Have you seen William, Kate and the three children in this year’s Christmas card? Charles and Camilla have one with Charles adjusting Camilla’s face mask so very topical. They are lovely photos even if you aren’t into the RF, but it will bring a smile to those that are. Republicans will now jump on this thread and beat me up☹️ I’m off!!

I have a picture in my mind of a wedding night and having to ask your valet to do the necessary
Pathetic and unnecessarily vulgar 25 Avalon

I think that both cards are nice, unusual for the time of year, but in different ways. I think they’re trying to appeal to everybody and not do a traditional Christmas card so minorities are not offended.

The Charles and Camilla one is mildly funny. I like the William and Kate one, apart from Prince George’s camouflage shirt which looks unnecessarily military.

Those golden pouffes are everywhere in the Arabic world. Nothing special.

Look like they are going to commit a robbery , Is that why some don’t wear masks ? Thank you for the explanation

I saw a lot of would-be burglars today at the surgery and then the supermarket!

Love the Charles and Camilla card! Shows the affection between them, like an old married couple. A breath of fresh air from all the formality. Yes perhaps he helps her to get dressed in the morning too, after all Prince Albert famously used to help Queen Victoria to put her stockings on!

Just in case anyone missed it, always good to have an image.

Looks like they are going to commit daylight robbery well they've had plenty practice.

What is a monarchy if not the highest veneration of inequality? Based not on moral worth but on accidents of heredity, a small group of people are lavished with millions of dollars skimmed from the public till and are worshiped as sentimental nationalist gods, in exchange only for performing the duty of “being pleasant in public,” which they do with mixed success.

On the telly I have seen Charles giving Camilla’s waist a squeeze and I like to think that the poor, lonely chap has found happiness at last. The Christmas card is quite sweet.

William was sitting on a gold pouffe.

I think Charles helping Camilla adjust her mask is a lovely gesture. Who cares if he has ‘fat’ fingers, she obviously doesn’t.

I think all these little touches show just how much he thinks of her and he wants to help and support her in her role.

On their wedding day, at the blessing ceremony, you could see how nervous Camilla was, and I noticed Charles helping her find her place in her service sheet/hymn book.

They look a very contented couple.

Charles and Camillas picture is great, so natural, just caught in the act of helping, a nice and normal gesture with the added historical value of ‘the year we wore masks’ when it turns up in an auction in 59 years time
William, nice photo, but so formal and posed and what is he sitting on ?

But some people just love having a pop at Charles and Camilla

Gwyneth Sat 11-Dec-21 15:14:03

I like the Charles and Camilla photo it’s different and very topical.

Anniebach Sat 11-Dec-21 15:01:41

Looks are far more important than a message ‘wear masks’

Love the William and Kate one but C&C hmm Still neither of them are exactly attractive imho so thank goodness for small mercies. wink

MerylStreep Sat 11-Dec-21 14:51:14

Perhaps if some of you bothered to look at the pic of Charles and Camilla you would see that she’s holding a clutch bag in one hand.

MissAdventure Sat 11-Dec-21 14:48:47

He looks as if he's pulling that mask out, and is going to........
(((PING))) it on her nose! grin

Anniebach Sat 11-Dec-21 14:35:18

He used a farmhouse loo, and put his jacket off and on when
dry stone walling with some youngsters in Wales, no valet

Natural and topical, and better than the formal posed ones the RF used to put out. Their Christmas cards are not really of much interest to me, as I'm not likely to receive one to display prominently on my mantlepiece - I suppose if I wanted to pretend to be what I am not I could always print off Josianne's image onto a bit of card and scrawl something unreadable on it.

As for all the myths about toothpaste and toilet seats and valets, the toilet seat wasn't taken around with him, it was purchased and installed by somebody at some place he was visiting (heaven knows why) and Charles probably laughed at it as much as anyone else. The toothpaste being squeezed out by a valet was when he had a broken arm - anyone who has suffered similarly with remember how difficult little things like that are. He has a valet because his clothes always have to be kept immaculate , imagine the media's field day if he turned up with missing buttons or egg on his tie (or his face) The valet doubtless lays out the approriate togs for that day's engagements, and gives a hand with bow ties etc, but I don't think Charles actually stands there like a stookie while someone says "Left leg in now, sir", and pulls the zip up.

And he does have fat fingers too so I'm not sure he could cope with fastenings and mask elastics!

grin I'm not keen on the C & C one either. Perhaps he helps her to dress in the morning?

I thought he couldn’t even dress himself without his valet. ?

It may be a personal thing I hate people touching my face, honestly I just cant look at that card. I hope they dont send me one.
