Very pretty tree NannyTopsy, I’m on a strict watering regime with ours as the heating is on.
A quieter day today, Tesco delivered, everything there, isn’t it boring putting it all away, worse when I used to actually go.
Curry made for dinner, a quiet evening planned.

Make a fuss of that Pussy cat soop! Charlie got very upset this morning when someone brought a TREE into his house! I have finished the cards and now the tree is done. Christmas can begin now.

Hello, Kitcheners. I’ve missed a few days, being so busy with family and so on. Yesterday we waved ds1 off at crack of dawn to the US again - who knows when we’ll next meet? He’s planning for summer 2022 but that’s a long way away just yet….

Then on to the dentist, where thankfully there were no horrors awaiting us. The hygienist is brutal though! My teeth ached all evening. . Then off to buy some lunch items on the way to visit my mum. She didn’t want to go out anywhere because of Omicron hence the picnic style lunch. Then a drive back home, 200+ miles on one day.

Up early today, off to the beauticians for party nails, even though I’m going to no parties! This afternoon the oven cleaning man came. He’s a chap who loves his work and I love his work, too. The cooker is now immaculately gleaming and shiny.

Covid news from dd2. Her flat mate has Covid and with dd2 working in hospitals, I think the chances did her avoiding it are pretty low. I’ve no idea what will happen at Xmas. Flatmate will be able to go home to her parents by then and the thought of dd2 spending Christmas alone in her flat is heartbreaking.

Send anti-Covid vibes, please, as I will send to you all!

Oh that is such a shame Ena. Is the car sorted now or will it need to go for further repairs?

Today I have been out to the Post Office, all cards and gifts are now on their way and should arrive on Monday. I have an appointment at the blood clinic on Tuesday morning but apart from that I’m not intending to go out again before Christmas.

I like the poem MayBeMaw it is very topical, I'll copy it out and send it to my family they will think it was funny too.
Hot ribena is my favourite as well Grandmabatty. The day went all wrong yesterday when car broke down. It was only just fixed at the garage and the same thing happened again. I had to get in a high lorry cab while the car got towed behind us to Huddersfield miles from home. Getting in and out was a sight. We were sat in a tea shop all afternoon eating sandwiches and some very delicious cake and drinking pots and pots of tea. Luckily it wasnt that busy and the owner said it was alright to stay there. Everyone wore masks except when we were eating. The traffic on the road outside was non stop lorries, cars and buses I might as well have stayed at home for the same thing. It was dark by the time we got home and dh was in a mood from driving in the dark with car lights in his eyes. The cats missed us and Deidre stayed on my lap all night.
We have been watching telly all day with the cats curled up with us. I am staying in now until the holiday weeks are over cos its too busy out there with folk shopping for Christmas.
I hope my post isnt too long.

He's just gone into hiding as a small person was here - only one mind and a very small person at that but still... invading a cat's space is not to be tolerated ??. Apparently dear son has only mild Covid symptoms. Sigh of relief! Others haven't been as fortunate.

Sweetie Pie paid a visit yesterday. Came as far as the kitchen. Sat on "her mat" and ate a bowl of freshly cooked chicken. After which, she slept and then returned to dine on a full tin of prime cat food topped with a handful of cat treats provided by cat-loving pals. It's a hard life.

Maw Your poem couldn't be more appropriate for this particular festive season with all it's accompanying hopes and dreams.

Have just received a message from son in London..."we are all being annihilated by Covid here. Office wiped out". Oh dear!

It’s beautifully written and resonates with us all.

My “go-to” for presents for difficult-to-buy-for friends, especially at a distance is boxes of brownies usually around £17-20 for 12 pieces sometimes including delivery.
I feel we most of us have too much “stuff” but these can be shared round (or not, in my case!) enjoyed, then they’re gone.
I bought 4 boxes this year from a company called “Charming” - many others are of course available. They do gluten-free too if necessary.The brownies are freshly baked and have a “life” of about a week - except in this house ?- or can be frozen . I found them very nice people to deal with.

Had another thought for your difficult-to-buy-for friend, Soop. Something to eat? That's what my DH always says when asked if there's anything he wants for presents. He likes French food and I've bought him three tins of real French Cassoulet as one of his presents this year. (There's always a nice bottle of something if all else fails.)

An Ode to all in the Kitchen

Tis the week before Christmas
And throughout the land
Covid’s yet again threatening
To get out of hand
All over the country
Our plans are in doubt
Should we hunker down safely
Or, damn it, go out?
Our freezers are groaning
With food for the feast
If we’re here on our own
Until Easter at least
Should we go on as normal

Or go online at midnight
And book more LF tests?
