Kalu you’re joining Jax and myself with an urgent dental appointment and antibiotics by the sounds of it. I hope you get sorted. It’s very stressful needing a dentist before they close tomorrow till next Wednesday!

No EV yet? Our Crumpet Queen was off to M&S yesterday wasn’t she for the first time in 2 years?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 23-Dec-21 11:51:03

Marydoll you are an inspiration ????

I often feel maudlin at this time of year, remembering Christmases past, with my grandparents and parents and then moving onto when our five were young and believed in Santa.

I have to give my head a good wobble and smile about the good times and be grateful I have those memories and rejoice when I witness our children making memories for their children. ????????

Good morning Mick and I join the others in thanking you for starting this thread each day.
Hello to Anniebach, who, bless her heart, never fails to wish me Good Morning.
To GrandMattie, hugs and commiserations. I hope your day gets better, and thank you for your support.
Marydoll, for her Novellas, PM's and kind words when I am down.
To all the lovely grans who have had such trials and tribulations over the last months. They have all come through, and had their GN friends behind them, urging them on.
I have so enjoyed reading all the posts, and thank you all.
We are now waiting on DS1 arriving. His brother DS2, is unwell and full of snot, as he so kindly put it.
Apologies if I have forgotten to thank anyone who has helped me through this past year, but I have appreciated all posts. There are many and I treasure them.
Have a good day one and all.

Kalu, I did think of phoning you, but it was very early!
The Victoria is the one hospital, I have never visited!
I hope you get to see the dentist, perhaps antibiotics are needed and glad to hear your DH is slightly better.
Some of us certainly are in a sorry state today.

I'm feeling a bit maudlin today after a chat with DH. I always do at this time of the year.
Forty four years today, newly married, I was released after six weeks incarceration in HDU in the old Western Infirmary. I only got out, because I wouldn't stop crying about not being able to spend my first Christmas with MrMDoll.
He was reminiscing about real the six foot Christmas tree, lying, undecorated in the lounge, the hole in the wall, where he had tried to put up a wall unit, which promptly fell down, taking half the wall with it and a very messy and untidy flat.
He hadn't expected me to get home and was panicking! ?

My mother and MR D were told to expect the worst. I went into hospital, a timid wee thing and came out a very changed person, having resolved to seize every opportunity life presented to me and face head on all the disasters and challenges. (and there have been many)
Carpe Diem. you don't know what you've got until it's gone!

Here ends my sermon for today.?

Kalu Thu 23-Dec-21 11:24:49

I forgot to put your name NanKate ??‍♀️ Still hoping your DS recovers soon ?

hollysteers Thu 23-Dec-21 11:23:45

Bon Voyage Mick and hope you have a good time, wrap up!
Lots to do here now my Xmas concerts have finished. DD arriving tomorrow, last minute gifts to buy, sort the house out and finally face getting the tree out of the basement. Good job I believe in the twelve days of Xmas and don’t pull everything down on Boxing Day like my cousin.
Had a dash round after singing to some neighbours and friends with cards and gifts yesterday in the horrible rain and cold.
Everyone seems fed up with the covid situation.
A singer friend posted that she felt she should change the words to God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen to ‘Gentlefolk’ to keep up with the times..,
Another card wot I drew.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 23-Dec-21 11:22:24

Good morning everyone where it is a dreich, grey day in Glasgow again!

DH is showing signs of improvement this morning since he went down with a lurgy a few days ago. I woke with a very sore mouth thinking I had toothache, turns out it’s a gum abscess!
A swollen gum means my temporary plate doesn’t sit comfortably at all and I can’t wear it! Not a pretty site.
To say I am feeling down in the mouth is very apt. ?

GrandM ((((((hugs))))). I hope today brings you good news.
Congratulations and best wishes to your DD and her lovely new husband kitty ??
Enjoy your holiday Mick
Hoping your DS recovers soon. ?

Marydoll I didn’t realise you didn’t know the car parks at the Victoria or I would have told you how to access them as I attend clinics there and had a couple of MRI’s also.

No idea what the day holds, I only hope it doesn’t involve a trip to the dentist, if they are even open! Buggeration this should happen two days before Christmas!

Have a pleasant day all if you can and wishing a better day to those feeling down.

Urmstongran Thu 23-Dec-21 11:20:27

A later good morning everyone from me in south Manchester. I slept in as I’d had a couple of rubbish nights. I seem to have developed anosmia again with this stinking cold. So no alcohol over Christmas and now it seems I shall just feast my EYES on a Christmas dinner. Hey ho, worse things happen at sea. That said, I’m going to do a LFT later obviously hoping it’s -ve but the anosmia is a red flag.

When you post late there’s so many posts to read. I’d like to comment but it would seem something of a roll call now and I’d hate to leave anyone out. Honestly so many of us are spinning plates and juggling events right now. Christmas is busy and stressful enough without missing PCR tests, cars breaking down, hospital procedures and low mood for some.

However I do just have to say what delightful news that your daughter gets married today kitty I wish the happy couple a long and happy marriage. And Sar53 I can feel your joy from here! Wonderful news indeed for your daughter. I bet you are all on Cloud 9 today.

Here’s Matt. x

GrannyGravy13 Thu 23-Dec-21 11:11:50

EnaSharples go ahead and moan, this thread is like one big virtual family, there are (((hugs))) aplenty.

I think we have all had days/weeks when feeling down that we have been supported by the Goodmorningers

Nannagarra Thu 23-Dec-21 10:59:32

Every one has “off” times Ena. The grey skies and cold weather in December don’t help. Keep with us, read rather than post if it suits you.
Write your moan then delete it. When you feel like it, tell us about the weather where you are and a little about your activities.
It’s good to talk.

LauraNorderr Thu 23-Dec-21 10:57:52

Another late good morning from Anglesey
First and foremost to Mick have a safe journey and a truly wonderful Christmas. You deserve it after keeping us all going every morning especially during these last difficult twenty odd months. Thank you.
I’m sorry you’re feeling so low Ena, as others have said, it takes a while to feel as though we’re part of things, please persevere while we get to know you.
Oh grandMattie my fingers and toes are crossed that you receive a clear PCR test for your son in the next hour.
Great news for your daughter Sar.
Congratulations and very best wishes to your daughter Kitty, hope you all have a fabulous day?
????? to all

notgran Thu 23-Dec-21 10:48:11

Good morning, from a grey Hampshire. I had a really good start getting lots a crockery and cutlery in the dishwasher ready for Christmas Lunch, cleaned and sorted the cutlery drawer, then got out special tablecloths to put around the house. And then I stopped for a coffee and have been on social media since grin There is an article in Daily Mail is your Christmas Classy or Tacky. It lists what makes it so and I score very highly on Tacky. So proud to be labelled that by the Daily Mail grin grin

Scentia Thu 23-Dec-21 10:35:17

Yes Ena what about a good moaning thread each morning. I am sure you will have plenty of posters!!

Lins1066 Thu 23-Dec-21 10:34:45

Many thanks dragonfly

cornergran Thu 23-Dec-21 10:32:39

Ena seconding marydoll's post, please don't give up on us, come and say hello, tell us what the weather is doing in your part of the world and there is no need to say anything else. GN is always here and has been a huge support for me in the past. I've met some lovely people remotely and also face to face, give it time, please.

NannyJan53 Thu 23-Dec-21 10:29:31

Lovely to see you posting NanKate, so sorry that Covid has ruined your Christmas plans. I hope that your DS will only have mild symptoms x

Ena flowers

Marydoll Thu 23-Dec-21 10:11:21

Ena, I come on here to offload and find some human interaction, as I rarely see anyone at all these days and to give my husband break from having to listen to me wittering on.

No-one judges on here, they don't always offer sympathy, nor acknowledge everyone's posts, that's normal on a forum like this. It doesn't mean that they don't care or aren't interested.

Why don't you just come in most days, say Hello and let people get to know you, that will help you ease in, until you feel more comfortable. You don't need to have fun things to say.

Please don't give up on GN. It has been a lifeline for me, especially during sheilding and some of my virtual GN friends have propped me up in my darkest moments.
However, it just didn't happen overnight. You have to make the effort to get to know people and them you.

I do hope you can find some way to lift your spirits, you sound very low. ?

Jaxjacky Thu 23-Dec-21 10:02:20

Oh Ena we all have really down days and we share them along with the better ones.?
How lovely Ekwa lots of catching up and fun.

Grammaretto Thu 23-Dec-21 09:54:53

Or Ena you could start a new moan thread?
You have to laugh or you'd crygrin

dragonfly46 Thu 23-Dec-21 09:51:56

Ena if it helps we are happy to listen to moans as well as happy stories flowers

EnaSharples Thu 23-Dec-21 09:48:05

Good morning from wet Manchester. I am feeling very down in the dumps and turning in to a right moaning minnie so I'm not going to come on here anymore. Dh told me to come on it to talk to other folks but I dont think I fit in. I have been ill for years and years but lately I have gone downhill faster than I thought so I'm fed up. I wanted to come and have a laugh but I cant find anything fun to say.
Ena

kittylester Thu 23-Dec-21 09:37:38

Thank you for the kid wishes for DD3! She says that her husband to be loved her back to life. I think it's a lyric from a sog but it will do for me!!!

EkwaNimitee Thu 23-Dec-21 09:36:22

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey damp Surrey.
Happy travels Mick!
I came here on Tuesday. There were 3 first class carriages practically empty and mine only a third occupied at best, and, judging by the cool air wafting by my ankles, well ventilated. Presumably a lot of folk just aren’t risking it.

DS1 managed to locate me at Euston, not easily as I’d forgotten to turn mobile data on on the phone and our messages weren’t reaching each other. I wasn’t being allowed to use the local trains so I was collected by car. An amazingly long drive for the relatively short distance down into Surrey. From Carlisle, I can get so much further!

DS2 arrived yesterday and we were all out for a restaurant meal last night. It does not seem like 2 years has passed since we were all together.
Happy holidays everyone and fingers crossed for you grandMattie.

Grammaretto Thu 23-Dec-21 09:12:51

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders,
It's such thick mist fog I could be in Marydoll's hospital cupboard aka changing room. Well done MD 5*** stars!

Poor grandMattie I am thinking of you.

Thanks to Mick for all your early morning posts. Hope you have a restful holiday.

I am awaiting a LFT before my morning on duty at the community shop. I am sure it will be negative but I had a headache in the night.

Have a great day everyone. Hope the wedding is wonderful Kitty
