By definition, all grandmothers are also mothers. I regularly contribute to Mumsnet but to be honest, there is so much aggression on there, I an very hesitant to post anything there now.

Urmstongran Fri 17-Dec-21 21:28:15

Nope.

Galaxy Fri 17-Dec-21 21:28:47

Yes I dont find it aggressive to be honest but I dont go on AIBU. I have learnt a lot from MN.

Elizabeth27 Fri 17-Dec-21 21:31:05

I had a look a while ago but it seemed too fast for me to follow.

Betterlatethannever Fri 17-Dec-21 21:32:19

im on both,i find the AIBU on there more interesting lol

GagaJo Fri 17-Dec-21 21:35:39

Yes. But I'm trying to stay away. It's addictive.

I do love the cutthroat attitudes on there though. But it IS horrifically transphobic so I stay away from the feminism forums to avoid getting dragged in.

Curlywhirly Fri 17-Dec-21 21:38:52

I look in occasionally and contribute very rarely; I find it aggressive and am surprised at how rude the contributors are to each other. I'm also not keen on the amount of foul language used.

BlueSky Fri 17-Dec-21 21:45:58

Read but don’t post, too young for me on there!

Grandmadinosaur Fri 17-Dec-21 21:51:51

No

Beswitched Fri 17-Dec-21 21:58:49

I read but don't post anymore and deregistered a couple of years ago. There are too many rude, aggressive posters who think nothing of hurling personal comments and catty remarks at anyone they don't agree with. Shocking to think that many of them are mothers.

GrandmaKT Fri 17-Dec-21 22:04:37

I'm on, but very much as a lurker rather than a poster. It irks me how they use IABU for everything! e.g. "AIBU to wonder if my boyfriend's ex-partner still fancies him?" or "AIBU to ask if you would rather have a curry or a roast dinner?" etc etc ad nauseum!

GillT57 Fri 17-Dec-21 22:21:49

I read, and I post very occasionally. Sometimes very blunt, but also refreshingly not hypocritical and not po faced. Fair bit of swearing though.

JillyJosie2 Fri 17-Dec-21 22:26:48

I look occasionally, I think I posted once long ago! I find it quite refreshing and interesting to see what a different world most of them are living in. They are quite feisty and sometimes very direct and rude but to some extent, it feels like honesty.

rafichagran Fri 17-Dec-21 22:30:52

I am on both, I like both in different ways.

Helen657 Fri 17-Dec-21 22:39:32

I drop in to mumsnet occasionally, but have never posted. Gransnet feels a lot friendlier and more relevant to me! (Even though I’m not yet a Gran - sorry!!!)

BlueBelle Fri 17-Dec-21 22:46:13

Never tried Mumsnet don’t think I ll bother

Mollygo Fri 17-Dec-21 22:54:05

I lurk, it’s interesting to see how the younger element are more direct in what they think about things, but I agree about the weirdness of some of the AIBU questions.

CanadianGran Fri 17-Dec-21 23:03:47

I do lurk there for interest, but rarely post. I must say, some of their conversations are quite lively, sometimes mean, but definitely always something entertaining.

Because I post on off-hours, I see a lot of game playing here, and most conversations in UK are finished for the day.

Witzend Fri 17-Dec-21 23:10:14

Yes, it’s a lot more interesting than GN!

Maggiemaybe Fri 17-Dec-21 23:11:21

Yes I am, but I don’t post much on there. By the time I’m ready to add my words of wisdom, the discussion has usually moved on. smile MN has some really interesting threads though and very funny and quick-witted posters. In my experience it’s not as insular as Gransnet and there’s more tolerance of other posters’ views. With such a huge membership, there’s less likelihood of discussions turning into spats and comments becoming personal.

Luckygirl3 Fri 17-Dec-21 23:20:10

I am - I think there are more trolls and and spoof posts on there than on Gransnet.

I do often feel very sad at the behaviour that someone posters seem to think is acceptable from their partners - it is almost as if they will do anything to have a man, even if it makes them unhappy.

Audi10 Fri 17-Dec-21 23:27:44

Yes I’m on Mumsnet, I really like how honest it is

Luckygirl3 Fri 17-Dec-21 23:40:15

And the effects of porn use on relationships is also very clear on Mumsnet - and really rather sad.

But there are some highly educated and very knowledgeable and interesting women on there.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Dec-21 23:47:01

Yes. I like the feminist boards very much and can't understand why GNHQ have still not provided one here, despite their promises. I've learnt a great deal from MN; as a previous poster said upthread, there are a lot of very intelligent and well informed posters there.

Cherrytree59 Sat 18-Dec-21 00:19:06

Yes
Actually found gransnet first before mumsnet.
I have found the SEN boards very helpful.
The feminism board make interesting reading.

I discovered the Christmas threads last year and have followed again this year.
I have managed to purchase quite a selection of lovely gifts some at bargain prices.
Ideas for presents that I would not have actually thought of myself.

I think there is a lot more humour on mumsnet.
But having said that I only lurk on mumsnet.
