Good morning everyone, I haven’t caught up with all your posts yet but somehow managed to miss my usual Sunday one.
It’s cloudy here in the Algarve with rain forecast for at least the next ten days. Like Cornwall we catch all the Atlantic breezes though, so it might change. hmm

Nannagarra Mon 20-Dec-21 09:50:24

Good morning from Sefton.
? for those awaiting PCR tests. Sad to learn some have +ve results, including Dollie; I wish you minimal symptoms and speedy recoveries.
? harrigran ?
Gardening and window cleaning for me today.
Take care and keep smiling (it always fools people).

Morning all from a dull and damp West Oxfordshire. I may traipse round my village today delivering local Christmas cards. The Girl Guides used to do this for a small fee. They didn’t last year and I don’t think they are this year. I will make a batch of lemon ice cream - my son’s favourite as he doesn’t eat Christmas pudding. OH wants me to cancel our cleaning ladies just to be on the safe side in the expectation that Christmas festivities won’t be cancelled again! Mmm.

Good morning from a grey, damp Durham. The washing machine repair man cometh later - between 2 and 5pm.
Before that I have a couple of things to pick up from an Argos a bit further away than my usual branch. Then a good dust and polish and I might put up a tree in my lounge. Gone are the days of one in every ground floor room!
So much talk of PCRs and LFTs but we’ve to accept ‘it is what it is’. Make the best of what you can is my new motto.

GG13 I cannot believe The Imp is almost 2y old! ?

Auntieflo Mon 20-Dec-21 10:16:51

Morning Mick, Annie and all.
Our two boys are visiting today, and bringing a Take-Away lunch, instead of going to a restaurant. I am looking forward to seeing them, but not sure about eating. These chemo tablets play havoc with your taste buds and what you can and can't eat, or fancy. Still, we shall see.
It would have been my brother's birthday today, so I will ring my lovely sister-in-law later, and have a chat. Sending {{{hugs}}} to Harrigran on this day.
Like Marydoll, the presents this year are wrapped, but not as I would really like then to have been, and such a lot has had to be done on line, rather than the hunt for things in actual shops.
We did go to Church yesterday morning, and I am so glad we did, as we shall not be going on Christmas morning. I took a blanket, in case we needed it for our knees, but it was fine.
Unfortunately, one of our dear friends, is back in hospital, after her hip repair failed, due to her weak bones. Our congregation is depleted, but there was a lovely Nativity playlet, that we all enjoyed.
Happy Birthday to all those celebrating today.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning from a very damp and grey East Midlands. Not doing much today. The last of the cards posted and a hat to knit.

brook2704 Mon 20-Dec-21 10:26:46

Sorry to hear about Dollie marydoll I hope she’s not too poorly with it and she recovers very quickly
Fingers crossed that birthday parties can go ahead GG13 grandmadinosaur and Sar. My DGD had hers cancelled over the weekend but she’s been promised it at a later date so she’s feeling ok about it now - your heart just goes out to the little ones when they’re upset ?

Grammaretto Mon 20-Dec-21 10:27:55

Good morning all from the beautiful city of Edinburgh. I am meeting a friend at an art gallery where hopefully we will be well away from the crowds.
Sorry for all awaiting tests or missing their parties Dollie .
Sending best wishes to auntieflo to hulahoop to Harrigran and all who could do with a bear hug today

Blossoming Mon 20-Dec-21 10:33:22

Good luck Mick and everyone from cold, grey Lancashire where it is currently 4°C. Today is my last DPP Zoom meeting of 2021 as we break for Christmas, back again on 10th January.. wishing everyone a Happy Monday. ??

Blossoming Mon 20-Dec-21 10:36:17

That should have read Good Morning! Though I hope you all have good luck too smile

TopsyIrene06 Mon 20-Dec-21 10:47:01

Harrigran - A hard day for you but comforting memories. Kind thoughts.

EkwaNimitee Mon 20-Dec-21 10:49:48

Good Morning Mick and everyone from grey damp Carlisle. I preferred it when it was cold frosty and sunny.
Busy today with final packing jobs, sorting out leaving the house jobs and worrying about whether I've forgotten something vital. The suitcase is looking full and there is still stuff to go in. I am NOT going to get my very big suitcase out!
My very best wishes for Dollie, Marydoll.
A good day to all I hope.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 20-Dec-21 10:51:45

Thank you Brook and Sar . Yes it’s difficult with the little ones. I think it’s especially upsetting for my gs as he’s been to 2 of his classmates parties in the last few weeks and now it’s his turn it can’t go ahead. Heartbreaking for them.

luluaugust Mon 20-Dec-21 10:56:55

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent. Will make sure I have a walk today. Good wishes to all and hope the tests go the right way.

NannyJan53 Mon 20-Dec-21 11:00:15

Marydoll so sorry to hear about dollie. I hope she is only mildly affected and will be back to her normal self soon.

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 11:12:42

Thank you all for your kind wishes for Dollie.
Mum is very capable, has upped her inhalers, is monitoring her peak flow and has a rescue pack for her, if necessary.
I also have a rescue pack and extra inhalers, so fingers crossed, it will be OK.
Perversely, Dollie is quite happy, she no longer has to stay in a room by herself!!

I would rather be ill myself, than see her unwell. However, I need to give my self a shake and get on with things. Others have much worse going on in their families.

I am going to try the slow cooker function on my new Ninja. Thank goodness I am IT savvy, it has so many options and my brain fog is hampering the reading of the instructions!! That should keep me out of mischief for a while. wink

dragonfly46 Mon 20-Dec-21 11:19:28

Good morning just popped in the add my best wishes to Dotty.
A tip Marydoll make sure the Ninja is heated up first before you use the slow cooker as it is not its best function. If you just start with slow cook it will take forever. I usually sear things first to heat the element then lower the heat.

Thinking of Harrigran and Auntiflo also.

I don't post often as I lead such a dull life at the moment but I have fingers crossed that my DD and SiL can come up on Wednesday!

Sending best wishes to all and hoping those test results come in quickly.

EnaSharples Mon 20-Dec-21 11:24:03

Good morning from Manchester. We were supposed to go out for me to try on a car like Cinderella with a shoe but I had a bad night and then I fell over in the shower this morning even with all those grab rails I fell off the plastic chair. I am all right but have some big red marks. I hope children with the covid will be all right and the adults waiting for results will get them soon and they will be negative.
The kids loved the pullovers but dd s cardigan didnt fit. Shes going to give it to her friend. I told her I cant make another one because my hands are very swollen now so I will give her money instead.
Bye for now
Ena

hollysteers Mon 20-Dec-21 11:29:06

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Did a big online shop for the first time since lockdown as it seems my entertainments for sheltered accommodation etc are going ahead leading into Christmas, which is surprising really but it will give me more time for other Christmas preparations.
I now have a date In January for my brother in law’s funeral in the south, but no date for the burial here in the family grave. I’m thinking my husband’s ashes from five years ago could also be buried there.
Thoughts to harrigran and anyone with troubles, will read through later.

grandMattie Mon 20-Dec-21 11:29:51

Oh, Marydoll, I’m so, so sorry! I shall pray that Dollie is spared everything bar a cold… ?❤️

Grandmabatty Mon 20-Dec-21 11:33:27

I'm just back from Stirling to see that Dolly has the virus. Marydoll I'm really sorry for her and you as I know I worry about my two children and two grandsons and your love for her shines through. Harrigran? for you.
No curry this visit Marydoll. But more presents got. I picked up two bottles of the Clementine gin from M&S. However I was three minutes too early to buy it because of the ten o'clock alcohol rule. Fortunately the lovely checkout girl warned me so I kept letting folk in front of me. We then did a countdown in the queue as others had booze too and cheered at ten. Folk must have thought we were mad or alcoholics! I'm having a cuppa before I start a wrapping marathon. Take care all.

EllanVannin Mon 20-Dec-21 11:44:23

Oh goodness me, just seen the news about Dollie. I sincerely hope that she is alright. I know that she'll be well cared for in every way and I can only wish her a speedy recovery. Sending my love and best wishes to her. xx

GrannyGravy13 Mon 20-Dec-21 11:52:12

Hi Marydoll I do hope Dollie only has a mild case of Covid, hopefully despite her asthma she will be ok.
