Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet here in brackley this morning.
Xmas on the IOW in Shanklin , arrived on Thursday afternoon via Lymington /Yarmouth crossing , got to hotel , and settled in , on Xmas Eve a morning trip to the Busy Bee Garden centre, followed by lunch ,and in the afternoon a trip to a busy Newport , Xmas Day apart from the usual meals and a xmas gift , Boxing Day an afternoon trip t Osborne House , before returning home yesterday which thanks to heavy traffic and accidents on A34 and M40 causing more delays it took 5 hours to get from Portsmouth to Brackley including 45 minutes at Chiveley .
Overall it was good , we 11 meals between Xmas Eve and Boxing 3 meals each day , plus the coach firm who organised the break , gave everyone a Xmas box when getting on the coach.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and welcome back, sounds like a busy, enjoyable trip. Mornings all from drizzly South Lanarkshire.

6th day of isolation for us but so far I’ve avoided infection, thank goodness

I spent a little while at my piano yesterday, I’ve been promising myself I’d get back to practicing and it did feel good.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day, safe journeys to the travellers, and special thoughts to those below par for whatever reason. ??

Good morning from a very wet Anglesey. Welcome home Mick.
Plans to meet on the beach this evening for a bbq around the fire may have to be shelved.
Have a good day all, keep looking out for that random pink flamingo ?

Good morning from another damp, dank day in Durham.
Really no plans much - sort of enjoying a week off before January, as I’ve quite a busy month in store - nothing exciting, but all necessary.
Have a good day.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 28-Dec-21 09:14:41

Thank you Daisytwoshoes I love Beverley too. I have a couple of friends live there and is it wasn’t for family I’d move there too.
Being originally from the East Midlands I love living where we do so close to the coast.
So sorry to hear your sad news Ginny ?

Good morning from DD's here in East Northants, where we have torrential rain; she has just braved the weather to take the dogs out for a very quick walk to do the necessary!

A.quiet day yesterday, just the two of us, as DS and family went home in the morning. Had leftovers for lunch, watched tv and finished my Agatha Christie book (Hercule Poirot's Christmas). Watched our rugby match early evening (not the result we wanted), then DD made a delicious turkey and ham risotto.

Heading back home late morning after bacon butties; will drop my stuff off at home, then back out again to see DGD in her panto this afternoon.

Glad you had a good break over Christmas, Mick. Have never been to the Isle of Wight, and am mulling over a trip there in spring.

Safe travels to those with journeys to make. And good shopping to those braving the sales!

Good Morning All x.
Gosh, these past few mornings have been dark because of the dull damp weather. It should be " bright and crisp and even " grin---and getting milder we see, strange.

Did my washing yesterday as I'd kept throwing things in the machine, so it went on the maiden. Bedding next.

D rang to say that she was not happy calling in on account of bringing any germs with her. She wasn't able to get any testing kits as she'd been testing in the past before she came to see me, so I do feel out in the cold now.
I always have windows open and the bedroom one is open all night. The back kitchen one is open as I write/ type----I can feel the draught round my ankles grin

Nothing pressing on the agenda today. I was going to dart around to the corner shop for milk but I think I'll last until tomorrow, always a tin of evap just in case as I don't mind it in coffee.

Some turkey to chop up for the cats as I won't eat any more of it now, maybe the ham out of the freezer for New Year for a change. Far too much stuff----again. I'll have to set myself a resolution " I must not buy enough food to feed an army ". Thanks mum ! grin

Good to hear that Mick had a pleasant break, always good to get back on home ground though.

Thoughts to anyone not feeling too clever and hope things improve for you. Rest up Marydoll as I know that the least bit of excitement can take it out of you. I've seen cases of RA in the past. Not nice.

Hope everyone has a decent day, stay safe and take care xx

Oh grandmadinosaur I love Beverley ,haven't been for a few years tho as I don’t live in that part the the country now .although I was born and lived in your part of the world until I married and moved away.

Happy childhood memories of Bridlington ,Scarborough and all of the east coast and East Yorkshire

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 28-Dec-21 08:56:22

Ginny so sorry it was such a horrible day yesterday ?

aggie Tue 28-Dec-21 08:55:58

Good Morning from a still and dry Co Armagh, it’s milder than usual ,
Mick your break sounds just the best !
I got a run out yesterday , DD was calling at a friends house for a doorstep chat , I went along for the ride , and it meant her chum didn’t keep her standing too long ?
When we got home said DD called out that she was leaving me a few veg left over , I thought they would be nice fried up , but they were raw veg , a whole cauliflower, a head of broccoli and a few sprouts , so I cooked the sprouts , chopped the rest with an onion and some stock and have a weeks supply of soup in the freezer , but so much brassicas cooking don’t half pong ! But soup was delicious
Poorly Grans you are still on my prayer list , I lit a candle in the Chapel , I just had enough change for one , but it helps me concentrate on my prayers .
Using a card for purchases leaves me short of small change
It was a wee bit brighter this morning , the days are on the good side of the Equinox now ?

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 28-Dec-21 08:53:34

Good morning from a very mild but rainy NE Hampshire. After a quiet day yesterday which included a walk and finishing the knitting of a jumper, today I’m taking granddaughter to see Spider-Man again. She’s been with mum and dad and is desperate to go again. I remember feeling like that when I was a teen so I’m happy to oblige.
Hoping everyone has as good a day as possible and safe journeys for those travelling.

brook2704 Tue 28-Dec-21 08:50:29

Oh ginny sorry to hear such sad news. Condolences to your friend and I hope your nephew fully recovers soon ?

Urmstongran Tue 28-Dec-21 08:43:13

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s chucking it down and has been all night. Never mind, we got a walk yesterday and today I’m meeting book club retirees in a newly opened bar/restaurant, just on the next block to me on this main road. I really fancy it and I’m glad that’s where we are lunching.

No Matt today. Must be enjoying his Bank Holiday!

Safe journeys to all who are travelling today. x

ginny Tue 28-Dec-21 08:38:52

Good morning from a wet and windy N. Bucks.
Glad you are home safely Mick and had a good time.as We had three lots of bad news yesterday.
The husband of one of my friends died suddenly on Boxing Day.
My nephew suffered a heart attack on the same day. He is doing ok so far so we have fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Thirdly, friends who were coming to stay for a few day are now unable to due to illness.
So , feeling a bit lost today, will have to try and keep busy.

Wishing for a smile in everyone’s day.

kittylester Tue 28-Dec-21 08:37:06

Good morning all from a really wet and rainy North Leicestershire.

We are going to a neighbour's house for mince pies and mulled wine at lunch time. Then an afternoon in front of the TV.

Scentia hope you are not disappointed with Leicester - there is not much left. sad

Grandmadinosaur Tue 28-Dec-21 08:33:12

Good morning from a yet again grey East Yorkshire.

I did my tidying and soup making yesterday. Also had a walk and then I had a musicals fest watching some not all of My fair lady, West side story end ending with Miss Saigon.

Today we are heading out somewhere. DH suggested the coast which I love at this time of year but it’s too foggy and damp. . I’m thinking of making it Beverley as they have several shops I like and didn’t get to pre Christmas.

Sounds like you had a good break in IOW Mick but a nightmare journey home.

Take care everyone.

dragonfly46 Tue 28-Dec-21 08:31:01

Good morning from Leicestershire where it is tipping down.
DD is leaving today so hope the rain stops.
The dog is staying til after New Year so definitely hope the rain stops.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Mapleleaf Tue 28-Dec-21 08:29:23

Good morning all,

Another dreary day here in South Yorkshire. The rain is battering the window.

Managed to get out for a walk yesterday, it was surprisingly mild, and it was nice to get outdoors for a while.

Glad you enjoyed your IoW break, Mick. It sounds as if the tour company packed a lot into your short trip.

Hope you all have a good day, whatever your plans.

monk08 Tue 28-Dec-21 08:26:30

Welcome back Mick and a good morning all from the Black country where its wet and windy.
Nothing planned for today will carry on reading my book. Might do some ironing if the mood takes.
Safe journey for those travelling and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Chrissielou Tue 28-Dec-21 08:24:57

Good morning, its a blustery wet day here in Oxfordshire, we live 'in the middle of nowhere' in quite an exposed location so the wind is howling round us! Another wet muddy dog walk, DH will take one of our GSs to the barbers later, DD1 is trying to avoid going out as she has recently had a diagnosis and needs to avoid catching covid with such a weak immune system and prior to the start of chemo. I'm making the most of being off work, poor DH goes back tomorrow. Enjoy your day.

Alygran Tue 28-Dec-21 08:22:32

Good morning from the High Peak. I haven’t looked out yet so not sure of the weather.
Driving home today so I hope it isn’t foggy across the Woodhead Pass.
I’ve had a lovely Christmas break with the family.
Sounds like you had a good break too Mick.
Safe travels to everyone on the move and good wishes to all.

Ashcombe Tue 28-Dec-21 08:20:11

Good morning from a wet start in Crewe.

I'm pleased Mick had an enjoyable break but sorry to hear of the frustrations of the return journey. I hope grandMattie has an easy journey home. We, too, will be travelling home today.

Have a good day, everyone, whatever you have planned. ???

Pittcity Tue 28-Dec-21 08:13:44

Good morning from rainy Colchester.
Woken late today by the bin lorry. Yesterday's rain meant we only left the house to put the bins out. Doing nothing really makes you tired.
Hope it dries up for a while as a walk would be welcome. We have plenty still to eat and had ham, egg and chips last night...a favourite.

Welcome back Mick, glad you had a good time.

Love to all ? x

brook2704 Tue 28-Dec-21 08:10:18

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold, grey and dry. Your holiday sounds good mick I’m pleased you enjoyed it
I’ve nothing much planned for today, maybe a walk later if it stays dry and I might continue with my Christmas jigsaw, a present from DD2. We’re planning a visit to DD1 in Cambridge over New Year so I’ll be getting on with the packing for that trip too. Hopefully all LFTs will be negative.
Safe journey to everyone travelling today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
