Good Morning Tuesday 21st December 2021
(77 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley .
Today sees maybe one of last bus trips this side of xmas to Bicester.
I have partly packed my suitcase , ready to go to IOW as well , yesterday got the new bond DVD plus got the soundtrack of Steven Spielberg's west side story .
Take Care,
Mick
mrshat, you are a wise woman!
Marydoll and Stillearning Just to say the obligation to attend Mass in person was reintroduced for the first Sunday in Advent down here on the Herts/Bucks border. However, I, in my wisdom, decided to do what I felt best for me (and others in the family) and still 'attend' on line. I do think that 'He' above is perfectly happy with that arrangement

It's usually "somebody" to blame here too and that person doesn't live here!!
Pitt, it's the fact that they have different voices, that's what is confusing me.
I suspect, who know who is to blame , he was footering about, trying to set up the outdoor Christmas lights on the App.
Of course as usual,he denies everything!
I've just had a chance to sit down to read all the posts and wonder if Marydoll has found the setting on the Alexa app that lets you change the voice. I have turned mine to brief so that she doesn't say OK after everything!
Good morning all, been clearing out the two freezers, a job I hate, this morning, then a call from Mr B would I like to join him for coffee. It was a yes as I have received news from the NHS as having been identified as a person who would benefit from some medical treatment if I got covid, think it might be that pill reduces the severity of the illness. Anyway I felt a lot happier about going out for a coffee after my hard work.
Sorry to hear you have tooth ache Urms, in my humble opinion there is nothing worse, even child birth. Soops news is great and it’s lovely to hear that people are so generous to another in their time of need. Well I am going to get on with wrapping the last few presents and then get on with reading my book.
Urms much as I love my dgs1, looking after him I always use units of time to help things move along. Thank you to Nannagarra and Lauranorderr for your kind words. My moods are up and down like a fiddler's elbow! Some wrapping and delivery done already and after lunch more wrapping til it's time for my booster.
Ultimately excellent news Litterpicker. Long may it continue.
Good morning/day from a dry but grey West Sussex coast.
Mick I hope it stays calm for your sailing to IoW.
Delighted to hear that Soop’s target has been reached.
Congratulations to those with birthdays and anniversary.
Thoughts with those grieving or with health issues.
Still haven’t finished my cards or shopping. I did manage to tidy and clean downstairs yesterday. I dusted everywhere. It was bad. While hunkered down dusting lower shelf of bookcase in hall, I toppled backwards into hall table and in trying to right myself caught my back on the jutting out table top. Everything on the table fell off or over. I thought I had finally scuppered my dodgy lower back as I let myself fall gently sideways on to the floor. I found myself quite unscathed and today my back is better than it’s been for weeks!
Did someone post about a spectacular dessert in the Co op? I now can’t find the post, sadly, but would be glad of a reminder.
I knew you’d be there EV while I was laboriously tapping away on my tiny phone. Enjoy M&S, after two years you’ll be like a child in a sweet shop. Looking forward to hearing about all your purchases tomorrow.
I would be in that cellar either Hollysteers after reading ghost stories. I’m easily spooked.
Good warning about scams Gwen. We do need to be reminded to be vigilant at all times.
??? four more sleeps
Late good morning, twas ever thus, from a rather dull and grey Anglesey.
Inside though is full of cheer with the tree up and the mantelpiece full of sparkle and two hopeful stockings hung.
Very happy 53rd wedding anniversary Mr and Mrs Dragonfly, a winter wedding, how lovely.
Very happy birthday BlueBalou and a happy 13th to young master hulahoop wishing both lashings of gooey cake.
Wonderful news for Soop, her gentle kindness over the years has come back to her in spades. Karma at its best. I love your witticism Grammaretto, sooper news indeed.
I am so sorry that some of you are feeling low. grandMattie a good cry is a great release, it’s our inbuilt safety valve, good to let go sometimes.
Flossiebo I’m sorry you can’t shift your gig and hope your swim helps although I have to say rather you than me.
Hope your glumness shifts Grandmabatty.
What a horrible shock for you Harrigran. Are you in touch with his family? Sadly you’ll know from experience how be a comfort to them at such a sad time.
Sorry to hear your news Gingster, back to the stove for you then. Hope your daughter-in-law is soon better and that all covid warriors big and small recover soon.
Sorry to hear about your fall Ena and hope your finger isn’t broken. A splint might help while you wait to see the doctor.
Hope you and Mr Pant are soon cough free and able to enjoy a good Spanish Christmas Pant.
Last but not least hope the toothache pair Jax and Urms are soon sorted. Is your appointment at 2.30 Urms?
Orlin once claimed that toothache was worse than childbirth!
Hope everyone finds a random ?or two.
Longer hours of daylight starting tomorrow. Back to better days. ?
Morning everyone, haven’t posted lately but read your posts everyday. Some good news and some sad news on here today, and I don’t have anything on today, but what made me chuckle was Marydolls Cliff Richard comment about Alexa, I cant stop smiling. Have a good day everyone, and if I don’t post again this week a Happy Christmas to you all.
Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
I am reading Edith Wharton’s ghost stories and it stopped me going into the basement underworld to bring out my tree last night (any excuse).
Spoke to my DS after a longish for us spell and he said he had had Covid but he was out having a meal and said it hadn’t been too bad. The Xmas concert at local sheltered accommodation last night went well, another tonight and tomorrow.
FaceTimed my daughter in Hyderabad this morning (cabin crew). Strange to see the view in hot weather when I had just been out to my boiler as it’s the third time the pressure has dropped turning off the heating.
? to dragonfly, grandMattie, Bluebalou and will enjoy reading through later.
Ha ha you are right there gillgran!
Good Morning from a dry overcast Cambs.,
Gwenisgreat, our DIL had a similar scam text a couple of weeks ago, it started, " Hi Mum, dropped my phone in toilet, this is my new number, lost my bank card, text me back, off to work now, will pick up your message later".
Our DIL was worried, as their 19 y. DD is at Lancaster University, (more than 200 miles away), & didn't have any other number to call, (the only clue was that she doesn't have a job!) & DGD's own phone was going to answer phone.
DIL had a frantic family call around, eventually DGD called her back, all fine!!
Congratulations, dragonfly on your Anniversary, (1968 was a good year for weddings, (as was 1946 for births
)!!)

Happy Birthday BlueBaloo.

Warm wishes to you all, especially those with added problems.
Good Morning All x
Still that dullness in the heavens and so wish for a bright crispy day. It just brightens the day that much more when it's light.
It's taken me all of an hour to read the posts, but pleased many are up-beat which is a good sign.
Many good wishes to the Dragonflies on their Anniversary and also best wishes to a Birthday among the throng.
Well I was sorely tempted yesterday and am going to bite the bullet ! A neighbour had said she was off to M&S tomorrow, did I want to go with her ? So---for the first time in two years, I am ! The thought of extra goodies and treats for the family was too good to turn down. I'll be masked up ( wear two ) and gloves left on, except at checkout and I'll be as happy as Larry.
I'd mentioned on another thread yesterday that I'd received a letter from the NHS to have a second vaccination, at any place including the surgery. It won't be an AZ one like the first it said. Anyway, I'll wait until after Christmas in case there's a reaction whichever it is. I'm more happy about this because I feel that I'll be having it at the right time, including a couple of months after the 'flu jab. Spaced out is the way to go.
Stepdaughter rang last night with her usual lengthy call keeping me up to date with all the goings-on. We always have a good laugh as well. She's 72 hahahaha---more like a sister really. I'm close to all her family which is nice and we're all waiting for a huge get-together with the many off-springs.
I'll be glad when it's next year then I won't be doing things in fits and starts as I'd much rather get stuck in to cleaning etc and seeing some headway with the tidying up. Still, it can't be helped this time of year.
D hadn't managed to call yesterday so it could be anytime whenever she's got 5 minutes. Her visits are never hard and fast arrangements I just take pot-luck as it's difficult with children I know. I do know her washing machine is never off.
Must shake a leg in any case and at least clear a coffee table, just in case. Why is it that whenever there's a space I have to fill it {grin]. Food cupboards the same ! Must be a thing about empty spaces/ places that I have an aversion to.
Anyway, enjoy your day whatever you do and stay safe and well xx Thoughts to all.
Good morning from cold Manchester. The heating hasnt come on and dh is tinkering with the boiler typical being a holiday coming up.
Happy birthday and anniversary to the ones celebrating. Its lovely that the total for soop reached the top.
My shoulder and leg are different blue colours today and I think Ive broken the little finger in my fall I cant even wiggle it, The doctor is seeing me at 11.30 so I will ask him then. Thank you to the kind ones who sent pms about my fall I will answer everybody later on.
Have a nice day
Ena
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow. It’s a dreich day outside but lots of twinkling fairy lights certainly add a bit of cheer around.
I am so sorry you had such a rotten day GrandM. You have possibly released some pent up emotions until you had DS1 home safely with you as he shared the sadness of losing his brother. I hope today is kinder to you. ❤️
So nice to have you back Dragonfly. Happy Anniversary to you both. Enjoy your day
Many Happy returns of the day Balou?.
We had a quick trip up to the But n Ben in Perthshire yesterday for a general check over and bring various bits and pieces home which are still in bags in the hall, too tired to do any more, today will be a sorting out and storing affair.
Huge smile on my face knowing Soop’s target has been met. ?
Hope everyone has a pleasant day and stays safe.
Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is mild and dry. I’m late to the party as I stayed up to watch Soop’s total reached. Granpower!
Congratulations are in order for BlueBalou and hulahoopDGS on their birthdays and for dragonfly on her 53rd wedding anniversary. Enjoy your celebrations everyone. ?
That’s sad news for you harrigran. ?
I’m sorry to learn of people who have C19; may they have short-lived, mild symptoms. I’m keeping my ? that those waiting for PCR results find they’re negative.
Just think, from today we will have more daylight hours. Hopefully that will cheer you Mattie and Grandmabatty.
My last online purchase is due today. Hurrah! I can now click buttons super speedily! (Don’t we all have to do our bit to keep the economy going?)
Today I’ll dream of tostadas and churros thanks to Pants, follow Blue’s lead of ready meals and send you all a smile and the possible sighting of a flamingo.
???
Good news - I have secured an urgent dental appointment for 4pm today.
We’ve been at the grandchildren’s house for 2 hours already. I’ve made porridge, coloured two Christmas pictures with L’il Miss and now all 4 of us are sat on the sofas with our iPads. Units of time.
L’il Miss said “guess what grandma .. (love that children say that, it could be anything - we won the lottery, I’ve learned to speak French) .. this morning in the shower when mama was getting ready for work she told me it’s her last day of work and she said ‘whoop whoop’!”.
She’s not the only one I thought. I’m turning into the Grinch. It must be the toothache.
Happy anniversary the dragonflies many congratulations! And many happy returns of the day to you Balou.
Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Marvellous news that the fund raising for Soop has reached and exceeded the total needed.
Marydoll, I asked Alexa if she was still female, and she said that as she? is AI, she has no gender!
Happy Anniversary Mr&MrsDragonfly. Have a lovely day.
Not much planned for today, but will pop into town this morning.
Have a good day one and all.
Good morning all. Grey skies in Polmont and a chilly 1°.
Happy birthday Bluebalou and happy anniversary to the Dragonflies. Such good news for Soop. Flossiebo I'm a bit glum at the moment. I'm not showing it to family and friends but everything seems an effort and I would much rather have a quiet time. I'll keep faking it til it's real though.
Yesterday was busy. I went to Stirling to see ds and picked up Christmas presents. Then dd messaged me in the afternoon to ask if I wanted a coffee. I was round like a shot! Dgs1 had had a bad bump and there was a massive egg on his head. He was correspondingly emotional and got upset and wanted to come to grandma's house so I took him for a couple of hours. We had cuddles and played and watched baby shark which was new to me. He cried again when I was taking him home. He's normally a sunny wee boy so I think he was tired and had a sore head.
Today I'm off to Tesco for some vouchers and booze presents. Then the delivery of gifts to some later. I have my booster this afternoon too. Have a good day all.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
