Safe journey dogsmakemesmile and take care on the roads if you’re travelling as I think there’s quite a bit of snow and ice in the forecast

Morning everyone. I disappeared for a couple of days (though posted on another thread yesterday before falling asleep) as on visit to my mother whose health was causing concern. She appears to have rallied. Should set off home soon but forecast is poor so may be spending night in another hotel somewhere in north of England/as near to Scotland as possible.\ Dh and I have never set off without "a plan" so exciting times ahead. Main thing is my mother's health. Thinking of you all.x

A now belated Happy Birthday Kitty. I hope you enjoyed your cupcakes. I love new bed linen! We have several spare sets to get rid of. DD & SiL are home from visiting his folks, so will be off to their house, taking the granddog with them.
Sleep tight everyone

‘Evening All’.

It’s late.
I’ve been on the phone chatting to family members about the family funeral tomorrow morning . Setting out my clothes. Snow is forecast mid-morning on high ground in the Oldham area.

Thank you for the picture Blossoming it looks lovely and a very well done with the walking
I’ve had a busy but enjoyable day, I went splashing around at the Aqua class at the gym, there were a lots of new ladies there, everyone starting off new classes in January. Then across the road to Starbucks with my pal for a sandwich, we were there quite a while chatting away and exchanging news. After that a trip to Tesco to pick up a few things we needed.
Whilst I was out DH put all the Christmas decorations away into the garage so we’re all sorted and tidy now
I’m keeping everything crossed for you Anno let’s hope you stay clear of covid ?

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. It’s been a beautiful winter’s day here, bright and very cold. I went for a walk along the riverside path and ended up doing more than I’d intended. By the time I got home the partly paralysed leg was threatening to fold up underneath me. Turned out I’d walked 1.5 miles, which would have been impossible a month ago. My drive for wellness must be working smile. I won’t be doing it again tomorrow though, I’m really tired now! The weather forecast is not good for tomorrow, so will get on my bike indoors. Too tired to eat but could be tempted by a bit of birthday cake if there’s any left cupcake

Happy Birthday, Kitty. And best wishes for a good (or better) year to follow.
I hope all you kitcheners are keeping warm. I was beginning to get used to this mild winter but now... I'm typing wearing wrist warmers which somehow increase the number of typos I have to correct, so if I miss one, please forget it.
DS1 tested positive yesterday. I was with him last Sunday so am keeping fingers crossed and testing regularly. He gave my name to Track and Trace, so there was a long and boring form to complete from them. Yesterday he said he would work at home but by lunchtime he'd thrown in the towel. Today he says it's no worse than a bad cold. Last week, I had a scare: having seen and hugged GS1, I heard the next day that he had tested positive. I must stop living dangerously!
TOYA

Happy days Grandmabatty and warm memories created ❤️ Voluntary day on the phones today, no let up here on hospital appointments/GP/Dentists. My dentist rescheduled my checkup due this afternoon, I didn’t mind a bit, coward that I am.
It’s been chilly, but bright, not that I was out much, forecast very cold tonight, rain tomorrow.
I hope you’re having the best day kitty ?
Have a gentle evening all x

Happy Birthday kitty

kittylester Wed 05-Jan-22 17:34:41

Thank you for the birthday wishes! My friend made someovely cupcakes for me and I was going to bring them in to share but, seeing the one muse made it doesn't look as though they are needed.

I've had a lovely day - buying new duvet covers!! That's enough excitement at my advanced age!!

Lovely pictures of babies and musical young men.

When DGS3 was young he WAS Fireman Sam. I spent a lot of time being rescued from the top of very tall buildings.

Grannmarie Wed 05-Jan-22 17:32:42

Hello, lovely Kitchen people, and many happy returns of the day, KittyLester. flowerscupcake

I'm testing most days now, as suggested by our Diocese, as I'm a volunteer at my local church. I drive a frail lady to Mass most mornings, masks on and windows slightly open, then I'm on the Covid clean team afterwards. We use fogger machine daily. It's funny how quickly the Lateral Flow testing becomes part of the morning routine. I picked up another pack from the pharmacy on my way home.
I had a cold and frosty park walk with my sisters at lunchtime, lovely blue skies and winter sun, we were well wrapped up! I now need to make an effort with my ' to do ' list, very little has been done in the house! I've taken down the Christmas cards but need to find the energy to pack up the ornaments, nativities and tree.
TOYA.

These are days of sweet innocence with your little Boy Wonder (even though he wears you out) ?

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Jan-22 17:17:23

We've played hide and seek in the past Tillytrotter but not for a while. That wee voice saying, "Come on, grandma," and taking my hand melts my heart.

TillyTrotter Wed 05-Jan-22 16:56:27

Grandmabatty I played with my friend’s young GS whenever she looked after him. He usually wore a policeman outfit - his favourite- and the game was I had to be the burglar, and go and hide, and he was the policeman who found me and arrested me.
It will be no surprise that his daddy was a policeman!
Hi BladeAnnie ? and Duncan ?.

BladeAnnie Wed 05-Jan-22 16:37:10

A quick hello from me and Duncan and happy birthday Kitty ???

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Jan-22 16:23:22

I am lying on the couch after a full on babysitting stint. The Boy Wonder is so stubborn and is having major temper tantrums when he doesn't get his own way but is easily distracted. He has eaten me out of house and home today and we've had to hide in my bed and play with various you animals. I have been a lion roaring. I had to make different sharks and dragons from playdough too. I am exhausted but so glad to have this wee man in my life. Homemade burgers on rolls for tea. And a bit of cake from Muse. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

TillyTrotter Wed 05-Jan-22 14:32:40

Happy Birthday to You ? kittylester . ????
That’s a mighty fine cake muse did you bake it?

Hello to all kitchen peeps. What a chilly day bbbrrrrr ⛄️?

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Jan-22 13:17:58

Happy birthday to Kittylester despite many buggerations for you today regarding decorators.

muse Wed 05-Jan-22 12:07:58

I hear it's your birthday kitty. Cake has just arrived in the kitchen for you. Have a lovely day.

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Jan-22 08:37:14

Suedonim I am full of awe at your cleaning out/throwing out skills. I have two wardrobes and a large hall cupboard that I want to clear out. They aren't too bad, as I've only been here three years, but bad enough! Today is a babysitting one so it won't be today. Enjoy seeing your grandchildren.

maddyone Tue 04-Jan-22 23:18:53

Grandmabatty thank you so much.
Today I went to see a friend of mine who has cancer. It’s not fully diagnosed yet, but that’s what the doctors think. Next week she’ll get the results of the final tests and then hopefully start treatment. She’s really quite unwell, but she enjoyed having a chat this afternoon.
Otherwise, not much to report. We’re leading a quiet life at the moment with Covid being so wide spread. Of course I did a test before I visited my friend.
Have a good sleep everyone.

Hellogirl It is a text messaging service. If someone sends a text to your landline an automated voice reads the message out to you. Unfortunately it’s often misused by scammers so I’d continue to cut them off if I were you. I think the most recent ones are Covid test scammers.

SueDonim Tue 04-Jan-22 22:46:02

Snow here, too, although it doesn’t seem too bad at the moment. Lots of trees down in the winds, though, which I assume are the ones that were battered by storm Arwen but didn’t fall at the time.

I’ve had a productive day today. The decorator has been and gone and done an excellent job. He even cleaned the outside of the fridge-freezer for me! I’m determined to not put back all the junk I removed from the rooms, I shall ‘curate’ what needs to go back and try to find homes for other items if I want to keep them but don’t often use them.

I also turfed out a large number of books from a book case, asking myself if I’d ever read them or look at them again. Mostly, the answer was no. blush Photos are in my line of fire, too. I binned all the scenes of places I cannot identify and just kept the people and pets ones. Also some to give to dd, as they’re hers, not mine. It feels good to be doing this!

Tomorrow, Lateral Flows permitting, we’ll be going down to visit dd1 and see the GC. Our Big Boy is even bigger now and likes to sleep eleven or twelve hours at night, much to his mother’s astonishment and delight!

Sweet dreams, everyone. Xx
