The 70's. How many of these do you remember

I counted at least 15 items/ activities that were around in the 50s. So basically it’s rubbish.

There's no claim they only existed in the 70s, so don't see why you dismiss it as "rubbish".
I remember potato puffs from the 1960s, don't remember them in the 70s but l changed school so probably the new school didn't sell them.
Curlywhirly (sp?) have definitely been subject to shrinkflation.

I do remember I wore the sandals in the 60s my mum used to whiten them with a chalky liquid. I left school in 72 to work in a shoe shop then a furriers. I seemed to go from one job to the other until hairdressing apprenticeship.

The fashions went from one extreme to the other mini skirts and hot pants to maxi dresses. The music was very mixed I like T Rex Rod Stewart and the music of Tamla Motown.

and earlier. I was born in 1943. I was a young mother in the 1970s and remember qute a number of these from my own childhood - especially the Clark's sandals. I had a pair of those as indoor shoes when I started school in 1948.

All of them. Happy times.

I was born in the late 40s I loved playing scrabble in my teens and I still play it on my iPad with various friends world wide It’s really great fun, I also do a 99 piece jigsaw every night on my iPad, at least these jigsaws don’t need a table or floor space and the pieces click into place.

Clark’s sandals for the summer ( May1st - October 1st) were mandatory at my grammar school in the 50s..
I remember having wooden soled clogs in the 70s

Yes I was a kid in the 50s and can remember quite a few of these. Love the sandals!

I had all my children in the 70 s so it is a bit of a blur. Also ,we emigrated early in the 70s. My last baby was 1979, my first 1971. I also fostered 2 babies so it was nappies, milk, nappies, milk. Made lots of new friends in a similar situation.

Do any of you have a favorite memory of a historical event or famous person from the 1970's that you can share ??

I was 8 yrs old in Houston Texas in 1972.. My father had a good friend who worked at NASA, Johnson Space Center and my brother dad and I got a VIP tour of the NASA facility..
We got to see and touch a real space suit and tour mission control underneath the complex...
At the end of the tour we even got to meet and shake hands with a real Astronaut.. I remember the Astronaut asked me if I wanted to go to the moon when I grew up.. and I said no...I want to be a fireman... they all laughed and he said that's fine..you be what ever you want to be young man !!
I didn't find out until years later that it was Buzz Aldrin that I met and talked too...

Do any of you who grew up as a kid or young teenager in the 1970's remember when the disco silk dress shirts were popular along with the stacked shoes. ??
Did any of you play with the Evil Kneivel doll and motorcycle set..??

NOTAGRANYET Except for the bullying your views of the 70’s and beyond sound similar to my own. I really just wanted to write and say I hope you’re doing ok. I lost both my parents three years ago to cancer and it was an absolutely awful and exhausting time. Take care and I hope you and your mum are able to spend her remaining time together peacefully.

Loved the nostalgia of this, but I agree that many of them are from the 1950s and 60s which is when I grew up.

It's funny seeing this today because my lovely mum who is nearing the end of her life (82), thanks to the breast cancer that is eating away her brain, today handed me a handful of my old reports from secondary school all 1970s.
None of them very academic due to the horrific bullying I suffered through out my time there.
Strange that school wrote me off aged 14 as being a bit thick and yet now I have lots of letters after my name.
I loved some aspects of the 1970s, my Saturday job, my grandparents, the music and my lack of responsibility but on the whole I preferred my 40s and 50s (the last 2 decades) to being in my teens in the 70s

I loved the Quink ink too, as well as the black, blue and blue/black you could occasionally get it in a bright turquoise colour which we weren’t supposed to use in our school books. I still love writing with a fountain or cartridge pen.

I also liked the smell of the Banda printed sheets in school, the print was light purple and the pages smelt of methylated spirit.

I bought them secondhand so I'm pleased to hear I'll get a good few years out of them, still.
I admired a pair on a woman I met put and about.
She told me she had climbed a mountain and done tha Inca trail in hers!
Mine have the crepe souls, too.

Misadventure I chuckled at your comment about wearing the exact same ones. We had a pair that five of us failed to wear out. My two cousins had them first then they were handed down to me then my younger db last of all my ds. They were crepe soles and the toughest of leather. They were originally white but my df dyed them black as they were showing signs of wear and tear. We still remember those sandals today and have many a giggle even though we hated them with a vengeance. They certainly made things to last in those days.

Quick ink, I used to love it. I loved the smell of it and filling up my fountain pen. Handwriting was one of my favourite lessons in school.

In the same vein my mum confessed that she'd always called a snooty consultant at work a "dickhead" without realising what it meant! Me and my 2 teen boys wet ourselves when she told us, very ashamed and embarrassed!???

I didn't have the Clarks sandals in the 70s as I was a bit old, BUT I donate some very similar adult ones that they sold about 5 years ago!

I remember them all. I was so jealous of the girls at school who had the clarks sandals, and that was in the 50s and 60s.
