I was up early so I will still say good morning from North Somerset. Bright but cold and icy rain at times. I was up early as we had the engineer coming to fix a smart meter, I now ask myself why we did it as he has had to issue some sort of order because the gas pipes and connections are right next to the electrics and it’s dangerous despite it being like that for nearly 18 years. It would seem we have to get it changed but he has put in a smart meter anyway. Now we are getting ready to go and confront the plumbers who put it in and issued us with a certificate of safety. Not in a good mood because of this and lack of sleep due to our lovely cat waking me up by lying next to me and purring. She does this most nights but last night Mr B and I changed sides of the bed to confuse her but it didn’t she still found me and purred even louder.
Marydoll Mr B has the problem as Mr Marydoll, had it for about 18 months and it is slowly getting better with exercises on the foot. He went to see a specialist physio on Saturday to get it all checked out and was told to increase the exercise and get the calf muscles stronger which he is now doing. Hope to be back running next year. If you want any advice on the exercises then please pm me. I am now going to retire to the Dora and fire with a book

Good Morning all from a fine and warm (if in the sun and out of the wind) Portugal. Not long ago ago spoken to DD1 who now might be coming for a much shorter weekend on Friday. I’ve also opened my Advent calendar which is a suitably cheerful one of the Salvation Army playing round a village Christmas tree. No chocolate ones here either.
Belated Morning Greetings to you all, from a sunny, breezy Cambs.,
Delighted that EV is O.K. (not happy that she is banned).
Thank you Urmstongran for getting in touch with her, do give EV our best wishes.
Great to hear good news, (we have had a series of bad news here for the past 4 weeks).
Morning. Bright here in the Scottish Borders but cold. No intention of going out til Saturday! Made bread (baking now) and saucepan of leek and potato soup. Date and apple scones shortly.
Opened my advent calendar (I long for the days of five advent calendars in a row now just two) . A picture of two hens. And for the first time in my life the calendar's last door is numbered 25. Which I've always thought it should be.
I realise it is pointless and daft to harp back to the days of five calendars. My AC are out in the big wide world and I am grateful for that.
Marydoll take care of yourself
I am another one who is so shocked that EV has been given a lifetime ban. What on earth is going on? Is there an appeal procedure on here at all?
I think there must be if others have been reprieved.
Very late to the party today so wasn’t going to post but just have to send a massive cheer for the good news from GrannyGravy.
And a mahoussive shout of good morning EV I’m so very pleased that you are okay and keeping up with us all. Hope Ruby and the rest of your family are well and glad to hear that the crumpets are still on your morning menu. Hoping there are lots of random pink flamingos in your life, I’m sure you’ll spot them.
Good morning everyone else. Windy in Anglesey today. Impossible to shut the weather barn door in this wind Pant but there’s a nice little cafe at the top of Snowdon, you’ll be fine.
Al late Good Morning from North Wales. Wet and windy here. Had my booster yesterday and had a fever all night so up late this morning.
Thoughts with those with injuries and other troubles and hope all have a peaceful day.
Good morning all from a bit of a dreich day here in Glasgow.
A bit of a CATastrophic day yesterday. GD2’s cat, Scout, came home with a large gash in his cheek, obviously had a fight so DD1 took him to the vet, an expensive visit for a look at him and prescription for painkillers and antibiotics. Our own cat, who senses when her F&T/worm treatments are due gave her usual performance and needed much persuasion until DH got a hold of her and I gave her this month’s treatment! What a palaver, no idea why she hates this and fears it so much.
Scout is on the mend and our drama Queen can relax for another month.
Lovely that you bumped into your DD and her friend Baubles. It has been said by many that Glasgow is like a village where you are bound to bump into someone you know.
Sad to read how deserted it has become.
A disappointing day for you Marydoll I got such a fright reading about your fall, wishing I could have been there to help you up and check you were ok. Hugs.
Pleased to hear your self diagnosis was confirmed GrandM. I noticed on the Alternative Medicine thread a poster mentioned she had a successful outcome with acupuncture to cure her plantar fasciitis. Your poor DH, gout is so painful. Hoping your DS mend quickly and is able to make the journey home. ?
Hope you are reading this morning’s thread EV. I am gutted to hear you have been banned, bloody nonsense after years of being a positive on GN this is how you are treated. I hope you are well and know how much you are sadly missed.
Upwards and sideways for another day hoping those who need it, have a better day.
Thank you for updating us on EV. I miss her posts too. I’ve always had a picture of her in my mind of such a gentle kind lady as that’s how she always came across to me.
Sad to hear she has a lifetime ban. FGS what are the admins thinking of. We need a petition to have her reinstated.
Please pass on my good wishes to her Urms if you are in contact again.
Greetings from the Sefton coast.
Excellent news that your DiL GG13 and that EV are in good health. Sending thoughts to all who require medical attention and those under the weather. May a large pink bird appear on the horizon of each and every one of you.
?????
A very happy day of playing with DGC is in my sights.
Good morning Mick and everybody.
It’s cloudy and drizzly in my corner of Lancashire. Currently 7°C and feeling warmer. Mr. B has gone shopping, so I will put that away when he returns. My plans for today are a trip to the GP surgery to collect yet another blood test form, physio exercises and cycling (indoors).
Stay safe and warm all ??
Oops premature posting
Please message me with EV’s news and giver her my best wishes x
Urmstongran I cannot believe that EV has been given a lifetime ban, absolutely flipping ridiculous
I'm really happy to hear your news about EV, Urms. It is a shame she was banned for life. Please tell her she is much missed.
So glad to hear EV is doing ok and I would so like an update on Ruby to see if she is ok. Are you able to ask her Urms ?
Glad to hear EV is doing ok. What I cannot understand is someone like EV has gone and she was so lovely, her posts so interesting, I used to love reading her messages and we have someone else who has been banned goodness knows how many times, got a lifetime ban, drove people off here, never to return, and was allowed to come back. Most unfair!
Thank you, Urmstongran for the reassuring news about EV.
A lifetime ban! That seems draconian. I’m glad to hear EV is well though. ?
Matt’s cartoon today. Made me chuckle!
Firstly, I’m so glad to here your great news GG13 you must all be SO relieved. It will be the icing on your Christmas cake.
Actually I agree about watching the news just lately. I’ve stopped watching late bulletins as the bad news just plays on my mind at bedtime.
But hey - I have really GOOD NEWS to share today. I rang EV and all is well! No health concerns (phew!) but is missing us all as she has been given a lifetime ban. She said she was very sad to hear the news that Phoenix had died. She reads the threads fairly often and just wishes she could join in again.
We’ve never chatted in real life before! It was a big surprise to her that I phoned. I said “hello, good morning ... this is Urmstongran from GN. We all wondered how you are doing and why you left”. She made me laugh when she said “I’ve just had my crumpets and hot chocolate so that’ll see me through till lunchtime”.
I feel as though I’m tapping this out with EV looking over my shoulder! I asked her permission to share her news via p.m.’s - we agreed that was the best way. Anyone interested can p.m. me and I will send back a reply. I shall make the first reply fulsome (you know me, I don’t do succinct it’s beyond my capabilities) and thereafter I can just cut & paste to anyone else who contacts me!

Grey and drizzle here in south London, with a slight breeze. Happy 1 December to one and all.
A trip to a local National Trust to see their Christmas decorations is on our agenda for today with a nice hot chocolate in the restaurant afterwards.
Have a good day all.
Good morning Mick and all from a blustery Lancashire coast.
I’m away to London in about ten minutes for a few days, also some time in Windsor with DD. Looking forward to it but the palaver of getting away…now I know why I like my day trips so much, I don’t have to take my whole life with me as it were.
I’m wearing so many layers as cannot bear the thought of being cold.
Hope you all have a good day and thoughts to grandmattie.
You said you would report news of EV, Urms. Waiting impatiently here since she is much missed.
Blood test and x-ray this morning and visit to DH if I can find someone to drive me. Am becoming a local nuisance, I fear, but would not be safe behind the wheel at present.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had rain overnight but drier now
A bit of a late post for me, DD2 was on the phone earlier a bit stressed out as their car exhaust has broken and the part needed seems to be out of stock in various garages until January☹️ It’s not a specialist car or anything just a regular make so don’t know what the problem is. Anyhow we can help out a bit with sharing out car for the essential journeys and see how it goes
Today I’ll be writing Christmas cards and wrapping presents as we’re off tomorrow to visit DD1 in Cambridge. It’s DGS 7th birthday and DDs birthday too so a double celebration and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Hope your DH gets a doctors appt soon Scentia
Take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we had heavy rain during the night. I was awake for a time then once I fell back asleep, I slept in. Oh well, nice to be retired for thar joy alone!
Children everywhere will be opening their Advent calendars and some will no doubt be looking for the naughty Elf.
We have no plans today so will just see what unfolds. I think we may be picking up the grandchildren from their childminder around 4:30pm as mummy has a late meeting after work.
Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.
Glasgow felt like a sad, changed place yesterday. So quiet, and even the lights didn’t seem to shine as brightly as in previous years although I’m sure the rain contributed to putting a damper on the atmosphere.
Didn’t spot you Marydoll but did meet my DD and her friend in Buchanan Street so that was nice.
Hope you’re both putting your feet up gM!
Scentia your DH really needs to get that pain checked, I know how stubborn some people can be about getting medical attention though.
Not much happening today so I’ll just wish everyone a peaceful day. ??
