Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and signs of rain this morning in brackley .
Yesterdays trip to Bicester was marred by the bus having a flat tyre , I was waiting for the usual depart not see it turn up, anyway I went onto the twitter page to see the above mentioned , posted it elsewhere to let others know , before catching it later .
Today , get rid of a load of rubbish , plus tidy up before I go out later .
Take Care,
Mick
Hello Jeanver
Good morning from a sunny NE.
It is 12 degrees and quite pleasant.
I have not been sleeping well and had a dicky tummy too so spent quite a while in front of TV.
I am pleased Christmas is almost over, it was difficult to deal with being only two months since DH's death. I have family here some days but I feel exhausted with the effort to appear sociable.
Enjoy your day.
Good morning from a warm and sunny South Yorkshire. What a change in the weather ☺️
Yesterday turned out to be very exciting and I am going to Spain with a friend in a couple of weeks. I'm a mix of excitement and nerves not having been abroad for over 2 years now and trying to work though all the testing requirements. Today a trip for food shopping is planned and then grandchildren over night.
Have a good day all
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Just a quick visit to say hello. DD & SiL coming on Jan1st to bring their dog. All a bit unexpected, so shopping and cooking needed.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Good morning from w/York's where the the sun has started to peep through ,I am wanting a little outing today ,haven't been out since 16th so Fed up now ,I have managed to put socks on today without too much pain so chuffed about that ? Its nice to see another w/York's gran on board .Thank you all you lovely ladies who have emailed and kept my spirit up with your posts .?
We were late up this morning I think the previous few weeks of sleepless nights are catching up with us. DGS2 had a good day yesterday dietician was back from Christmas break and he had some yoghurt first food for 3 weeks and managed to swallow it. This is a massive improvement and he is feeling pleased with himself. We have a bright day today after a week of dark heavy rain will try to get a quick walk in before watching the darts. Don't normally watch but a young man from my home town is playing and has done really well.
Hope everyone has a good day and all upsets are quickly forgotten.
Good Morning all from Harrogate - weather nondescript! Jeanver and Hiraeth good to see you both, hope you will continue joining us with your chatter!
You Sound brighter Marydoll hope you feel it.
So sorry your Xmas wasn't quite what you needed GrandMattie, you've all had a lot to contend with this past year - it can only get better.
Had a surprise yesterday when DD brought DGD round for the afternoon, DGD decided I hadn't had a hug for a long time - she nearly flattened me, in the best possible way.
Hope you all have a great day.
So well put Maw oh grandMattie lick your wounds and spend time doing whatever brings you joy.
On the same theme (don’t mean to be crass - it’s not about loss, just expectations and lowering them) our daughter in her very early 20’s said NYE was often a let down in city centre Manchester. Expectations were set too high, hyped up and was often more disappointing than an ordinary Saturday night out there - the bar set so much lower everyone jumped over it and relaxed, had more fun. It made sense.
Hello Hiraeth. I didn’t realise you’re new to the Good Morning thread as your name seems familiar
Maw, all very kindly and tactfully put. I’m used to DDKs behaviour, we love each other to bits, but…
Oh yes, Urms, the expectation is such a bar to enjoyment, but she is grown up, in her own house and has to set her bar where she sees fit.
But,my dear friends, all your wisdom is very helpful and so, so kind! Thank you.
Lunch might be different. Just had phone call from AS, GS (13) was rushed to hospital last night, seen in A & E, straight to operating theatre he is now home sleeping off anaesthetic in his own bed. How marvellous is our NHS in times of emergencies.
GS is adamant that they are coming here, he will be ensconced on Grandmas bed, with Sky, internet and being waited on ???
Good morning all from a brighter, milder Glasgow.
I often think AC revert back to childhood mode sometimes when in their parent’s company grandM pushing a Mother’s unconditional love to the limit. Christmas is a fraught time for many and planned get togethers, full of expectation don’t always go smoothly as planned. You have enough to bear without having to walk on eggshells and for your sake, I am glad you decided to make the visit short.
Very promising news about your GS Maria. Even the tiniest bit of progress is a positive result.
You sound a bit more chipper, I’m pleased to hear Marydoll
A warm welcome to you both Hiraeth and Jeanver
Have a pleasant day all and hoping it’s a brighter one for those not in a good place at the moment.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a showery Carlisle. DS2 and I arrived back yesterday afternoon in his hire car, having come from Nottingham where we stayed a night to see my sister and niece. We visited Settle and viewed the wonderful Ribbleshead Viaduct on the way. The rain and spray on the motorways was atrocious, the wind in the Dales fierce and gusty. We had thought to lunch at the Tebay Services but the crowds and queues in the restaurant! Word has certainly got about that it’s really good in there. The menu was very truncated and standard though this time so we didn’t mind missing out and getting on our way. Too risky covid-wise as well we thought.
We’ve just done a big shop at Sainsbury’s where it was pleasingly quiet. DS2 has planned menus and seems intent on taking over the cooking. Certainly fine by me! Both of us are reluctant to get on the scales after a week of excellent feeding by my talented DS1 and DDiL so I gather healthy food is intended.
Hello Jeanver, keep posting!
And the best possible day to all.
A late good morning from me, still really tired after Christmas events and emotions. Off out to meet dear friends for lunch, all lateral flow tested, when will this end?
A lot of understanding of loss and grief from this group, I’m sure it helps everyone and I send love and support to all who need it and thanks to all who can express it so well.
Welcome to Jeanver and Hiraeth and good wishes to everyone ???
Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
I had my medical day yesterday, and was taken by a Volunteer driver for my CT scan. I said that I could smell petrol in his car, and he told me that he had overfilled it. It is a low slung sports car, and not the best for elderly ladies. He did wonder whether the fuel had got into the hood when it was folded down, and said that he couldn't smell it. After my appointment, which lasted an hour and a half, he said he had tried to investigate the smell, with no luck. It was still very strong. In the afternoon, I was, and am still this morning, feeling lightheaded. Maybe from the fumes!
Quiet day today, so feet up and knitting to get on with.
Have a good day one and all.
Good Day everyone, I was in bed early , slept like a log , woke at 5 , read for a bit , curled up at 7.30 for a wee doze ! Next thing it was 10.20 ! Now got a thick head .
However I’ve had a cuppa , got eldest sons card done , post later. Tidied the kitchen , put yesterdays washing away , it dried overnight on the airer
Now collapsed and catching up here ,
Hope health improves for everyone , brighter days ahead xxx
Hi. I live near Pontefract. Though originally from Dumfries! My husband is born and bred in Doncaster though.
Hi Jeanver ? nice to have you join us. ?
Good day Michael and All from North Warwickshire where it is a nothing sort of day. The best I can say is it's not cold, not raining just grey.
I find the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day a bit trying as there is a feeling of let down.
My son wanted to come for a socially distanced visit. I managed to persuade him not to on Covid based grounds.
It has nothing to do with that. I think he is having a mid-life crisis. He has bought a motor bike and was going to ride the thing for 150 miles to get here. He is much more sensible than he was as a biking teenager but when I know he is on the road I still dread a phone call telling me he's had a close encounter with an articulated lorry. The biker is always the loser in these cases.
Oh my goodness GG13 hope your DGS is ok now - what a worry that must have been. So lovely he wants to recuperate with you though ❤️
