Oh well done, BlueSky

Could only book my last delivery before Christmas for today, but everything there at my usual time slot, so well pleased to be able to avoid crowded supermarkets.

Just had a brilliant delivery from Sainsburys. I ordered six fresh figs. As substitute I got kiwi fruit !
But six bags = 36 fruit. Something didn’t translate well somewhere

The kiwis went back.

36 kiwis!

My first time for a Christmas delivery. It's the same day as yours Lizzie72. Sainsbury's 10.00 - 11.00

If there is anything really essential missing, I shall call somewhere on my return home from an MRI scan at the hospital in the afternoon. It's a 20mile journey and I pass quite a few supermarkets. Might even pop into Waitrose for something nice for Christmas Eve. It is just the two of us for Christmas through to past the New Year.

Good luck for Thursday ??

Thanks, muse, mine is from Sainsbury’s too. I have a consultant telephone appointment on Friday first thing, so I wouldn’t be able to go out to the shops early then. I’m sure it will be fine. Good luck to you too!

It is not unusual to get substitutes if and at no extra cost to the customer the shop does not have the exact items you have ordered.I have NEVER been disappointed with subs, which can be sent back by customer , in fact I have been pleasantly surprised at the generosity of the retailer in question.

Download the Snappy shopper App. Basically you get the order in an hour or so. It's the co-op and here there's a choice of 3 shops. It's great for a top up etc. I have a Christmas eve delivery that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for and a veg delivery for tomorrow. As long as I get one I can get by!

Ooh, sounds hopeful! Thanks for replies.

The collection of items is mostly done at night when stocks are high so hopefully, you will be ok. I have never had anything missing in the years that I had a Christmas shopping delivery.

Even though I was able to book a priority slot I only managed to get a Monday slot ( yesterday) but everything arrived with no short dates or substitution. So was well pleased. I do have a small pre-order to collect on Friday morning from a different store. So hopefully you are as lucky.

Sadly that’s always the danger with a late Christmas delivery, but at least you have Friday to dash out.
No help to you now but I usually just get perishables during Christmas week, everything else I get the week before, I had my delivery yesterday, I use Morrisons and there were no shortages or substitutions.
So just salad stuff and cream to buy on Thursday.
I’m sure you will be fine though.

As a lockdown convert to grocery deliveries, I have been really pleased with this service. I was pleased too, to secure a delivery for Thursday, 23rd. But am I likely to be left high and dry on Thursday, with many items unavailable? In previous years have others had a last minute delivery? I guess I could get stuff on Friday, if available, but I was obviously hoping to avoid actual shopping.
