Good Morning Monday 13th December 2021
(54 Posts)Good morning Michael!
My plan is to give DDog a nice walk, clean my car inside and out because I am picking up my new(er) car on Wednesday and hope DH finishes emptying the crap out of the attic so I can start cleaning the mess he’s made up!
Enjoy your Christmas lunch!
Good morning from a dark, grey E Kent.
Christmas lunch in the lounge sounds love, *Mick” as does viewing “West Side Story”, my DH’s absolutely favourite film of all time.
The church service yesterday was weird, masks on/off; everyone wore one but not everyone took them off to sing.
I had a busy day - I always wash the bathroom on Sunday ps as I have time to do it and have a shower at the same time. When I got back from church, I made the pastry for mince pies which I made later.
I finished the two little totes “ordered” by DGD1, and fell apart after a dinner of roast chicken.
Like most of you, probably, I was very puzzled and confused by BoJo’s pronouncements last night.?
I hope to have a quieter day, but am not holding my breath as I’m trying to have everything sorted by the time DS1 returns, apart from packing.
I hope today brings joy to everyone, and relief to those dear friends who need it. Carpe diem ??????
Morning.
Spielberg West Side Story looks wonderful Mick. He was a huge fan of the original, so I am sure he will have done it justice.
Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes yesterday. I am still in a funk today - it's a family related issue getting me down - but I'll get there?
Take care everyone.
Good morning , early birds, from a mild Torbay.
The photo is of the sunset from my window on Saturday, looking Wintry with the stark silhouette of the tree, which has a beauty of its own, I think.
Enjoy your Christmas lunch, Mick! A new car sounds exciting, BlueBalou; what make is it? grandMattie, you sound as busy as ever! Take care of yourself, please.
Today is the last session of my Move It or Lose It class so I expect we’ll exercise to some party songs. We reconvene in mid January.
To all with pain or worries, especially Flossiebo, I wish you relief and hope. ?????
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark but again feels mild for the time of year.
Off to work shortly for the morning then this afternoon I will be delivering and I will stop off to see DGC who will be at their other grandparents house.
We had an amazing time at the Santa experience last night and even though I didn’t come away with a medal from the ‘snowlympics’ I came away with a full heart after watching my DGS who is only 2 put himself forward for everything and joined in like a 6 year old, he was amazing and it was so lovely to watch him having such a great time❤️
Take care everyone and stay safe.
Morning all! It's 16 degrees here on the south coast this morning! Most unseasonal but welcome to those of us who do not like being cold.
My old choir put on a wonderful concert yesterday afternoon. It was for family and friends and the first one they have done since the first lock down. It was a big change to be in the audience rather than singing with them but I did sing behind my mask! Felt joyous and uplifting and so good to catch up with everyone at the interval. I do miss being in the choir but can't commit right now.
A quiet day on the schedule here but something usually turns up so we'll see.
Lovely photo Ash and I bet you are on count down now for the return of your DH?
Mattie you are counting down too, I know, for the return of DS. Hope it all goes to plan. I have awful tote-envy for your beautiful bags!
Have the best day you can everyone. Sending
for us all.
Good morning all . I have table tennis this morning and this evening my bridge club Christmas meal in a local hotel. Should be good. Must get my cards finished too. Take care all
Good morning from NE Hants. Yes it's weirdly mild here also. Must get the last Christmas parcels that need posting, wrapped and posted to-day. Have a swim booked for 10am, it's the Ladies only class which is a relief after the one I went to last night where children of about 10 were being very disruptive (the session is for just Lane Swimming) and the Life Guards were ignoring them. Such a shame as the Sunday night session used to be very peaceful and a stress relief not a stress inducer. Later in the afternoon I'm having my hair done, roots need touching up at the very least. Bit nervous after whatever it was BoJo was telling us yesterday
that Hairdressers etc. may be closed so I'm getting it done while I can. The mentions of West Side Story have made me want to see it. I know OH won't want to go so I'll see if a daughter (or 2) may want to join me. Enjoy your day whatever is happening Gransnetters.
Good morning all from 11deg in S Hants. Sounds like fun Mick enjoy your lunch. I can feel your excitement mounting gMattie?.
Normal cleaning day today, local cards to be delivered and a couple of phone calls to make.
Enjoy your day. Thoughts with those struggling ??
My dear virtual friends - I would gladly make you all a tote as a thank you for your continuing kindness, love and support in this most difficult year. All you need to do is pm me with the design you want and your address… ❤️ (Not just yet, please ?. After the New Year)
Morning all
Dark and mild here in S E Essex.
Off to the gym, then to a local(ish) retail park for a click and collect order of Christmas bedding for the GC’s room here.
Enjoy the film Mick it looks good.
Keep safe and well folks ???
Oh Grandmattie you’ve gone and done it now?. I will be on that list come 2022❤️
Good morning all from the Black country, its double figures here 10 degrees.
Didn't listen to Boris so have yet to see what delights he has come up with.
Nothing much planned today but I'm sure to find something to keep me quiet.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.
Dark still here in south London but does not appear to be too chilly out. The cat has popped through his cat flap-always a good sign! We are off to Lidl later with our voucher from a newspaper giving us £10 off a £40 shop. We shall stock up with Christmas goodies I think. A walk later to keep the joins oiled and working and then sorting through cupboards the rest of the day. Hope everyone has a good day and ? to those who are suffering in some way. I don’t know all the names and back stories on here so can’t address people individually being a relative newcomer to this long standing chat.
Good morning all and it’s mild here in Essex.
I still have little GD here as mum is still in hospital. I haven’t heard from her yet to hear if she can come home today!
Off for the school run at 8.30 and then up to town to get Xmas bags and a few more gifts. I wrapped more yesterday and realised I have more gifts for some than others. I’m in a right pickle this year ?. Next year it will be one gift for all.
This afternoon we have our Xmas Chiming gathering at teachers house. There are only 6 of us but we’ll have a jolly time. DGD has a craft class after school (at school), so I won’t have to pick her up until 4.30. Of course if Dd comes home, things might change. Just have to play everything by ear. ?
More lovely tote bags GM . All so individual!
Wishing you all a peaceful day ?
Good morning all from a slightly milder and calmer Glasgow. ts 7°C. I'm glad to hear the wind has died down. DH and my neighbours were out at midnight, chasing overturned bins and their contents down the hill, I was out at 1am picking up other folk's items, which were blowing against DH's car. DH, of course, probably couldn't hear the constant banging over his snoring! ????
One of our neighbours appears to have a serious Irn Bru addiction, better that, than gin bottles everywhere! ?
GM, have you thought of selling your items on Etsy? You are a very talented lady and I'm sure you would get plenty of buyers.
I'm off to my emergency doctor's appointment today, armed with graphs of peak flows and oxygen levels. I am such a geek, doing it this way, but it always makes my GP smile.
However, it does give a visual picture of what is happening.
I haven't seen a GP face to face for two years, in those days I used to have appointments every other week. Oh well, it will be a day out, if nothing else! I hope the GP has plenty of time! ?
Sad person that I am, it was a challenge for me to make the graphs , as I had totally forgotten how to do it, but I was quite determined to manage it! It was a matter of pride, since I used to deliver in-service on this for the LA. In addition to getting the brain cells working, it enforced me to sit down and rest for a change!
DH has kindly cancelled his golf, to take me. I have insisted that he goes out and plays, but he has insisted he is coming with me! I feel quite guilty about him missing his golf, but secretly relieved that I don't have to drive!
He isn't such a bad soul after all.
It is so heartwarming to hear of your families enjoying themselves in the run up to Christmas. I was just saying to DH, that I get such pleasure from reading about of all your activities, and seeing your photos, even although I am, once again, confined to barracks!
An added pleasure has been seeing our EV posting again.
DH has just reminded me that this is freedom day for our Covid warriors, thank goodness that the boosters have helped to stave off a more serious attack!
There are so many of our virtual friends on here, with a mountain of pain and sorrow to climb. Sending you warm and healing hugs. ?
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.
Good morning from East Yorkshire where it is dark but quite mild at 8 degrees.
Another one here who is looking forward to seeing West Side Story.
Yesterday we did our usual Sunday cleaning and then went to my favourite place for coffee. Last year due to not a lot going on we did a taste test of which of our favourite coffee shops did the best HM mince pies. Sad as I am a made a note in my diary and this was the one. It’s called Sails cafe as it is by a mill. It didn’t disappoint and I also bought a few home.
In the afternoon we had a very festive time when we went with the family for GS to meet Santa. He was a very good Santa and spent a good while chatting to GS. GD slept obliviously through it.
I haven’t any plans today. I may go into the city centre. There is the annual shoppers Carol service in the Minster at lunchtime so I’d like to go to that. It’s near the indoor market where there is a local chocolatier and chance to get a few presents so I could get that out of the way at the same time.
Take care everyone.
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. It’s still dark outside but Alexa tells me it’s five degrees so at least it’s not frosty.
Enjoy your lunch Mick and West Side Story too. One of my all time favourite musicals, DD and I are desperate to see it but she’s not keen on going to the cinema just yet so I’ll have to be patient.
Oh Mattie that’s such a kind offer, as if you’re not busy enough!
Scentia isn’t it joyous to watch our little ones throw themselves into activities?
A neighbour was chatting to DH yesterday and has invited himself in for coffee this morning, I fear we may be in for a marathon session. Often he starts to talk and forgets to stop.
I’m doing a training session in a different branch of our charity shop this afternoon, should be interesting. May go over to see DD and her gang before going home.
Hope everyone has a peaceful day and comes across a ?or two.
Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry corner of Somerset
Huge smiles here yesterday, the family made it. Not many of us but so hard to be all in one place at the same time. The food disappeared, our Littlest loved being with his older cousins as the teenagers joined in with his games. Simple but magic for us.
Today we’ve decided on an outing to Wells. Will enjoy the Bishop's Palace decorations, spend time in the Cathedral and wander the little shops all after a breakfast in a garden centre. Tomorrow we’ll be shattered!
Have you kept doing count how many totes you’ve made grandmattie? What a kind offer, you’re a star. You’ll be in my thoughts flossiebo, hope there is something to lift your spirits today. I’d also like to see that film mick, sounds a good day ahead for you. It’s good to read about people enjoying themselves, a lot of positives along with the worries.
Take care everyone. Hope Monday is kind to us all.
Good morning from another mild day in Northampton, 11°C. Didn't listen to Boris either so will see what the newspaper says.
Yoga this morning, the last one before Christmas; hope our teacher finds some gentle Christmas music to play quietly in the background as she usually does.
Then home to a day of tidying up after putting the rest of the decorations up yesterday. I used to really go to town on the house when DH was here, but I really don't have the heart these days, so I just concentrate on the living room. But there's a mini-tree in the front porch with fairy lights and the candle bridge in a front window as well.
I have already booked for two friends and myself to see West Side Story in January, Mick. And then last night DD-in-law texted to ask if I wanted to go along with her, DD and the DGDs to see it this week, so of course I said yes! It's had 5*** reviews.
Take care and stay safe everyone.
Good morning from a very mild Colchester. Grey and damp feeling though.
DH has decamped into DS room because of my snoring and is now making the whole house reverberate!
We need a supermarket shop, so may buy Christmas supplies too and DH is out this evening. But otherwise we'll be "retired" from home as asked.
Love to all ? x
Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is damp but mild.
Monday is my housework day plus I have a pile of ironing that needs doing.
Early evening we are going to see step granddaughter in a swimming gala at a local pool. She is a member of the swimming club there.
Love the totes GM, beautifully made ?.
Enjoy Monday whatever you are doing xx
If it’s of any help to anyone, Odeons are doing West Side Story at £6 per ticket on their saved menu. We shall book for tomorrow.
