Good morning all from the Black country. White over 3-4ins and still falling but the wind has calmed. Damage that I can see from windows is 1 fence panel down and bins overturned.
Friends due over this evening but think they will give it a miss.
Full English calling so will catch up with everybody's news later.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed, enjoy your Saturday and may you all find some ?.

Good Morning Saturday 27th November 2021
(55 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,and wet outside and also cold , am expecting a mixed weather situation locally here in brackley .
I am having a break from getting on the bus and going somewhere as I am cautious as to travel and being caught out with the weather such as snow blizzards .
Yesterday was chaos as to bus travel to Bicester, ,I did my normal but the bus home was running late ,all thanks to cars queing on two main roads into the town , although it was near mid day trying to get to Bicester Village Retail to pick up Black Friday bargains ,chaos caused a late running bus .
Take Care,
Mick
Cold wet and windy in south London today, the bird feeders are swaying perilously in the wind and the birds are struggling to stay on them. However, compared to other areas we have it mild I think. A gloomy day beckons looking at the sky. A bit of Black Friday shopping online yesterday, another task ticked off the list, bacon sandwiches for breakfast and a short walk later. That’s us for the day.
All good wishes to those with worries.
Good morning from North Wales. Didn't get much sleep as the wind was howling down the chimney in my bedroom all night. Seems to be lessening now.
The ladybird that arrived on my kitchen window in September is still there. Unless it is a different one. I wonder how they survive for so long.
Have a good Saturday everyone and thoughts with those who aren't well or have troubles.
Good morning Michael and all GNs. We woke up to a covering of snow in South Yorkshire this morning, but it’s raining now, so hopefully it will wash it away soon enough. I like snow confined to Christmas cards! We have no plans to go out today, so I plan to make mince pies for the freezer.
Mary thank you, DH is much more himself today, which means I am going to have my work cut out getting him not to overdo it! We had words about it yesterday. He was suitably chastened.
Have the best day you can today folks!
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning everyone from a wet and windy east Fife. That’s the garden furniture all over the place and I’m sure the roofs taken a battering. Thankfully himself is up and about this morning raring to go outside to repair the damage the storm has made. The bins will also have taken a beating. Just hope the rubbish isn’t all over the place yuck ? there’s the beautiful sun rising
Have a safe day everyone
Good morning Mick, morning all from blowy South Lanarkshire. I think you’re wise to have a day indoors Mick if you don’t really have to go out.
Well done on your sale Scentia!
Have a lovely day GG13
Welcome Grandadtel
I’ve an appointment to get my eyebrows tinted, they are very grey now with quite a few pure white hairs which seem to grow at double the normal rate for some reason. I don’t mind my hair going white but the pale eye make me look completely washed out.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
GG - your day sounds lovely. Enjoy every minute ?
Gwen take it easy after your fall. It shakes you up
Good morning Mick and all his followers. I woke up to an unexpectedly beautiful morning except for the heavy black clouds on the horizon, which are lit with pink and gold along the leading edge. We are forecast our share of Arwen later.
A day for tidying up and then lunch at a local restaurant, using some vouchers given at Christmas 2019. I don’t expect to achieve much this afternoon!
Poor you Marydoll - I don’t think my DH would have woken either!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Grandadtel

Welcome to this lovely thread! Wrap up well!!
Pitt love the bath!
Gwen, I hope you haven't done any damage, you must have had a fright! ?
Ash our surgery allow you ten minutes if you are late, later if you phone ahead and pre warn them.
Morning Mick and all
It’s our family meet up to celebrate Mums birthday (our fourth one without her) DH, DD and 6yr old are booked onto the London Eye at lunch time, followed by a visit to the South Bank Christmas market. Then we shall jump in a cab to Covent Garden to meet my sister, her husband and my two gorgeous little nieces (yes I am totally biased and love them to pieces ❤️❤️)
Apparently it snows every 30 minutes so we are expecting lots of giggles!!!
Then it’s off to meet youngest two sons, wives and 4 GC at a “posh” hotel for dinner (I hope they are well prepared for the 16 of us)
Thinking of all of our virtual friends caught by Storm Arwen.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning from Cheshire.
We seem to have escaped the worst of the weather.
Snow in Harrogate ! Bet it looks lovely. One of my top towns to visit.
That must have been annoying Ashcombe
A little more understanding of the situation re traffic , weather and Covid from the dragon receptionist would not have gone amiss.
Hope today is calmer.
Morning all from Hertfordshire... Nice and wet... Pretty calm outhere. So whatever your doin... Enjoy... Av a good n. Im off to do 2 hrs security outside..... ????
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, I had to manually put on the heating at 6am, DH thinks we are still in summer time and hasn't adjusted the timer.
* Greyduster*, I hope your DH is improving and Ash pleased to hear your friend has been released from home.
GM, have you uninstalled the printer and then re-installed it again, which should reset it back to factory settings? It will also update the printer drivers, which is often the reason for errors.
I had to do that a few weeks ago, when mine wouldn't scan and was missing bits of text..
If you need an advice on how to do, just let me know.
DD and SIL are staying overnight after having dinner with us at the golf club. We were the only people in the restaurant!
I was designated driver, but was a bit anxious, as the road leading to the clubhouse is a single lane, unlit, uphill, very twisty road, surrounded by trees. The wind was howling, making it very atmospheric, it was like something out of a horror movie. I met a car coming the other way, which certainly tested my driving skills! ?
In preparation for my guests, I decided to vacuum my rather dirty car. No-one, apart from DH has been in it, since lockdown started, so I haven't really bothered.
I was in the back, cleaning it, when a gust of wind caught the door. Unfortunately the child locks were on and I was trapped in the back. Unable to climb into the front, I started to panic, when I couldn't get out. Then I had the bright idea of sounding the horn, all to no avail. Twenty minutes later, I was still stuck there, despite my soon to be ex husband and all my neighbours being at home. ?
Eventually I leant over the back seat and held my hand on the horn! There are no prizes for guessing that DH had as usual been snoozing on the sofa. After parking at the golf course, DH had to let my SIL out of the back. However I was surprised to see DD standing in the car park. It turns out, that only one door had child locks on, I had wasted twenty minutes for nothing. I could have opened the other door! I am a stupid, old woman!!!! ?
No plans for today, apart from intending to go back to church tonight, for the first time since lockdown tonight. I am very apprehensive, but I have to, socially distanced and masked, (not easy) speak to people about their disclosure applications and that saves me going to their homes, which I will not consider.
Hoping everyone has a reasonably good day, whatever your plans.
Good morning from a cold, wet Colchester. We had sleet at about 10 last night.
We have our boosters in Boots which is 10 minutes walk away this morning. Straight home as I have holiday washing and the stuff that DS has brought home from a week away camping. DH is putting the finishing touches to our lovely new bathroom which we are very pleased with. The builder even left a rubber duck with the company logo on.
Stay warm and safe everyone. Love to all ? x
Good morning all from a blowy, damp S Hants, no snow unfortunately.
I’d email the Practice Manager Ash unacceptable, but good news for your DD and the leading lady. Well done Scentia considering the weather, that’s pretty good.
There are good people out there Gingster good it got sorted, for now.
Few plans today, man coming to check boiler pressure at 10, MrJ to get the Christmas bag down from the loft, Saturday paper and that’s about it.
Stay warm people. Thoughts with those struggling ??
Good morning all from Polmont. It's 2°, feels cold and the clear sky has hints of day appearing. Ashcombe good news indeed about your daughter and your friend. Not so good about the jobsworth at the surgery. Gwenisgreat I hope you aren't badly hurt. Scentia well done on the sale.
Yesterday I nipped to town and bought all my Christmas cards and stocking fillers. Then in the afternoon I gave a binbag full of redundant scarves, handbags and toiletries to a local charity which collects them for homeless women. The rest of the time I pottered about. My son didn't make it over to see his new nephew as he was stuck on a train from Aberdeen which ended up very late. I think he's heading over today. I have no plans for today. I'll go out and check for damage after the storm, although it all looks calm enough now. I'm not sure if snow is forecast for here. Take care all.
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s raining lightly and a slight breeze. Beechnutella has just messaged to say they have sleet falling.
My booster morning went off well. No waiting out in the cold, straight in for temperature and detail taking. Then 15 minutes sit down inside. Back to the car where I sat for a few more minutes then off home.
I didn’t enjoy my weekly shop. The store was well stocked with stuff for Christmas and I felt a little overwhelmed. On coming out it was raining so I put the hood up on my gilet, couldn’t see very well because the hood and my hair were flopping over my eyes. When I got home I got hold of my fringe and cut a chunk off the end and plan to make a tuck in my hood.
Well done with your sale Scentia. That was a very mean receptionist Ash. How many times do we go in to see whoever actually at the appointment time!
Take care all and stay safe, don’t go out unless absolutely necessary ??
Good morning all and it seems we’re all in for a wild and windy day.
Yesterday we went for lunch with our usual Friday gang. After a pleasant couple of hours sitting around a log fire, we left the pub in sleet, wind and icy cold. I said to DH ‘can’t wait to get home and cosy’ . Ha! The clutch on the car suddenly gave out as we approached a bend, and we were stranded in the middle of nowhere. Phoned the breakdown who said up to a 90 minute wait. I phoned our no.1 son who was fortunately working from home. He came immediately (about 20 mins away) . Took me back to his house for a warming cuppa and went back to wait with his dad. Bless his lovely heart ❤️!
Do you know …. 4 people stopped to offer help… one young lady in a large 4x4 asked if she could take us somewhere, 2 chaps in an Essex Water van who attempted to get us going, and a very smart man in a very expensive sports car stopped to see if he could help us. How kind (some) people are. ?.
So today will be spent finding a garage to fix said car. The call out man got it going but it needs looking at . Perhaps now is the time to get a new one. ?
Scentia well done with your sale. £100 is amazing, considering the bad weather. ?
Ash you experienced the other side of human nature. What a shame!
Sar what a journey home from Bluewater you had. I felt for you.
Mick you’re best to stay in today and keep warm. The traffic will only get worse leading up to Christmas. It’s hardly worth venturing out.???
Wishing you all a good weekend. Take care everyone. ❤️
Sorry to hear about your fall gwenisgreat take care out there and I hope your aches get better soon ?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where the storm has calmed down slightly and we’ve a light covering of snow. Brrrr like many others we’re in for a very cold weekend ?
Sounds like you’ve had a very early start again Scentia with the DGC up early, enjoy! And well done with your sale
I’m taking DGD to her dance class this morning then meeting up with DD2 and DGS for lunch somewhere. There’s a few local Christmas markets set up this weekend so depending on the weather we might pop along
Good news about your DD and the leading lady Ash but what a shame about your appointment for just 5 minutes
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from white Harrogate
Yesterday on my way to the bus stop after delivering my pictures, I came a cropper when I tripped over a hump in the pavement- just didn’t see it in the half light. As a result didn’t sleep well last night, everything aches. Don’t think anything’s broken except my pride!!
I’m supposed to be stewarding at the exhibition, Will see how I am later! At least I’ll know about that hump getting the bus home!!
Ash at our surgery we are allowed to be 10 mins late! Ask about the policy at yours and complain if necessary. Glad to hear your friend is out of hospital and your DD does not have COVID.
We’ll done Scentia making £100 in difficult conditions, yes you can put other items on Facebook Marketplace.
Pity you are so far from Harrogate GarndMattie I’m sure one of your jars of red onion marmalade has my name on it.
Have the best day you can folks.
A mess indeed, Ash! So pleased about your DD. And your thespian friend.
Honestly, these surgery dragons really enjoy their power. Power corrupts, absolute power……
Good morning from a wet, windy and cold Essex by the sea. I was awake before 5 and couldn't get back to sleep.
No plans for us today, may try and get out for breakfast somewhere or there again may not bother.
Have a pleasant Saturday and stay safe everyone xx
Good morning all from a very windy Torbay!
Yesterday, Black Friday traffic caused me to be five minutes late for a blood test appointment at a satellite surgery to which I had to drive (my usual one is within walking distance) and the nasty receptionist refused to let me be seen, despite my protestations.
The day got better when I heard that my thespian friend who fainted on stage on Thursday evening was released from hospital, pending further tests. Best of all, DD2 doesn’t have Covid after all! After a positive LFT, she went for a PCR test and some hours later received instructions regarding the positive LFT which she mistook for a positive PCR result! She was most embarrassed by this error which was only revealed when the actual negative PCR result arrived! Most unlike her but she does have this horrid cold that is doing the rounds.
Well done, Scentia! Helpful DH tells me that marmalade means mess in French, grandMattie! I hope everyone also has a weekend of good news stories. ?????
