Oooh hope you have fun with the DGC over the next few days Urms
Are you taking L’il Miss out whist the Boy Wonder is out with his grandad? ?

singingnutty Wed 15-Dec-21 21:25:36

Urms I'm sure you will get to wear that lovely warm coat. Despite climate change we will still get 'cold snaps'.
I have spent quite a lot of time on the laptop today ordering presents. I justify buying things on line that I can't get locally. We live in a small town and anything vaguely out of the ordinary can't be bought here. I'm not one for shopping trips to big centres (e.g. Meadowhall) either. DS2 who has just moved now has a wood burner and they expressed a wish to have various accessories for it - so I have ordered a poker, tongs and a brush and dustpan. They were adamant they did not want a 'companion set'. Also nephews are coming to stay at the weekend and spoilsport Auntie does not allow them to play football in the (small) back garden. I have ordered a 'stomp rocket' similar to the one that kept DGS 3 & 4 busy in the garden during the summer. I just hope the rockets don't fly over the hedge into next door!

Busy, busy few days Urms cycling proficiency at its best. Pleased you’re feeling a bit better Ena ? for a run out tomorrow.

MayBeMaw Wed 15-Dec-21 21:37:37

soop

Dear Maw How are you feeling? Take things at a gentle pace and we all wish you a speedy recovery. x

TillyTrotter An armful of flowers and a warm (((hug)))

Thank you - I am a total fraud as I feel absolutely fine and will not be at all surprised if /when my PCR comes back negative.
If on the other hand it IS positive, then I have got off lightly.
But thank you for kind thoughts- although many are more deserving of them than I! Xx

Nannytopsy Wed 15-Dec-21 21:59:36

Hello everyone! We have finished this week’s child cover but there’s a bit more next week. I am finding time is running away with me! We went to buy a Christmas tree today but the local place has sold out. We search tomorrow!
Well, back to the cards - I am about to run out, so I won’t finish tonight.
Sleep tight ?

GrannySomerset Wed 15-Dec-21 23:15:59

My lovely DGD1, now home in Liverpool after three months in London, barmaiding in Soho and waitressing at posh large parties, is now isolating at home so that she can come here for Christmas. She is seeing her friends outdoors only for walks and is waiting for the test she took on Monday to come back. I am so grateful for such thoughtfulness at what is proving quite a difficult time.

Hope Urms gets to wear that beautiful coat before too long.

soop Thu 16-Dec-21 13:53:08

Urms Your Christmas coat is coveted by us lot. It looks so snuggly. Do you have a charming hat to complete your outfit?

I am on a desperate last minute search for a suitable humorous book for a friend's Christmas gift. It is a big ask. I shall persevere.

Back a little later. smile

Gagagran Thu 16-Dec-21 14:03:58

Happy Gagagran! I have been signed off from the leg injury nurse! My leg feels 10lb lighter without the five layers of dressing, strapping padding etc. I only need to go back to her if it "plays up" to quote her. All from an insect bite in summer and it's taken 5 months for the resulting ulcer to heal.

Another plus, DS has confirmed that so long as we all have a negative LFT on Saturday night or Sunday morning we can meet for our family lunch and present exchange on Sunday.

Today has been a good day as Captain Tom said it would be.

Soop have you considered a book of Pam Ayres' poetry for your friend?

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Dec-21 14:35:09

Brilliant news for you Gagagran ???

muse Thu 16-Dec-21 16:00:58

? Brilliant news Gagagran. It sounds like the compression bandage that MrM had to wear. It took just 2 weeks to cure the ulcers he had. They were as a result of horse fly bites from last year. Months of iodine treatment but it was the bandages that were successful. Do hope yours stay away. Have a lovely family lunch. ?for that test.

? Yia. Good to see your posts again. ?crossed for that family Christmas in Wales.

What a glorious sunny day we’ve had here today in muses bit of Cornwall. Lots of wood sawing done and hope for more tomorrow.
How was Holmfirth Ena? Hope you had some sun too for your run out. Almost picnic weather. ?.

Off out to catch the post. DGD1’s birthday on 21st. Almost a Capricorn like her Mamma (me?). I prefer mamma to gran ?

soop Thu 16-Dec-21 16:46:20

Gaga I too am delighted that at long last your leg is freed from the compression bandage. You will be relieved. Five months is such a long time to have suffered the consequences of an insect bite. Stay well and continue to heal. Wishing you a happy festive season.

Our male friend has a sense of humour that is on the naughty side. I love Pam Ayres. He, on the other hand, is, as I say a trifle non pc. Know what I mean? grin hmm

I seem to spend far too much time on the computer. 'The Repair Shop' is on tv. I shall join Mr Soop and enjoy some gentle entertainment with a refreshing brew.

Poorly peeps, stay warm and get well soon. Happy peeps, enjoy your various treats.

My love to you all. Thank you for keeping my spirits upbeat. Magic! smile moon

BladeAnnie Thu 16-Dec-21 17:19:34

Good afternoon dear kitcheners. Just quickly dropping in the kitchen to say hello from me and Duncan - and hope everyone is well TOYA

Charleygirl5 Thu 16-Dec-21 18:39:42

I do hope BladeAnnie you are giving serious thought to Duncan's Christmas meal. He still has not recovered from that horrendous trip to the vet so he needs to look forward to something extra tasty.

A friend of mine has an indoor cat, Jock. Because of illness, she has spent a lot of time at home. Yesterday she said to Jock she was popping out for a couple of hours. He jumped down ran to her and bit her arm, actually breaking the skin and she had a jumper and cardigan on. She even had to apply a dressing. He is usually so good-tempered but he does not like it when she is chatting on the phone. I hope the wound does not become infected.

TillyTrotter Thu 16-Dec-21 18:55:38

Gosh, cats can be domineering and manipulative when they are not being cute and lovable.
That sounds as if it could be nasty Charleyg.
Bad boy Jock!

TillyTrotter Thu 16-Dec-21 18:56:37

BladeA I’m sure the demure Duncan would not be guilty of such a misdemeanour. ?

silverlining48 Thu 16-Dec-21 19:40:03

Soop can I suggest the book ‘when i am old I shall wear purple’, it is very amusing especially for those of a certain age. Author recently died and have unfortunately forgotten her name. Clearly getting old myself. Google and you will find.

brook2704 Thu 16-Dec-21 20:23:57

Just popping into the kitchen to top up the drinks and hand round the festive canapés. Lots to choose from so help yourselves, my favourites are the Brie and cranberry twists followed by stollen bites - yummy.
Well I’m looking forward to going out tomorrow following my 10 days in isolation. First stop will be coffee and an almond croissant somewhere in town and then a browse around the shops - see what I’ve been missing. Hopefully will catch up with DGD too as I’ve missed her 7th birthday today. We had a lovely video chat though before she dashed off to rainbows.
Good news about your leg Gaga and hope all tests are clear for your get together on Sunday

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Dec-21 21:04:26

I hope you have a thoroughly lovely day brook x

Urmstongran Thu 16-Dec-21 21:06:07

‘Evening All’

A busy day minding grandchildren. Lunch out then took them to their swimming lessons. Gah! Those changing rooms it’s utter pandemonium. I don’t know how we do it on the money.

Decompression in the bar up the road on our way home. 2 x Rioja for me.

Anyway the bit that made me laugh at my stupidity.
My lovely new Ted Baker coat didn’t look ‘quite right’. I couldn’t feel right in it & couldn’t understand why. Himself (not to most discerning male at the best of times agreed). Quietly, in the bar, I ruminated. Had I bought a size too big?
I felt a bit low to be honest.
Too late now I thought, it’s bought and worn now.
I wasn’t truly happy but resigned myself to pretending ALL WAS FINE.
And secretly worried maybe I’d wasted all this money on it. (A lot for me). and of course it was now a present from Himself.

I came up from the bar. At home, I Put my beautiful coat on the bed ... feeling a bit dejected by my purchase.
Then realised my error.

Bluddy hell it was double-breasted and I hadn’t even noticed‼️

I’d been fastening what I thought was the only button in the wrong button-hole.
Fastening it properly (stupid me), cinched it in by 6” moving it further over and, as you can imagine, it looks RIGHT now and so much better a fit.
God I’m so dim!

In mitigation your Honour, I can only point out that the material is thick and obscured the extra buttons and buttonholes.

I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow now!
❤️❤️

MayBeMaw Thu 16-Dec-21 21:36:48

That was all a bit of a cliff hanger Urmstongran !
Glad all's well that ends well.??

brook2704 Thu 16-Dec-21 21:47:47

Phew that’s good news Urms I was almost offering to buy it from you until I got to the end!

Thank you Jax I’m sure I will ?

Urmstongran Thu 16-Dec-21 21:55:49

“It’s the way I tell ‘em” Maw ??

Blossoming Thu 16-Dec-21 22:50:57

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, I have finally finished wrapping and writing all the cards and gifts ready for posting. We will make it trip to the Post Office tomorrow morning, then it’s done! Much as I love all my family and friends I do find this tremendously difficult, my neck, shoulders, hand and eyes are worn out! I’m off to bed now, will catch up some time tomorrow. TOYA.

Blossoming Thu 16-Dec-21 22:52:44
