BladeAnnie Duncan has not been so comfortable for a long time. A cardboard box would have been just as good.

It has been so dull and miserable I have not bothered even opening the curtains.

‘Evening All’

Home now following a lovely afternoon with Christmas dinner at our youngest daughter’s. Stepfather was fetched too so 4 generations were together - cosy, happy, well fed and watered and grateful to be so.

I hope you all enjoyed The Day.
As my dear mum used to say to me about now “well it’s as far away now as it’ll ever be!”.

Glad to see Duncan received appropriately wrapped Christmas tributes and hoping everyone has had as happy a day as they can. DD and I visited DH this morning while SDiL cooked a splendid lunch. Some gentle television and now clearing away the debris of wrapping paper so we can have a little supper and watch Call the Midwife (I think).

Thought HM’s Christmas message was spot on though I did notice no Andrew in the montage of pictures.

Hope you have all had a lovely day. We didn't get to see our grandchildren today in person but had a lovely family zoom.
I also enjoyed Christmas lunch out with some of my family.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. We have had a lovely peaceful day, thoughtful and much appreciated presents, and a delicious dinner cooked by Mr. B. Tomorrow we are visiting family so I don’t think I will be online. Hope everyone has had a good day, TOYA.

Hello Soop and all Kitcheners. I hope this finds you feeling well today. Had a lovely and cosy Christmas with a few family members including one dog and three cats. The kitchen was kept warm by the old oven working overtime. A very peaceful and enjoyable day. Ate too much all month so starting today I will vow to do better!

Nannyfaraway your GC’s photo is wonderful. Full of Christmas cheer, and they are gorgeous children. Thank you for sharing.
BladeAnnie Duncan is so photogenic - does he have his own Instagram account? ?

Good morning all kitcheners. We had a lovely day yesterday at our son’s house, celebrating Christmas with sons number one and two with their families, which included our nine year old grandson and son number two’s in laws. On Christmas Eve evening we had a whole family zoom call with our daughter in New Zealand and her three very excited children who had already unwrapped their presents as it was already Christmas Day over there. Our grandson in England was busy tracking Santa’s progress from New Zealand to the UK during the call. Santa was over Nigeria as we spoke. Then on our Christmas morning another zoom call, but just with our daughter and her husband as the children were in bed as it was late evening over there. We had received the most gorgeous picture frame from or daughter, with the most absolutely beautiful selection of photographs of themselves and the children. It was so lovely that it brought me to tears, our gorgeous grandchildren and our daughter and husband are missed so very much.
Anyway onwards and upwards, today the family from yesterday will be here for a buffet. So I’d better get cracking soon. Have a lovely Boxing Day everyone.

I forgot to say, we visited my 94 year old mother yesterday before we went to our son’s house. The boys so wanted us to take her with us, but her massively reduced mobility, the fact that she gets tired easily, can’t get of normal chairs any longer, and her toileting needs mean it’s no longer safe or practical to take her out for a whole day to to a home not adapted to her needs. It’s sad, but it is what it is. Son number one visited on Christmas Eve, us on Christmas Day, and son number two will visit today.

Happy Boxing Day dear kitcheners. Duncan says thank you to all his fans for the lovely comments but he's had to go into hiding today - due to the imminent arrival of small people!! I hope everyone managed to have a good day yesterday - I know lots of people didn't have the day they would have wished for. TOYA ??

soop Sun 26-Dec-21 12:25:32

hulahoop If I haven't welcomed you before, I do so now. I seem to have missed any previous post mentioning something that has obviously caused you much pain. Please enlighten me, if you wish. (HUGS)

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. You lovely lot are never far from my thoughts. smile

Charleygirl5 Sun 26-Dec-21 13:17:33

BladeAnnie it is Duncan's house so he should remind the small people of this. Still, he does need some shuteye.

Another dull,m miserable day but thankfully no high winds or snow.

Look after yourselves.

Good afternoon kitcheners on a dreich Boxing Day. I had a lovely time with family yesterday and have spent this morning tidying up the kitchen and dining room. I've just had such a nice lunch of paté, brie, olives, and cranberry relish and toast. I love leftovers!! I'm driving ds home in a while, then more leftovers for tea with a little white wine. To crown it all, I'm wearing jeans I have never been able to get into to and my jumpers and tops I got yesterday are two sizes smaller than previous ones. I'm a happy bunny.

cornergran Sun 26-Dec-21 13:45:38

Suns out here. Such a treat.

We’re back from a truly wonderful Christmas Day with our eldest. He would have been alone otherwise, is picking up his daughters in an hour then coming here for a while before heading home with them. We had a delicious meal in the village pub, couldn’t fault it, such a happy, friendly atmosphere with superbly cooked food. All lateral flowed before we went and again today. Its been a horrid year for him. A divorce finalised after several years of pressure, the tortuous process to close down his workplace is coming to the end. He’s a toughie but it’s noticeably taken it’s toll on him.

Our other son had a positive lateral flow this morning, attended for a PCR an hour ago. He works in retail, in a busy store all last week. Fingers are crossed for him and his family. He’s got cold symptoms, could well be covid, time will tell.

Pleased to read about everyone’s Christmas, for better or worse. It can be a time of extremes I always think, sad for many while joyous for others with many folk in the middle.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

SueDonim Sun 26-Dec-21 14:27:56

Aw, Duncan! ❤️ Isn’t it funny how cats just know? My son’s cat went into hiding on Thursday because their cleaners were coming. Except the cleaners never arrived (they ‘forgot’) and the cat was completely confused and spent all day under the bed!
