Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and maybe foggy outside here in brackley this morning.
Today, I plan to catch a bus to Banbury to get the new Bond film DVD which is released today.
Otherwise a day of laundry etc for me.
Take Care,
Mick

My son is 30. A small celebration of four. We have bought him a tree to plant.

Flossiebo Mon 20-Dec-21 06:04:02

Good Morning all from a wet and miserable Teesside.

Busy day today, hope all is well with everyone.

Take care ?

Ashcombe Mon 20-Dec-21 06:17:12

Good morning, everyone from a chilly but dry Torbay. A biting wind from the East has kept the temperature down all weekend.

This should have been our day for travelling to stay with my DD2 but we can’t go as DH, olddudders, still awaits his PCR test result. It’s some comfort to know that results are all taking a long time to come through currently, including the NHS ones. If we receive it later this week, we will travel up on Christmas Day and hope the traffic will be lighter. At least DH and I are together!

The photo is of one of my favourite Christmas cards. Some of you will know why it was a clever choice on the part of the sender and it’s not that the beverage mentioned is a favourite tipple, although I’m not adverse to a Tio Pepe!

Wishing you all happiness as we prepare for this special time. ??????

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 06:18:36

Good morning from E Kent. One more night until the solstice.
Hopes dashed last night. No PCR results, no journey to Bristol - yet. We have set a deadline of 12 for leaving here. Neither of my chaps especially wants to drive at night. ????that they’ll arrive by then and, more importantly, are negative.
Had a lot of pain from my heel and was a bit soggy most of the day.
Made some of DS1{s favourite food for dinner - a gammon joint, baked potato and cauliflower cheese.
Carpe diem and catch some metaphorical ☀️Ditto ???????

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 06:20:51

How long has oldD been waiting for his results, Ash? Hope it’s not too long as it’ll scraper all our plans.
Love the card! ?

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 06:21:04

Scarper ?

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 06:31:33

What am I talking about? Scupper !

Scentia Mon 20-Dec-21 06:33:11

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a little breezy.
Nice card Ash I get it!!
Off to work shortly for probably the last time this year, I have worked hard to get everything done so I can try to relax and it has worked.
We went to see DS and DDiL yesterday, we took the grandchildren and had such a lovely time. DGS who can only say a few words was clearly singing jingle bells in the car all the way home, he was so happy. It is so lovely to see the two of them with their niece and nephew.❤️
I do hope all the tests waited for come back negative and you can get to your families.
Oh what will be happening this Christmas with talk of more restrictions, I fear for our economy and mental health. Still, ‘que ce ra ce ra’ I wonder if I’ve spelt that correctly ?
Take care everyone and stay safe and warm.

Ashcombe Mon 20-Dec-21 06:34:30

I’m sorry to hear you have the same problem, grandMattie, with your son's PCR result. I posted DH’s in a priority box on Thursday morning.

He took a supervised lateral flow test at a pharmacy two days before leaving France which was negative. If he picked up the virus whilst travelling on Wednesday, it probably wouldn’t show up on the test taken on Thursday morning!

In my view, the private testing companies are profiteering. But we are stuck with these rules. I do hope you can fulfil your travel plans today. ???

kittylester Mon 20-Dec-21 06:43:45

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

Up early again for the tiler who is due at 7.45!! I intend to finish the wrapping today.

Hoping PCR test results arrive soon and everyone has the best day possible.

Gagagran Mon 20-Dec-21 06:45:35

Good Morning everyone from a dark and chill (6deg.) south coast. Sorry to hear plans are still on hold Mattie. I suspect they will have been inundated with CPR tests, given the numbers.

We managed our family lunch yesterday after all 6 tested negative, with LFTs in the morning. It was joyous to see DS, DdiLand their girls and risk a hug. Our beautiful DGDs (19 and 16) were on good form and chatting about their lives. Love to hear what they have been up to! The food and service was excellent and it was good to have a bit of normality in all the omicron doom and gloom.

Our other DGD who lives 1 mile away from us, came home from university in London on Friday and had a positive CPR test on Saturday so plans for our Boxing Day visit to them are on hold as she has to isolate. I am just glad we managed our meet-up yesterday for some family time! Carpe diem indeed.

Laundry and pottering today and the solstice tomorrow then light starts to come back, thank goodness. Not a fan of the darkness.

Have the best day you can everyone sunshine

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 06:59:34

Thank you for all your good wishes. The silly thing is that, like Ash’s DH, my DS had to take a PCR test within 48 hours of flying. Like him , he was negative and should he eventually test positive, he would have caught it on the flight…
Yet another thing to worry about and let people down. ?

baubles Mon 20-Dec-21 06:59:38

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. The ground looks damp but could very well be icy, I was caught out by that yesterday morning!

No teas after Mass yesterday and until further notice which is a shame.

We had a lovely afternoon with DD and crew yesterday even if the weekend plans end up going awry I’m happy to have had the time with them. I’m going over there this morning to have a wrap-a-thon with DD so that she’s not up doing it at all hours on Christmas Eve.

I do hope everyone awaiting the outcome of PCRs gets negative results very soon.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ??

Beechnut Mon 20-Dec-21 07:00:17

Good Morning everyone from a dark Severnside. I can see it’s damp.
Good card Ash.
I need to get my prescription before Christmas but I will leave it until tomorrow when I have to be up early anyway. So a day of more tidying and thinking what I may need for my Christmas food if things change about getting together. Beechnutella brought me a Christmas pudding from her work hamper. I got into trouble with her? grand dog was excited when he arrived. He eventually settled down and I brought out a squeaky Santa that my parents had bought for Beechnutella when she was a toddler. He loved it? Yesterday day morning we took him to the arboretum for a walk and he had a play with some more dogs.

I hope the results will soon be here for those waiting and they are in favour.
Have a good day all ??

Urmstongran Mon 20-Dec-21 07:08:10

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark. It’s dry though but looks chilly out. Brr!

We are off out in half an hour to mind the two grandchildren for the day. Mum won’t be home until after 5pm so we will be waiting by the front door by that time I expect!
?

The train to Liverpool Lime Street has just pulled into the station opposite. Always makes me think of amselerin and her little dog Waldi. I hope you’re well if you’re reading this dear lady. Happy Christmas wishes to you and your family. I trust your house move went well.

Enjoy Monday all who can. Here’s Matt.

Urmstongran Mon 20-Dec-21 07:12:53

None on Mondays! Here is Blower’s take on events instead.

Jaxjacky Mon 20-Dec-21 07:19:01

Good morning all, dark and dry in S Hants. Fingers crossed all PCR’s are returned swiftly and negative.
The majority of our wrapping was done yesterday, MrJ wrapped, I labelled and decorated.
He’s off to work in a minute, I need to go to the library today, do some tidying, clean bathrooms and wash floors, joy!

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 07:49:34

Good morning Mick all from Glasgow, where its 4°degrees.
A special Good Morning to Rosalyn, I haven't noticed you posting on this thread previously.

GM, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, when DH and I did an NHS, PCR last week, mine came back in two days, after being posted in a priority post box, DH's took three days and DIL's two days, after being done at a testing centre. I hope the results come back in time for you to fulfil your plans.

I have nothing to report today. I'm staying put until Wednesday, just to ensure I am Covid free for my MRI on Wednesday and because this new varient apparently attacks bronchial tissue, I am being very careful, due to my extreme vulnerability in that area. #resigned gran#

Baubles, that's a shame about the teas, it's a lovely social occasion, but a sensible decision. Numbers are soaring here, consequently I won't be able to go to Mass on Christmas Day! ?
I cannot understand, why in the light of the present situation,
the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is being reinstated in January.

I hope to finish present wrapping today. My fear is they are looking a tad boring, compared to my usual efforts. That's mainly due to the fact that I have been grounded for most of the last twenty months! My finely honed, bargain hunting skills have deteriorated so badly! ?

Dollie almost missed the birthday party with her three best friends yesterday, because she has to isolate. sad . Her friend's
parents put it on Zoom, to ensure she wasn't left out.
The marvels of modern technology!

A special shout out for Auntieflo, who wasn't feeling too good yesterday and for all those struggling, especially the daughters and DILs on here, who aren't too well at the moment.

Finally, a last push for Soop's crowd funding for an urgent op, to give her some improved quality of life , rather than have to wait years for surgery on the NHS.
My heart was breaking for her, when she phoned me from the hospital, after speaking to the surgeon about the results of the exploratory op, to tell me the ( in her eyes), unattainable cost of £25,000.

Here is the link, no matter how small, every £1 helps, if you wish to help. There is an option to donate anonymously if you wish, which many have done. It is under the name, Annie Carter.

gofund.me/47835e2f

Wishing you all the best day possible.

NannyJan53 Mon 20-Dec-21 07:54:08

Good morning from a dark and misty Black Country.

Had a lovely lunch out with DD yesterday. Just the two of us as a treat for her birthday. I made her DH and the girls a Lasagne for their lunch whilst we were out. Cannot remember the last time we had time together on our own.

I am supposed to be going on the train to Worcester today with my u3a Canal group. Think I will give it a miss. The walk along the canal would be fine, but not sure about the train journey. Such as shame, as I was looking forward to it.
My walking group had a Christmas buffet meet up Friday. I decided to avoid that also, and when I saw the photo's on our WhatsApp group of them all seated together, I think I made the right decision.

I hope the PCR results arrive today, and they are negative. I know so many people now who have had Covid, that I fear it is only a matter of time for most of us. Despite being so careful.

Wishing you all a happy and safe day

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 20-Dec-21 08:05:54
