My lovely neighbour (totally impractical!) told me this morning she was distressed as her lavatory was blocked and she had tried various methods to remedy this!
They mostly involved hot water, soda crystals and a stick.?

I asked why she hadn’t used a plunger, she says she didn’t have one and they were only for sinks anyway!
I explained a long handled plunger was a necessity in every home ( particularly if inhabited by a male) she left thinking I was bonkers to use a plunger in a lavatory.

What didn’t you know?

A venteuse is also a device for extracting babies from wombs. It is recommended that the same one should not be used for unblocking loos.

grin Thank you Grumpa. Reminds me of the wire brush joke that went the rounds in our far distant youth.

Talking of plungers I only found out this week that a car dent can be removed with one plus boiling water. My plunger is sitting by the door to remind me to try the method on the dent I received from a lady who drove out of the school drive into me. My car is not new so I decided not to bother with insurance. Here is the video.

Thanks for that I watched the video and I'll give it a try x

We used to have some fancy type of cistern, a syphonic loo I think, and I regularly had to use a plunger on that. Soda crystals and hot water just didn't do the trick.

My DH was always blocking the loo, I used to think NOT AGAIN! That phase seems to have passed and I think he wishes he could do it again, if you know what I mean!! I have a plunger on standby just in case. My DS used to use huge amounts of paper when he was small, never quite knew why he needed to use so much, that caused issues sometimes. So, yes, it seems to be the males in the households.

I’ve left a tape measure next to the loo.
I’ll get back to you

That made me giggle!

I misread that as "symphonic loo"
