Fractures are bad enough but a finger trapped in the car door is instant agony. Just hold on now to the end of the year, wrap yourself in cotton wool. They do say that misfortunes come in threes. 
Well, you won't be able to do much on Christmas Day except be waited on!

Why me? Not content with fracturing my hip earlier this year, I’ve now managed to trap my fingers in the car door and broken the tip of my middle finger. It’s all Santa Claus’ fault - if his sleigh wasn’t parked on our drive for tonight’s tour of the village, then my car wouldn’t have been parked half on/half off the pavement at a jaunty angle and the door wouldn’t have swung shut. He’d better leave me a decent present after this
