And we all joined in in explaining why we thought it was a dangerous link and how to make sure in the future that more people would find links more comfortable to click on. That ended well.

I didn't click on the dishwasher one either.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:47:23

And the url I posted about a dishwasher was about 3 miles long.
I don't know how to shorten them. smile

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 16:44:17

But bluebelle did say what it was about.
Almost immediately after posting it. smile

MissAdventure

Perhaps you could explain it first, just as Bluebelle did with one question as to what it was about.

If it looks dodgy and the url is much longer that you expect, don't click on it.

If nobody tells you what its about, don't click on it.

If there are grammatical errors associated with the message don't click on it.

The whole bloody forum is awash with links!!!
Every political point is made with a link!
Anything anyone wants to buy is done with a link!
Any charities people like to point out that they support gives a link!

You carry on then and open every link you some across, even the ones that look dodgy. Then you can tell us all about how your PC is infected with viruses and you can't use it any more.

Goodness sake. Have some common sense.

www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/04/how-to-spot-a-link-you-shouldnt-click-on/

You can click on this if you like. What's the worst that could happen?

The link is safe! Stop making a song and dance………

Stop making a song and dance

Huh? You think people shouldn't be wary of clicking on random links on social media?

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 16:01:52

Here's an link to an interview with a lady from Australia that I found interesting to watch, its heart-breaking, and concerns the Stolen Generation. What a difficult life she had. Do you have any thoughts?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osg9T7wCF1E

That's how you do it. angry

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 15:57:02

I m not going to apologise if you were upset alergias there was nothing visual or unacceptable to see, if you can’t listen to an old lady’s story that’s a problem for you to sort

Well I thought I was being quite supportive of you BlueBelle but thanks for throwing that back in my face.

Why not pop over to the trigger warning thread we had a few days ago and tell them they're all softies who need to man up.

I have watched Rabbit Proof Fence. Twice. Did you notice they changed the ending when it was shown in Australia? Don't try to be superior. It won't work. And you don't hear things through your eyes.

BlueBelle Sun 12-Dec-21 15:50:55

Thanks Callistomom
peasblossom I didn’t consider I needed to add anything it was the lady s story not mine

Of course most of us know the story but there’s no harm in hearing it again through new eyes is there ?
I just wanted people to see the lifelong effects some people endure…. has anyone watched the film ‘ Rabbitproof Femce ‘
If I had just told the story everyone would have said where’s a link
But forget it folks carry on moaning about Meghan or covid or the cold weather

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 14:57:21

I should add, it's a very serious subject which has been completely derailed

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 14:56:32

Blimey, Bluebelle, being attacked from all sides.

You could ask for your thread to be deleted or just keep on fending off the attacks!!

AmberSpyglass Sun 12-Dec-21 14:53:57

And someone who’s new won’t know that you’ve been here 10 years, will they?

Peasblossom Sun 12-Dec-21 14:48:24

Why not just say what it’s about in the Title?

Calistemon Sun 12-Dec-21 14:44:59

BlueBelle

I can totally understand not clicking on a link that a new or unknown poster posted but blimey I ve been here nearly 10 years maybe more You must know me by now but never mind wish I d kept it to myself now

No it’s not about cruelty to animals just people but guess that’s watchable then it’s just an old lady recounting her life it’s no one getting shot killed or tortured do you really think I m that insensitive

My remark about it being just cruelty to human beings was facetious, Bluebelle, hope you realised that.

It is heartbreaking, led to decades of drug and alcohol abuse too.
I know people who are working in the communities to try to help but still the Government can't get it right and still there is much prejudice.

Alegrias1 Sun 12-Dec-21 14:44:53

We don't know BlueBelle. We don't know what you are able to tolerate and you don't know how sensitive any of us are.

I started to watch after people had said it was safe but I managed to get about a minute in before I had to turn it off. Too sad for me.

I lived in Australia for a while so I know what these stories are like. None of this is a reflection on you, but please have some empathy with people who don't want to take the chance of watching something that will upset them, let alone click on a link of unknown origin.

The post is genuine the link is genuine there is no way I would post anything that was dodgy
I hope now you know it’s safe you will look at it , it needs watching it’s a heartbreaking story than many people don’t recognise

Namsnanny Sun 12-Dec-21 14:08:04

Galaxy

Namsnanny my bank balance may not be alive but that's nothing to do with the link it's to do with reckless Christmas spending and a half price event involving Christmas light up reindeer in homebase .

Oh yes I popped into HB for that event too, but most of the nice things had gone by the time I got there.
Your reindeer sounds great, any chance of a link???

And yet the forum usually has people insisting on links to back up any opinion someone might hold.
hmm

I was going to try to post a link to a site that explained how to avoid dodgy links. Then I realised nobody would open it. grin

?

Witzend

I suspected it could be something to do with cruelty to animals, (which I would never watch, since it would haunt me for ever) so that’s why I wanted to know.

Same here Witzend

Don't worry, it is only about cruelty to human beings!

lemsip Sun 12-Dec-21 13:49:11

I would not click on that link!

MissAdventure Sun 12-Dec-21 12:45:52

Alas she saw
And didn’t think
Of dangers lurking
In a link!
