Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry and dark start here in Brackley , today were I live we are having a Xmas lunch in the lounge .
This week being the last full week , I will be doing my usual bus trips out, I have also plans to watch Steven Spielberg's version of West Side Story , having a sneak look at the trailer .
Take Care,
Mick
Of course, I meant the shortest day Purplepixie! ?
Good morning all from from a slightly brighter, milder Glasgow.
What a kind offer GrandM. If you ever had any entrepreneur ideas, bottling your energy would fly off the shelves.
Your reminder that it will soon be the longest day was a perfect pick me up Purplepixie
Pleased to hear you will have the opportunity of a face to face appointment with your GP Marydoll. Hope it proves beneficial for you. ?
Fingers firmly crossed your DD receives good news today Gingster ?
I have memories of watching the original West Side Story too. EV. My earworm is Maria as I can’t remember the title of my favourite song - One heart (?) and the tissues were needed.
Have a pleasant day all and stay safe.
I think you mean 60’s EllanVannin - (1961) I was thinking it could not have been over 60 years ago.
But time flies.
ES, I can empathise. Take it easy and look after yourself. ?
Good morning from grey Manchester. I had a very bad night with breathing difficulty so I've slept in this morning. I hope your doctors appointment goes well Marydoll. I have a revolving door to my surgery. They know all my needs so its always easy to get an appointment. I hope you are feeling brighter soon Flossiebo, its hard to lift out of a funk isnt it.
Your bags are lovely GrandMattie and your very generous to offer to make them for everyone. I like your photo Ashcombe its like a christmas card. The concert sounds nice Gagagran I love to listen to a choir and have lots of LPs of male voice choirs. I darent go to church any more or anywhere else mixing with people because if I get covid I will certainly die. Everyone seems keen on Westside Story, I've never watched it but I'll try and get a copy.
DH has to take our car to be fettled this afternoon its making a clangy noise so I will spend the time here tidying up the needles already falling off the tree.
Have a nice day
Ena
Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s cloudy and calm in my corner of Lancashire once again. It feels warmer, currently 8°C but no wind. Today I will finally write the Christmas cards! I didn’t manage to find the ones I bought and put away so carefully, but thanks to Mr. B I have a pack of cards supporting Dementia UK. The usual physio exercises and cycling (indoors) later.
Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ???
O
Good Morning All x.
Well Mick, you've started an earworm in myself----I'm humming "Tonight, tonight ". I saw the original film in the late 50's with the fabulous Rita Moreno and Russ Tamblyn. Fabulous, so enjoy it.
Anyway, it's a still, dry and mild day so I'll have a spurt of energy after instead of finding ways to keep warm.
I sat with my tea earlier on, in the quiet, listening to a little robin singing its heart out. It was wonderful and the best start to the day, really cheery and alive.
How lovely and exciting to hear of everyone's " doings ", that alone gives the urge to get cracking.
Gingster I hope it's good news for DD for today once the doctor has done his rounds.
Dear Marydoll hope today is alright for you too. All will be well.
Scentia's energy is off the scale
, good for you.
I'm really in the mood for a good bout of shopping and could well be naughty and skoot off. In all honesty, I need postage stamps so it means a bus-ride to the post office----it'll have to be done because D and family are in isolation for the next fortnight. I wear two masks so there shouldn't be any harm done, along with viral wipes in my pocket.
Love the card Urms, it made me smile. Ashcombe's tree was a lovely peaceful sight in the dawn light too.
Whatever I end up doing today, I must write a shopping list for my Asda delivery and make sure I get everything I need to save me going out as everyone will have the same idea next week
This is delayed because I've been chatting to a neighbour, who'd talk a glass eye to sleep bless her.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever you're all up to and stay safe xx
Good morning from outside the Health Centre where I’m waiting for the ear syringing nurse to do her magic, but I wanted to say to Scentia that her description of her two year old grandson joining in so determinedly, started my day with a happy smile!
Wishing a smile to everyone else today ???
Morning all its lovely to see lot's of you enjoying the lead up to Xmas ,I have a few bits to get but being carefull fingers crossed pre op covi d test prior to surgery negative hopefully if all goes well we shall be having family a few days after Xmas .?
I saw the original London production too and was blown away by the colour, music and energy and am looking forward to seeing the film with DD when she is here for Christmas - if indeed we are allowed visitors by then.
Grey day here and am off to see DH this morning and the optician this afternoon. Endless excitement!
Meant to say that we saw the original West Side Story in London, many years ago, and I still have the programme!
I do remember how loud I thought the opening music.
Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish but calm Carlisle. We had a very windy night last night.
I hope you enjoy that lunch Mick.
It's my usual laundry and housework day or rather morning because I generally refuse to do it in the afternoons. It's going to be a week of being a hermit, I don't want to find myself positive for the dreaded virus just before the holidays.
All I'm suffering from at the moment is a state of seething after the F1 result, must put it behind me!
I hope everyone has a good enough day at the least, especially those of you with troubles.
Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
My back is very painful this morning and I was having trouble getting going and walking. But, we do need to go out later on, so I am hoping that moving will sort it out.
Had a lovely unexpected visit from friends yesterday.
Urms, loved your picture.
Hope your Dr's visit goes well today Marydoll.
Have a good day one and all.
Good morning on this very wet and dark East Midlands. Not long now to the longest day and then light nights, yahoooooo!
Good Morning everyone, looks quite pleasant out , still mild for the time of year , I have to stick stamps on cards . I found a few books of Christmas stamps amongst my Christmas stash , so that a wee saving . DD was aghast that I was going to use up the first class ones , so they are in my stamp drawer where they should have been in the first place
Going grocery shopping as soon as I get a return call from the Surgery , the excitement of the week !
I hope you get some help from the GP Marydoll I would like to see mine face to face , but it’s just for a few niggles , some of which have resolved by themselves !
Please goodness we all have an uneventful Christmas and better days to come ?
Good morning Mick and all his followers. I hope you enjoy your film*Mick*. I have to admit that I haven’t seen the original West Side Story so I doubt if I’ll go to this one.
Suffolk is bright and still this morning after yet more overnight rain.
Nephew and family finished a Suffolk weekend by coming to lunch yesterday, the DGC and DS popped in to see them which was fun. We realised we are out of practice at entertaining unless it’s the close family, who help themselves!
WI committee lunch today at my favourite gastropub, and we all get on well so it will be a hoot. We have DGC for the next two nights, with school runs, so no more lie ins ?.
Love the bags GM and I hope your appointment was successful Marydoll.
Let’s hope that the day is kind to us all!
That’s so lovely from your DD AGA!
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and quite mild. Thank goodness the wind has dropped a bit from last night. I’ll have to pop out in the garden later to check it over
It’s lovely to read of everyone’s busy times and preparations for Christmas, lots of happy memories being made with friends and family
It’s a late posting from me, thankfully this covid hasn’t given me any worrying symptoms except I’m so sleepy! Nodding off in the evenings and today it was gone 8.30 when I eventually woke up - goodness me I’ve never done that before
Grandmabatty sounds like a lovely family day yesterday
Such a kind offer grandMattie and very much appreciated- thank you
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is kind and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Very late start for me here in North Wales.
Had the most lovely card from DD1saying her mum was the best present in the world. A few little tears were shed.
I don't see my children as much as I would like as they live at least 70 miles away.
DD2 wants me to move near to her and I am tempted.
Have a good day everyone
Thoughts with all who are not having a good time just now.
Good morning all from Polmont. 7°, grey skies and still breezy after a windy night. Lots of busy people here this morning! Grandmattie you are such a lovely lady and I wish I knew you in real life. The same goes for many who post here. Marydoll I hope the doctor's appointment goes well.
Yesterday I ended up at Tesco with dd and the boys. She wanted a hand as she's not sussed out how to manage a baby and toddler in a shopping buggy. It was just as well I went along as the little one decided he was hungry and set to wailing so she had to feed him. Dgs1 and I whirled round Tesco and I got all the stocking fillers sorted. I bought the Christmas ham too so it was a useful visit. They came back to my house as dgs1 wanted to see my tree and stayed an hour. It makes me happy to spend time with my family.
Today I need to stir my stumps and buy a frame for a painting I did. I'm giving it to a friend for Christmas. Apart from that, I'll post cards and do some wrapping. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a dry, mild NE.
Spent the whole day tidying the study cupboards yesterday. I found lots of unusual things but very happy to find boxes with writing on telling me they were spare parts for kitchen appliances and so on.
DD and SIL returned in time for dinner and we had duck confit well SIL and I did DD had a vegetarian dish.
DD already working in my music room, she takes after her father, he used to work 12hour + days too. She assures me she will be on holiday from Friday which I am pleased about as work only sanctioned two days bereavement leave, we managed to arrange the funeral on a Belgian public holiday.
Look after yourselves.
Good morning Mick, good morning all. A bit grey but dry and quiet here in Anglesey.
We had a lovely day yesterday, little tots party and then card delivery resulting in some pleasant doorstep chats and ended with dinner with a recently widowed friend and one of those gentle trips down memory lane.
Today I intend to have a good walk and then tackle some outstanding paperwork with my newly cleared head.
Wishing you all the best of days ???
Good morning everyone from what feels a milder start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Must go already here’s my carer.
No, Marydoll, no sales. I only make the bags for friends and family. Besides I don't need the money and prefer to give them away (not rich BTW, just comfortable)
I genuinely mean my offer - pile in, it might take some time, but I'll get there in the end.
Good morning all from dark but mild Harrogate
After discovering I have a heart condition a few weeks ago, I decided to see a cardiologist privately so that’s what I am doing today. My NHS appointment is February which is a long time wondering if I should be panicking or not
. Yesterday in church Masks stayed on whether singing or not. It was the Christmas Nativity played out by the children. Some of it was done digitally on a screen.
While I would love one of your bags, I have to be realistic - I have a cupboard full of them.
Today we are having a little birthday party for DD2
Have the best day possible folks
