I spent my afternoon writing cards. Our extended family have a card exchange every year at a local garden centre which is happening tomorrow.

My DH will also push himself beyond what he should be doing and sometimes end up dragging out a cold for weeks. I'm glad you were able to convince him to stay in. Can you try to get to the opera for a future performance?

MiniMoon enjoy your time with the Family at the Garden Centre. The Christmas stuff is amazing at GCs, very tempting to buy things. I'm at maximum capacity and have said I'm going to get rid of lots of my old stuff after this year and next year have a refresh.

CanadianGran, it wasn't easy and actually around the time we should have been in the audience he had a coughing fit. I said nothing but nearly bit my lips trying to keep my mouth shut Unforch the last performance was yesterday and it was a unique production of an Offenbach opera not performed in the UK for 100 years. Still we didn't dwell on our disappointment (too long).

You did the right thing. A journey in the cold then going into a warm theatre could have made the cough worse.
You had an enjoyable alternative afternoon in the warm which is much better if not fully well.

Well done for not going, but it is very sad that the tickets went unused - but I bet there were people less considerate than you who did go and coughed and sneezed and spoilt it for others. I hope you can at least get hold of a good recording of the opera. It sounds interesting. Would it have been in French?

Oh, and the railway and village are lovely. My DGS' maternal grandmother has one set up at Christmas time - it takes half their lounge! A lot of love and care goes into it. The granddad is brilliant with the boys; I'm sure he wished he had had a son. All year, they have teddy bears on display all round the house - standing in their hall once, I counted 57.
