Personally i feel he should go as cannot stand to keep hearing all the stories and footage that emerged overnight!

I agree with Damson92. I think Boris is doing what he can under these circumstances. He’s only human, I certainly wouldn’t want his job

Yes he's doing his best, shame it's so bloody awful isn't it.

I watched the television programme about Q anon this week, and listened to the supporters and the reason they supported people like Trump.

Regardless of what evidence they were presented with, they continued to believe the most bizarre things,- things that you wouldn’t believe anyone would believe.

That is what is happening here when we continue to read about peoples belief that Starmer was implicated in Saville and the refusal to accept evidence that cannot be challenged. Other examples of this weird steadfast belief regardless of evidence abounds.

It is a phenomena of this decade. It will be fascinating to read the psychological explanation for it.

Johnson also has the letter to answer relating to rescuing the animals on a special charter flight.

That I think is potentially another very serious issue.

Especially when people at great risk from The Taliban were unable to get flights.

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Dec-21 17:00:56

WWM2 I watched that too and sat there open mouthed at some of the things they believed.

Jane43 Thu 09-Dec-21 17:02:23

People seem to believe things they read on Facebook or Twitter, no matter how fanciful. It is bizarre.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-Dec-21 17:04:26

There is so much that this government has done, lies about etc, it is difficult to keep up with it all.

It really is quite shocking.

alegrias it leaves me bewildered , I like to be able to find explanation for behaviours, but I simply can’t.

All those saying you we would rather have Boris Johnson as PM than Keir Starmer, what you are really saying is you prefer to have a lazy, lying, cheating, uncaring, individual as PM rather than a decent, honest, trustworthy individual who went into politics to try and improve things for the many not just his wealthy cronies.

It’s bizarre isn’t it?

Love your post Rosamurta- I'd love the idea of the WI running the country. My choice would be Jacinta Ardern, currently running NZ. However NZ has such a small population, they would ,surely, be able to organise themselves with a Parish Council?

Allsorts Thu 09-Dec-21 17:20:18

Jacinta Arden wouldn’t last a day here, we can’t get everyone to get the vaccine, protest about everything, give all minority groups rights over everyone else, we don’t do as we are told. People in New Zealand put the country first.

She's still ahead in the polls but her popularity is not totally universal.

He should go but he just doesn't seem to understand all the idiotic things he has been involved in and tries to cover up. Worryingly though, who would take over from him.

And what prove do you have of these allegations, it seems to me reading some of these comments that it is just labour supporters against the Tories. Boris has said that he had no knowledge of this party and wasn’t there and that he is going to investigate. I think most Gransnetters would be dead from COVID if that nutter Corbyn was in power. It’s laughable that whatever happens Starmer comes back with some childish counter attack. It was appalling that he used the tragic personal story of a woman who couldn’t see her dying Mother in hospital. Remember what Boris did to stop this virus from overrunning the country. He worked with the scientists who advised him. He took charge of the rollout of vaccines.

dolphindaisy Thu 09-Dec-21 17:51:28

Well said ALEGRIAS1 we don't need to make up anything about Johnson, can't be worse than the truth!

Nonny Thu 09-Dec-21 17:52:23

He should resign but he has no shame. Overnight he has become a father again and I expect that he will take paternity leave and hope that it will all blow over while he supervises nappy changing!

Oldbat1 Thu 09-Dec-21 18:01:16

I really can’t believe there are any Johnson supporters. He has no integrity whatsoever. He turns my stomach.

Madwoman11 Thu 09-Dec-21 18:09:24

He needs s size 10 up his nether regions if he doesn't as do his colleagues who have all made a mockery of the British government.

Casdon Thu 09-Dec-21 18:35:33

Boris lies consistently ajswan, there are numerous fact checks online from reputable news sources which prove that is the case. Here’s just one, but just name the topic and they are available.

This is not a Tory/Labour issue, I know people think that by saying how much they hate Labour it will detract from what Boris has done, but it really doesn’t. His behaviour is indefensible. All supporting him now does is make those people look like they have no morality either. The Tory Party must have people who could lead the country better than this, in fact it definitely has.

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Dec-21 18:51:49

It was appalling that he used the tragic personal story of a woman who couldn’t see her dying Mother in hospital.

What, more appalling than having an illegal party on government property while that woman was dying? Then laughing about breaking the rules?

As for Johnson taking charge of the vaccine rollout? That was Hancock, Bingham and countless NHS people we've never heard of. The only thing Johnson did was stay out of the way.

Some very dodgy attitudes on this thread.

Mollygo Thu 09-Dec-21 18:58:51

Do I think Boris should go- yes. But not because if Covid.
Do I think someone else could have made everyone in the UK wear masks, socially distance, have the vaccine?
NO.
There are too many selfish, unkind, ‘I know what’s best for me’ and ‘I don’t have to follow the rules’ people in this country so not even Jacinta Ardern would have succeeded.

Casdon Thu 09-Dec-21 19:04:10

Mollygo in the rest of the UK we have been wearing masks, socially distancing, using covid passports etc. all through the summer when it was dropped in England. We were already doing Plan B. For Covid issues, we listen to our own government leaders, not to Boris. In Wales and Scotland more people have been vaccinated than in England as well.

Nicola? Mark? Whoever is in charge of NI? (Sorry, I'm uninformed). All those UK countries who have been wearing the masks non stop, nothing to do with Johnson

Or is it just the English who are rebellious and self centred?

BlueBalou Thu 09-Dec-21 19:15:54

Yes, he definitely should go but I honestly don’t know who I would prefer in his place other than Ruth Davidson.
It’s truly grim.

varian Thu 09-Dec-21 19:22:17

Boris Johnson has never ever been known to do the decent thing. So, no I won't hold my breath waiting for him to resign. He will have to be booted out.

Mollygo Thu 09-Dec-21 19:39:42

One nephew and family lives in NI and he reported frequently about the refusers over there. Very worrying for him in his job, where he was frequently faced with maskless people.
Wales did slightly better, though there were sufficient reports of non compliance from there too.

I don’t know about Scotland. Possibly all Scots have constantly worn masks, not at the Women won’t Wheesht protest, oh and they were the people who travelled to London weren’t they?

kevincharley Thu 09-Dec-21 19:51:35

The only way he'll be prised out on No.10 is by us voting him out. His vanity won't allow him to accept that he should resign.
