Hello all.
So nice to read of lovely family days.
I am unutterably sad today remembering past Boxing days but must get past it.
My GD, her friend and I went out for Christmas Day lunch yesterday, it was very good but my small appetite couldn’t do justice to the very expensive meal.
With taxis each way, drinks, lots for the girls, we could have made a third world country self sufficient for a day.
Please don’t criticise that as a crass remark.
I have been tearful all day
I hope you have as good a Boxing Day as you can.
AS someone else has said, my mother would now be saying thank goodness that is over for another year, she did not like Christmas.

We’re just back home from a walk by the riverside in town, it’s so very cold and frosty, no snow but white frozen ground and frozen icy puddles. We enjoyed the fresh air which definitely blew away the cobwebs. Later we’re just going to heat up some leftovers to keep us going and continue with the chocolates. It sounds like you’ve done so well grandmabatty by dropping two dress sizes - well done - not like me!

I’m so sorry annsixty I know you’ll be missing your husband this Christmas, and all others who are sad at this time of year, I’m thinking of you all. My husband lost his mother in December. She was 94 and very ill at the end and so in many ways it was a relief. She lived a long time and it was a life well lived, we remember her kindness and generosity of spirit.
Nonetheless we have enjoyed our Christmas. Last Christmas we were ill with Covid and isolating. A week later I was admitted to hospital as I was very ill and needing oxygen and eight different medications to eventually make me well. So for us, despite our darling daughter and family being in New Zealand, we have enjoyed a much better Christmas this year. We’ve all been testing regularly and we are all negative, now at any rate.
Sending loving thoughts to all who are sad at this special time of year.

We’re lucky, had a quite day together, bubble and squeak with cold and pickles done, watching The Larkins.

We’re not long back home after takeaway curries at our daughter’s house. My stepfather really enjoyed the change and said ‘that just hit the spot, it was perfect’. A happy bunch sat round their table.

I’m feeling tired, so will say goodnight dear Gransnetters. I will tell you about my Boxing Day tomorrow.

We had a good day yesterday, first of all visiting DS2 (Christmas Day lunch with 17 round the table plus a baby) and then back to visit DS1 to exchange presents. They have just acquired 2 kittens which were having great fun amidst the wrapping paper and packaging. Luckily their dog seems to have accepted the kittens. Today we managed a walk - very muddy because I think we must have had really heavy rain during the night. We haven't seen the sun at all for about a week which is just a little bit depressing.

Nannyfaraway The photograph of your grandchildren is delightful. Such pride on big sister's pretty face. I would have this enlarged and framed.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. We had such a lovely day yesterday, seeing my siblings at my sister’s house. 2 years since we were last together. The motorway was quite quiet, it’s usually busy on Boxing Day so maybe people are not travelling as much as pre-Covid. So tired today, so not much planned. Hope you have managed to find a little Christmas happiness.

annsixty I can feel your sense of weariness with the effort of putting on a brave, smiley face "because it's Christmas". For far too many people it is a lonely, empty time.

I am happy to hear that so many of you lovely lot have enjoyed the festivities.

I had a buggeration of a Boxing Day. If I say that I was confined to the bathroom...you will understand why it was that we had to cancel the invitation to visit our good friends in their home. It would have been a treat to share a few hours with them. But, it wasn't to be.

Torben, our young grandson has been poorly with Covid. Like many young people, he has coped with the symptoms. Family phone calls helped to brighten the day. We haven't seen Sweetie Pie for about a week. Naturally, every time we pass the window, we look out and hope to see her sweet, little face. Mr Soop has stocked her cupboard with all manner of fine feline cuisine.

I am sorry I was such a misery yesterday, everything just seemed too much to cope with.
My D has been quite ill for several days, not Covid ,but the GP, without seeing her treated her for “possible pneumonia “ with instructions to ring back to get a chest x-ray after 3 days of AB’s if she felt no better.
Fortunately she did but of course she couldn’t visit me and whilst we have plans for her to come on Jan2nd, she may not be up to the 5 hour drive.
I haven’t seen them since June and at 84…..
A quiet day again today, I have packed my presents away, the house has been very untidy but getting back to normal.
Have a restful day if that is what you need or another busy one if that is on the cards.

Soop and Annsixty ? for you two in particular. It's such an emotive time of year, isn't it? I'm hoping urms is much better now.
Today I have turned my house back from a Christmas wonderland to mine own. I found it very therapeutic. Washings going on shortly. I'm just pottering around. I hope you all have a good afternoon and evening.

Dear you lovely, special lot, I apologise. I should not have wandered into our cosy kitchen in order to moan. I feel thoroughly ashamed of myself. Please put my lapse down to thing called "drop bot". It will be sorted. I have many of you to thank for the promise of freedom once the surgery has been carried out. So, yet again, sorry for being a miserable old lady. I do in fact have much to be grateful for. You know that I am usually upbeat and positive. I shall do very much better from hereon.

Mr Soop and I are about to watch 'Bridge on the River Kwai' for the umpteenth time. It's one of those films that will stand the test of time.

Hello everyone! I hope you are feeling better today soop and that everyone who has been sad at Christmas is getting back onto an even keel. It’s all over now. Well, nearly!
We are expecting the small people shortly, with daddy and a pile of washing. I am hoping they get their tumble dryer fixed very soon!

No apology needed soop you know your kitchen is a safe, understanding place where thoughts can be aired without judgement.
You and many other kitchen peeps have things to legitimately moan about. I hope your suffering with ‘drop bot’ is soon to come to an end. It’s what I wish more then anything for you, for the New Year. ?

We have washing machine trouble and a pile of washing to do after visitors stayed. Never mind. All these things are sent to try us.

I’ve been to the gym for a splash around at the Aqua class and a catch up with good pals talking about our Christmases. The best bit was sat in the very warm jacuzzi after the class where all the stress just floated away … after that I popped into town to have a browse in the M&S and Next sale but didn’t really see anything I liked.
Another quiet evening planned here in front to the TV with a glass of something and a few more nibbles …

soop and annsixty ??. Hope you are both feeling a little better. Washing machine problems are never good Tilly especially after you've had guests ??. I was meant to have a quiet day today but still seemed to be busy with one thing and another. We had a lovely family feast yesterday and Mr BA is currently cooking up bubble and squeak with the leftovers - yum ??. Wishing you all a peaceful evening
