‘Evening All’

A meandering sort of day which was lovely. Himself peeled veggies - potatoes, sprouts and cauliflower as I had a need for fresh vegetables to go with dinner this evening. Then we took a stroll round to the little family who live just the other side of the park from us. L’il Miss was sat at the breakfast bar with mummy writing her name on some birthday party invitations. She is SO excited to be FIVE this month.

We called in at the wine bar in the square and enjoyed a warming mulled wine then up eat. Delicious and sated my craving. Himself has been watching football. I’ve just watched last night’s episode of ‘Anne’ with the great actress Maxine Peake. Episode 2 later this evening...

Gorgeous new baba Maw so tiny and perfect. x

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I just typed a long post but the interwebnet has eaten it so I’m off to bed. Goodnight, TOYA

Urmstongran Mon 03-Jan-22 22:02:36

I don’t think I’ve ever known this place to be so quiet.

Doodle Mon 03-Jan-22 22:53:42

Cooee Urms I’m around ? . Off to bed soon though. I’m tired today. Sleep well all.

Grandmabatty Mon 03-Jan-22 23:13:17

Just back from family curry night minus karaoke as none of us could be bothered. I'm stuffed full of lovely homemade curries and wine. Off to bed now. See you lot tomorrow. Night night

muse Mon 03-Jan-22 23:34:05

Very good news grandmabatty. I'm sure you will get that one to one call soon now.

Sorry about the +ive tests *annsixty. Hopefully the PCR tests will be available soon. Take care.

Very tired. I've been nodding all evening so must leave the sofa and get off to bed. Night Kitcheners.

muse Mon 03-Jan-22 23:34:40

Beautiful photographs today. Thank you.

Grannmarie Mon 03-Jan-22 23:56:10

Good evening, lovely Kitchen people!
I dozed this afternoon, so now I have my second wind. I ironed two sets of bedding whilst watching Call the Midwife on catch up, made a to do list for the week, had a nice bubble bath with a mug of red bush tea on the side...
Now I'm watching Stay Close with James Nisbet and a few kent faces...
TOYA, NNGB.

Evening everyone! As always, we are very late to bed. I hope you are all safely asleep, as I hope to be soon. Last night it was after 3 am before I dozed off. I was not impressed.
Dentist in the morning- not a favourite pastime.

I’m sorry covid has landed with your granddaughter, ann, you sound exhausted, hope you’ve slept. Please don’t assume you’ll share it. Our son has been proper poorly with covid, he’s out of isolation today. Our fabulous daughter in law hasn’t a sign of it. She’s lateral flow tested each day, we’re all very relieved as she has a serious heart issue.

It’s been quiet here, I’m still full of what I’m calling boomerang bugs. I feel better for half a day then it’s back. I’ve woken with earache this morning, grumble, grumble. Determined to get some air today, if the rain stops. Very wet out there from what I can see.

We did put Christmas away yesterday, it seemed very dark and gloomy without the tree lights so some battery lights reappeared. Much better smile.

Good to hear about the message grandmabatty. Your narcissi will have me hunting some down grandmajean, just love the perfume. A real sense of Spring

I’m off to put the kettle on now, hope I don’t wake Mr C, he’ll sleep for ages yet if undisturbed.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

annsixty Tue 04-Jan-22 06:55:38

Thank you corner I am hoping my jabs and booster and my normal good health apart from “mechanical” things I.e. knees and hips, will help.
I hope your poorly S soon feels better and doesn’t develop long Covid, I only hear of it but don’t really understand the implications.
My family are going home today accompanied by a huge sense of relief from me.
Sad to say I don’t enjoy their visits like I should.
One of those things.
My D is 56 and since she and her H separated 6 years ago now she has been a different person.
It is as it is.
I have not slept but hopefully tonight will be different.
Fortunately my GD feels ok, hers isn’t the bad cold variety and she will resume working from home in her bedroom today.
I haven’t looked out at the weather but it sounds dry.
I hope it stays mild as we need windows open a crack in each room to blow the germs away.
I hope you all have the best day you can x

Grandmajean Tue 04-Jan-22 08:53:54

Cornergran I got my little bunch of narcissi in Waitrose - was looking for daffs but they didn't have any and the narcissi caught my eye. When I unwrapped them I noticed it was actually two small bunches which was just as well considering they are tiny ! DH was pushing a trolley and I was behind him with the flowers like a pitiful
"always the bridesmaid"smile

maddyone Tue 04-Jan-22 11:07:36

Good morning to everyone in the kitchen. I haven’t looked in for a couple of days so apologies if I don’t respond directly to you all. However I have read all your posts and looked at the beautiful pictures of the babies, the flowers, and the views.
I hope you’re okay soop and hoping your appointment comes through quickly.
We’ve chatted several times to our daughter and family in New Zealand over Christmas and new year. I miss them so much and wonder when we’ll see them again. We’ve had nice family times over the festive period though, with the boys and families. My mother managed to upset me again over new year, but she’s been doing that all her life, so nothing new there. She’s a trouble to me unfortunately.
Mr M is downstairs taking down the decorations and tree. I’m being incredibly lazy, drinking coffee and wasting time on Gransnet, whilst sitting upstairs on the bed.

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Jan-22 11:14:51

maddyone I have a difficult mother so I sympathise. ?

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Jan-22 11:47:26

You must be exhausted annsixty, a restful few days on the cards, hopefully with a doze or two x

BladeAnnie Tue 04-Jan-22 15:26:01

Afternoon dear kitcheners - hope everyone is well (or as well as can be in the current circumstances). Tuesday again so visiting my mum with her shopping shortly and I've forgotten to order toilet rolls so I'll be in bother again I expect ?. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday ?

brook2704 Tue 04-Jan-22 16:07:49

Just popping into the lovely warm kitchen, we’ve heavy snow here in Inverness and it’s very cold ? ⛄️
Luckily I didn’t need to go out today so I’ve been putting away the Christmas decorations and having a good cleaning session. Everywhere is looking clean but quite bare so I’m going to put a few clear white lights back up and call them our ‘winter lights’ rather than Christmas lights
Our flight home yesterday from DD1 in Cambridge was fine with no delays and it was good to get home to my own bed, although I always feel a bit sad when I leave and I miss them all so much
I hope you’re managing a well earned rest now annsixty and I hope you stay clear of covid, everything crossed for you

soop Tue 04-Jan-22 16:21:13

Apologies for a very late arrival. I've been painting a pet portrait and got carried away.

It is WILD outside. I haven't seen such enormous waves crashing on the shore in a very long time. The snow plough went by a short time ago. An ominous sign. So far, we've had a short-lived hail storm. Nothing dramatic but the sky is leaden.

For all of our Kitcheners who are recovering from the stresses and strains and high jinx of the festive season - take a break and recover your equilibrium.

No post delivered today. Patience comes second nature to me after such a long time of hoping and waiting. No point in getting my knickers in a twist. wink

I shall tidy the so-called studio. Fingers crossed that we escape a power cut anytime soon. The lights flicker from time to time. Not a healthy sign.

A hail storm is battering the window pane. It started so suddenly and startled me for a mo'.

Hunker down, lovely peeps. Stay safe and warm. Hopefully we'll gather again tomorrow sometime. smile moon

TillyTrotter Tue 04-Jan-22 16:46:52

Oh blimey soop you are in the way of a storm by the sound of it. Stay “hunkered down”, keep safe and as you say patient.
I really hope you keep your power as life will be easier.
It shall pass. ? Thinking of you.

Blossoming Tue 04-Jan-22 17:39:03

Good evening dear Kitcheners, hope you are all safe and warm. It has been glorious sunshine here but very cold. I have been for a walk across the bridge and around the marina. Definitely big coat weather and I was glad of my hat and gloves.

The boats look lovely in the sun and make me think of summer days, but it’s chilly out on the water.

Urms I started keeping a food diary in MyFitnessPal yesterday. My next DPP meeting is on 10th January so I’ll have one full week by then. It’s very easy to do and I’m just using the free app.

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Jan-22 19:58:45

Cold, cold here, +2, I’d like some snow please brook.
Farm shop earlier for fresh supplies, then a quick drink in our local which was very quiet.
Back to voluntary work on the phone tomorrow, time flies by.
Take care all, watch out for ice!

Urmstongran Tue 04-Jan-22 20:28:25

‘Evening All’

Weather here today was very similar to yours Blossoming! (Thanks for the tip I shall take a look). I had a lovely walk with my friend, through two parks, looping back then around a bit. Then we ended up outside a bar we both like at 2pm. How ever did that happen?
?
We enjoyed a toasted cheese sandwich and a large glass of wine. A very nice NY meet up. I will see her next month now - when we are back from Malaga.

Early mug of Horlicks for me in half an hour and settle down to the next episode of ‘Four Lives’.

? Doodle I was in bed when you posted last night. ?

Doodle Tue 04-Jan-22 21:49:21

That ok Urms I should have popped round and knocked on the door, that would have woken you up ?
TOYA ?

Hellogirl1 Tue 04-Jan-22 22:35:32

What lovely babies we breed on Gransnet! Gorgeous pics.
Ann, I hope you manage to escape covid, but if you get it I hope it will be mild.
Does anyone else on here get nuisance calls (several each day) from 0845602111? They say (recording) that they are a BT text messaging service, which I don`t believe. I`ve had 3 calls in the last half hour, have been getting them for months, and am heartily SICK of them!
