I’ll be cursing mine next Monday as I’ve had the usual request from DD, ‘Mum, do you think you could cook the gammon this year?’

I do chuckle at this because I end up doing it every year. ?

Gagagran like your cake recipe too. Sounds like one I should bake ?

I was wondering if someone was going to start a thread to raise a glass in memory of dear Phoenix
Well done Maw and how timely to bring back cursing the Gammon.
Dear Phoenix what laughter she brought to our lives. Lovely lady, warm heart and very much missed.

Not only is it funny, but it’s absolutely true.
The only thing I would add is having to keep opening the door or windows to let the steam out of the kitchen, then having to wipe them down to get the condensation off. Miss another 2 sherries.

I was reading this when my OH was opening a bottle of red wine to go into my cottage pie. I asked him how old it was. He thought he had better try it first, then had a second go … some did get in the dinner. We were both laughing too much to cook properly.

Cursing the Gammon is every bit as funny as it was first time round. Phoenix had such a fabulous sense of humour and your Christmas Cake recipe would certainly have appealed to her indeed Gagagran. Thank you too for giving us another festive giggle.

i loved this post but i have never cooked gammon and don't drink, i do have a slow cooker that everyone has said is brilliant but i have never used, maybe i will buy gammon and try it on the other hand i could just get it cold at the deli counter.
