a brave child she is! I hope she continues to do well and no doubt you are looking forward to seeing her before too long, grandMattie. We, too, are planning a Lidl shop today.

I felt humbled by the welcome I received yesterday and it was a joy to read the warm, friendly comments here. Thank you.

Thoughts with all those who are facing sadness or pain for which I hope each day brings some relief. ?????

Welcome again, Ash. We really are a lovely bunch on here, like you I have received only kindness and affection. Differences of opinion etc., are our aside and only the best in people is displayed. Long may it last.
And thank you all! ❤️

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. It’s a cold and frosty start to the day here.

Brave little Iris has been through so much gMattie, I’m glad to hear that the op went well.

I hope you’re feeling better Ashcombe.

I’m looking forward to seeing my Edinburgh grands today, I missed them last week when I wasn’t well. I wonder if this will be the day the four year old decides it’s too cold for her customary ice cream on our walk along the seafront.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. May you find a ?or ??.

Pantglas2 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:09:12

Morning all from a dry and blowy north Wales where I’m hoping lauranorderr will keep the weatherbarn doors open for my bedding washing day ?. I also prefer that name - she gives me nicer weather ?

Lidl appears to be popular this week - I popped in yesterday to replenish my ? stock - it had a very good rating in one of the Xmas testings? so let’s have some celebrations folks!

Not a lot planned at Pantglas Towers so will pop in later and read about your mischiefs x

Sar53 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:13:23

Good morning from Essex by the sea, a cold day is forecast.
I'm off to Bluewater to meet up with my youngest daughter today, I hope the M25 behaves.
Good to hear that Iris's operation went well, upwards and onwards.
Have the best Thursday you can everyone xx

Nannytopsy Thu 25-Nov-21 07:20:46

Good Morning Mick and all his followers. A haircut Mick ? Watch out for cold ears!
It’s a beautiful morning in Suffolk. We just woke to a golden sky which has now faded to blue. It’s the WI village coffee morning and my turn to bake, so I need to get moving.
I’m glad Iris is doing well. Hope the day is kind to everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:22:06

Morning all

Iris is a brave young lady grandMattie , good to see you back Ashcombe. That’s a coincidence Sar53 I am going shopping on my own today, DH said are you going to Lakeside or Bluewater, my reply was I will make up my mind when I get to the junction…

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

cornergran Thu 25-Nov-21 07:30:45

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cold corner of Somerset.

A trip across the bridge for us today for lunch with a friend in a cafe by a lake. Our lunches can last for three hours, here’s hoping for patient cafe staff. If our friend is well enough the lake is good for a walk, if we do it will be back to the cafe for a cuppa before hoping that two motorways are fuss free to get us back home.

iris is a little toughie for sure grandmattie. Hope all goes to plan with her recovery.

Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Gingster Thu 25-Nov-21 07:31:50

Good morning all

Today is Dh’s and DS1’s birthday. 48 years ago he was born 6 weeks early and on his dads 24th birthday. ❤️.
Dh and I will go to the golf club for lunch and DS and family will come round this evening , so they can celebrate together. They have a very close bond , which is lovely to see. ❤️.

Sar - safe journey to Bluewater. Lovely to meet up with your daughter ?

GM - I’m glad Iris’s operation went well. Sending healing wishes to her. ?. I love the wreath, very unusual. Perhaps raffle it at a Xmas fayre. ?.

Here’s hoping everyone’s day is bright and cheerful or failing that , just OK. ?

Jaxjacky Thu 25-Nov-21 07:35:20

Good morning all from a chilly S Hants, pleased the op went well grandMattie, Iris is amazing.
Speaking of GC’s, Imogen has been diagnosed with epilepsy, no medication for now. It’s not stopping her, she’s in an all day schools netball tournament today, DD is very pragmatic.
I have my booster later and long story short, had my nose cauterised late yesterday, it’s all go!
Enjoy today those who can, thoughts with those for whom it’s difficult ??

Gingster Thu 25-Nov-21 07:35:29

GG - enjoy your shopping trip . You might bump in to Sar if you decide on Bluewater. ?

Grammaretto Thu 25-Nov-21 07:43:22

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is still dark and the days are so short now I fear the French girls, who have left me and are now touring Scotland in a campervan, will see very little of the scenery.

Iris is such an inspiration grandMattie I hope the next part goes well for her.

Have a pleasant day one and all.

Marydoll Thu 25-Nov-21 07:43:46

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Glasgow.

Yesterday turned out to be a very enjoyable day. The kilt fitting went very well. It amused me to see that we could have family face masks made to match the tartan in the family kilts. The kiltmaker let the cat out of the bag with the bridesmaids' colours, as they pick out a colour in the kilts. I won't let on I know, but I do approve!!!

Next door to the kiltmaker, was the Italian café, we used to frequent with Dollie and it was totally empty, so in we ventured for coffee and cake! Such joy from a such simple treat!

In the afternoon I had to visit a neighbour to sort a PVG for church. She invited me in, but I declined, because she lectures at the University, had just finished a morning of face to face tutorials and has four teenage children. I couldn't risk picking up anything.
An hour later, I was blue with the cold, but it was great to have some human contact, apart from MrMDoll.
In fact he was on his best behaviour yesterday, apart from somehow ripping the seam on his very expensive winter jacket, hence the repair. It took hours to fix when we got home. I needed you GM, my fine sewing skills are not what they were!

Sending my condolences to Susan on the death of her aunt. ?
Ash, good to see you back and Jax, I hope the cauteriation works. I had it done when I was at university, my nose kept bleeding, usually during lectures. I hope things have moved on from then, it was an extremely painful procedure.

Nothing planned today, apart from dropping off a wedding invitation to my friend. Yesterday has taken its toll.
Wishing you all a pleasant day and hoping life is improving for GrannyS and her DH.

brook2704 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:44:15

Good morning everyone from a cold and dark Inverness, I’ll have to be brave and slowly slide out of my warm bed soon
Pleased Iris operation went well yesterday GM a very brave young lady
Yesterday I did a bit more Christmas shopping at the local retail park, but Sar and GG13 I do wish I lived nearer a big shopping centre. I hope you both enjoy your trips today! ? ?
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

AGAA4 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:53:28

Good morning from North Wales.
What a brave girl Iris is.

I may go into town later or just have a long walk.
My eldest GC at university is starting a part time job today. Glad he will have a small income to supplement his student loan.
Thoughts with all who are ill or have worries and wishing a good day to everyone ?

BlueSapphire Thu 25-Nov-21 08:06:39

Good morning everyone from a clear and cold Northampton, 1°C today. I know it's cold as I have just popped out in my dressing gown to put the food waste bin out! No neighbours about luckily. I didn't want to get out of bed, but nature called!

A morning of pottering, will probably hoover the bedrooms and the stairs.

Then ballet class after lunch and my friend and I will probably go round the corner to the little cafe afterwards. We had a good book club yesterday, with cream sponge cake and a bottle of fizz! When I got home I realised I had a 20% off voucher from M&S, so bit the bullet and ordered a dress which I am hoping to wear to a meal out tomorrow. I managed to get next day delivery to a local food store, so will pick it up tomorrow.

Yes, welcome back Ash, you were missed. Glad that Iris's op went well yesterday, and grandMattie, I really like your wreath.

Have a lovely day, everyone.

Good morning from a cold, windy Cornwall. We're packing up and saying goodbye to the choppy sea. Driving to Shropshire to stay the night with friends who recently retired there from Essex. Dinner is booked in a local pub.
Our bathroom at home is having finishing touches added today. We will be painting a couple of walls ourselves as we needed new plaster and this is taking time to dry.
Love to all x

multicolourswapshop Thu 25-Nov-21 08:17:11

Good morning everyone from a very nippy but dry start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Where’s that blazing sunshine we had yesterday? Wonder what’s on the menu today. That’s me finalised my grocery list to be delivered on the 1st December. I keep making amendments by remembering something else to add on especially the milk borrowed from next door which must be returned else we won’t be able to borrow again. Good neighbours always returns borrowed items. Don’t they? ?

Happy days ahead to those in misery todayflowers

Grandmajean Thu 25-Nov-21 08:17:52

Good morning from chilly Cheshire.
Iris is indeed a brave wee girl GrandMattie and I wish her well.
Happy birthday to your DH and DS Gingster. My DH was also 24 when our daughter was born but not on his birthday. She is a year ahead of your son. Didn't we marry young in those days !
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Beechnut Thu 25-Nov-21 08:22:12

Good Morning everyone from sunny Severnside. What a joy to be able to write that. I have slept in this morning. I must have been tired.

Yesterday’s furniture shop was successful and the item was delivered by mid afternoon.

Today I plan to change to a higher tog quilt. I can’t believe I’ve got as far as I have with the summer one.

I haven’t read all the news yet apart from the good news that Iris’s operation went well.

Have a good day all ???

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Nov-21 08:33:49

Happy Birthday to the Gingster men ??
