Imagine that we have a new sparkly GN jukebox......free of charge, what records to choose and why? Do you just love a certain old record or does it bring back lovely memories?tchsmile

lemon, call yourself a friend??!!!!

I'm taking that awful song with me so it'll never be heard again. I can't stay in a room if it's played and now you've put the song in my head confused

Time for a sit down next to the GN jukebox with a cafe
Hmmm, what to choose?

Thinking of a certain friend who will have this song played at her funeral ( not that she’s dead as yet )?
White Christmas by Bing Crosby ( no need to thank me nanasam) ?

Wake me up before you Go-go
Last Christmas
(Wham)

Eternal Flame
Manic Monday
(The Bangles)

Something by REM?
Times Like These - Foofighters

Stars - Simply Red
If You Don't Know Me by Now - ditto

I'm not usually a fan of country music, but this is a good one.

The jukebox has some smoke spiralling from out the back, it hasn’t been used as much for years!?
Fortunately a GNHQ engineer is on hand for repairs.

I’ve just put three records on:
Hey Jude
Nights In White Satin
Ernie ( Benny Hill)
An eclectic mix I think you’ll agree.

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 11:09:48

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Annie's Song
Take me Home Country Roads

The late, lamented John Denver

sf101 Sun 12-Dec-21 10:34:12

Let's Get it On by Marvin Gaye. Love that song and anything else by him.

Kate1949 Sun 12-Dec-21 10:11:11

Yes kitty. Happy memories indeed. A romantic interlude from my past.

MissAdventure Sat 11-Dec-21 23:30:30

That was to MeeylStreep

I'm sure no-one else wants to listen to songs from the 1930s and 40s, Al Martino, Perry Como etc.

Just remembered In Your Easter Bonnet (another earworm from my childhood)

Calistemon Sat 11-Dec-21 23:13:17

My Mum had a lovely voice which I didn't inherit, she sang all the time.
I can remember the words of lots of these!

Little Grey Home in the West
Almost like Being in Love
You'll Never Know
Magic Moments
If I Loved You
Make Believe

Perhaps not jukebox material but happy memories.

Jane43 Sat 11-Dec-21 23:08:15

ixion

The House of the Rising Sun.

I would choose this too. When we first met I told my DH I liked the record by The Animals and after a couple of dates he bought it for me, 57 years later he is still as thoughtful.

MerylStreep Sat 11-Dec-21 22:57:03

Calistemon
So did mine. It was always played at their party’s together with her other favourite, Al Martino.
My OH is always amazed that I know all the words to these songs, that’s because it was my job at their party’s to load the record player and keep it wound up.

Calistemon Sat 11-Dec-21 22:49:02

My Mum loved that, MerylStreep
My sister-in-law loved Frankie Vaughan - Green Door

If we're going back to the 50's it has to be Rock Around the Clock - Bill Hailey and the Comets
Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis
Why must I be a Teenager in Love - Marty Wilde

1976 - Don't Go Breaking my Heart - Elton John and Kiki Dee

paddyann54 Sat 11-Dec-21 22:43:13

If you want to dance its got to be Young at Heart by the Bluebells ,or for a smoochie dance Last Request by Paolo Nutini

Dinahmo Sat 11-Dec-21 22:42:11

Can't Help Myself - Four Tops
Darling Be Home Soon - Lovin Spoonful
Good Vibrations - Beach Boys
God Only Knows - Beach Boys

MerylStreep Sat 11-Dec-21 22:37:44

Lemongrove
If we’re going back to the 50s it’s got to be Billy Eckstine singing No one but you.
