Mattie I’m sorry you were caught off guard, it’s rotten that you have to walk on eggshells.

Why is it that I have so many things I could be getting on with during this enforced isolation but I cannot for the life of me drum up any enthusiasm or motivation. So disappointed in myself.

I have, however, accepted the offer of a part time job. I was encouraged to apply for it by the charity shop manager and area manager so now I’m going to be working two days a week as assistant manager in a different branch from where I’ve been volunteering. Don’t know if I’m mad to take it on since I’ve been retired for several years but heyho time will tell.

Good morning all from a overcast Surrey.
Not much planned today for me but that will change, my OH has decided to do some of the DIY needed around the flat as he isn't working until after New Year. This will mean he has need of a labourer and clearer upper!
Yesterday took a turn for the worse, my elderly partially sighted neighbour has been ill with a chest infection for about 6 weeks. Yesterday she decided she was worse and phoned 999 which meant I was then called on to sort out the aftermath. They didn't take her to hospital but managed to do the impossible and speak to a GP! the upshot was more antibiotics and steriods which had to be collected and then a specimen bottle and paperwork to pick up from the surgery which has to go back this morning.
She has no family in this country so no - one but us to call on. To be honest its getting to much for me but what can you do? We are trying to move so heaven help her then but as OH says we also have to think of us. Doesn't stop me feeling guilty though.
Thats my moaning for today, I am off for another cuppa before OH makes a start!

DD is a vicar and Christmas is especially demanding on her time and emotions. She feels dreadfully guilty for not having seen more of Philip and letting COVID come between them. Our relationship has always been prickly with me always in the firing line. I don’t deal well with confrontation so retire under my stone as far as I can, which I find very stressful.
Christmas was lovely and it was very kind of them to invite us so us remaining Matties could be together and grieve together.
Onwards and upwards.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The rain cleared yesterday afternoon so I walked round the village with a friend to see the 12 days of Christmas displays in gardens and windows. Some very talented people live here. Hoping for a dry day as I have the washing machine on.

Up a bit later today although I was awake when daughter went out to work at 6. Thank you for your good wishes, especially Grandmadinosaur. We do have some lovely memories and the family is making plans to come back in summer, so we've got poltava to make for then.

I'm expecting a few parcels today. One industrial size fabric conditioner for all the washing to be done, some books for my daughter's friend and a few tins of tuna. Quite a random selection!

My OH it's off work for a week but he will go into hiding in his garden office in case I find him something to do.

Hope all those with ills, pain or sadness find some peace today. Wishing you all ???

Good morning everyone from a damp but not actually raining Northampton. No need to go out today. My ordered pack of LFT tests arrived yesterday, but will not need to do one until Sunday as I am off to a rugby match then.

The cats came home yesterday and spent most of the day chasing each other up and down the stairs - it sounded as though a herd of elephants were galumphing around the bedrooms. I watched and thoroughly enjoyed my Poirot film in the afternoon; a few details changed from the book but the gist of the story was the same.

A Sainsbury's delivery later this morning, so I had better get my skates on. Shall be listening intently to our local radio as we have a 60s request morning and I have put a request in!

Yesterday I visited mum who made some unpleasant comments. Then I looked after dgs1 for four hours to let dd and sil have a nap. They have colds and so does dgs2 who was up all night. I love spending time with dgs1. He's hard work at times but he's not three yet so just a baby himself.
Today I'll have him back for an hour as dd has an appointment. Apart from that, I'll potter. Like many of you, I feel a bit flat so I need to give myself a shake. Have a good day all.

Morning all, very overcast again. Not sure what today will bring, maybe having two of the GC for play and tea, as happened unexpectedly yesterday. I must get in some more provisions just in case.
I’m sad for Grandmattie having a tense Christmas, and hope that the helpful comments on here will help lift her spirits.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
After a drive to nearest Apple shop buy new Apple Watch for DD birthday and Christmas, surprised to find none in stock or larger IPad for me. However we had a meal together but my steak strips arrived with a handful of chips, no veg or garnish and was pretty grim. The bad shoulder, although much better, seems to have sapped my energy and it all seemed too much effort.
Glad to be here today, the painting of the front of the house continues.

Good morning all and the sky is looking SLIGHTLY lighter. Fed up of these dreary days. As EV says - brighter days on the horizon ?.

I had little gd yesterday - I wasn’t feeling great (cold , not Covid) . She makes up some lovely little games, so we spent the afternoon guessing games, , magic tricks, and collage making with Xmas cards. She’s never bored and makes her own entertainment. ❤️. Her mum was at the hospital having dressings changed. She now has an infection in the foot wound and might have to stay in hospital again! The have removed the dressing from the skin graft and left it to heal. It’s quite a large area! Still no results of the biopsy! I thought this would be a long road ! ?

GM - all families can be fragile and I never believe people who say they aren’t! Don’t forget the saying ‘you only hurt the ones you love’.

Good morning from Newcastle, where I’m outside Asda waiting for the petrol station to open.
It’s barely light but DD1 asked if I could drop DGS1 off at Pre-school as she continues to test positive - 2 weeks now, although one of yesterday’s lines was a little lighter - and SinL has gone back to work.
Pleased to report there was so little traffic I did the journey through in half an hour.

Good morning. Another dull, damp day weather wise. Doesn’t do much to lift the spirits.

Very little change for my Nephew and friend who are ill. Dd3 was going to visit today as our expected visitors are not able to come but DGS2 has an ear infection and is not feeling too good. He only has hearing in one ear so they need to be careful. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly. I’ll be glad when this week is over.

Plenty to keep me occupied at home, if I can concentrate !

Today is GS’s 5th Birthday. Another exciting day! He is having 2 friends round to play and late afternoon we are going out to a local place to eat that has an indoor play area. Thankfully it also looks like his party on Sunday will go ahead ?.
I am going to the hairdressers at lunchtime and we will go over with his presents after that.

After peeking through the curtains where the weathers looks quite mild and damp I’m just wanting to cosy in for another half hour but that’s himself up,lights on and loud mutterings, Hair appointments and dental visits yesterday costing quite a bit of my well earned income but hey ho who cares because I’m worth it

wonder how today will pass nothing planned,however I’m looking forward to catching up with tv recorded favourites, sorry to have missed my weekly zoom yesterday with old friendships

Himself was prescribed a back jell with chillie peppers in it to alleviate his back pain and by gum it’s really working must remember it not for consumption though
Wondering if the army will soon pay me a visit with their bayonets.

Good morning from a mild, breezy Colchester. Looks like the rain might hold off today but I don't think I'll risk putting washing on the line outside.
DH has gone fishing. A few hours to myself, hooray!
He was beginning to get more grumpy than usual with the wet weather and not seeing family due to Covid. They still have a few more days isolation and only mild symptoms so are probably far more grumpy than us.
I can hoover and mop this morning as DS won't come out of his room before noon and so nobody will need to tread on the wet floors.
Maybe a walk to the shops later for a leisurely pootle.

Some brightness this morning in the sky, but very mild and currently dry in Oxfordshire. I will have a long muddy dog walk, walking is one of my greatest pleasures whatever the weather. DD1 and GC will pop over this afternoon to collect the soup I made for her yesterday. Her illness has strengthened our bond, I hope I can provide the support and comfort that she needs on this long journey she is embarking on.

Busy day for me, the three youngest AC and families are here ( 6 GC aged nearly 2 to 13) for dinner. It was definitely my turn to host our twixmas get together (before I am past it they joked?). I shall be spending most of the morning in the kitchen.

The eldest two have other plans I totally get walking on eggshells

Good Morning All x.
It doesn't sound as though it's doing anything outside, no rain or wind. In fact it appears to be quite calm. Black as night still.

I've been awake since 04,30, made myself a cup of tea and watched a film about the Ripper with Michael Caine in it.
What woke me up was a smell of what I can only describe as something cooking so up I got to investigate. I'd left half a cut onion on a plate which I'd forgotten to wrap and the smell permeated everywhere. In the bin it went !

The onion was part of what I'd used making my potato salad yesterday, which was delicious but I don't like the lingering smell of it. Salad again today as I use up the rest of the salmon and everything else.

A late Christmas card yesterday lunchtime from ex. SiL saying that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of May, then had 12 weeks of chemo after which she had a mastectomy on the 16th of December.
We've always exchanged Christmas cards and usually news by letter but I'll phone her today and see how she is and we can exchange moans.

Although I've been " programmed " throughout my life to clear the decs./ cards on the 12th night, they're all getting on my nerves now as I can't get around to do some proper tidying up/ cleaning, so away they go I think----the place is cluttered enough

Second cuppa on the go here, I'll be peeing past myself. I'm ready for the crumpets as well as tum's rumbling like billyo. What it is to have a rumbling tum, a good sign of an appetite.

Cats are fed, except the old Tom outside in his kennel he takes his time now, but looks so comfortable as I put a big piece of sponge inside a few weeks ago. It was part of some packing so has proved very useful for the old boy. His age doesn't stop him from eating though, he just loves his grub.

Dawn is just beginning to break, another new day, yippee , nearly another New Year. Lighter nights/ mornings !
