My get-up-and-go has gone ?

Wanted:
Missing, get-up-and-go
If anybody has it can they please send me some?
Is it the dull, damp morning? Too much food over Christmas?
“End of a cr*p year” syndrome?
Whatever, I am finding it hard to stay vertical, can feel no motivation whatsoever for the (few) tasks I had hoped to achieve before the end of the year, and just want to curl up and hibernate.
Move over Rosie

Silverlining you make me feel ashamed blush
But not enough to actually stir my stumps! grin
Best wishes to your DH and keep safe yourself flowers

On the other hand, my DGS just sent me this pic. View from their window this morning. I could have been there too but just couldn't be bothered with the sheer hassle of travelling right now. Am regretting it a bit.

No chance here! If we don't do this twice a day we're in big trouble. Puppies! See you lucky lazy people later.
I'll do a swap!

Coastpath Thu 30-Dec-21 10:44:52

No energy at all here so just curling up with a good book.

It’s very hard to find some ‘get up and go’ for me today. This birthday girl should be celebrating it with her lovely DD. She usually comes to stay for a few days between Christmas and the New Year. For the third year running we’ve cancelled it. FaceTime is due any moment.
My lovely DH and dog Mya will lift my spirits as well as lots of messages from my fabulous friends. ??

Aveline Thu 30-Dec-21 10:48:09

So should I get dressed? It's not even 11 yet.

Aveline Thu 30-Dec-21 10:49:09

Happy birthday muse ?

Happy Birthday Muse ???

Rosalyn69 Thu 30-Dec-21 10:52:54

Completely lost the will and now my lady who does isn’t doing today due to Covid and the husband has no golf and is prowling round the house moaning about rain.

Blossoming Thu 30-Dec-21 10:54:23

Happy Birthday Muse

Happy Birthday Muse ??

I have started prepping lunch. Just received a phone call from middle AS, GS (13) was rushed to hospital last night, seen in A & E, straight to operating theatre and now home sleeping off anaesthetic. How wonderful is our NHS.

Numbers for lunch may be down, GS is insisting they come so he can lay on Grandmas bed and be waited on ?

I'm due to be meeting a friend for lunch, in a town 10 miles away, in 2 hours. Not even showered and dressed yet. blush

My get up and get got up and went sometime ago!
I do walk the dog and get the housework done but I have no enthusiasm for doing anything beyond that. I don’t like the winter anyway so probably a touch of SAD going on here. Add a very stressful miserable year to that and I don’t think it’s surprising so many of us feel that way.
Be kind to yourselves, spring will come and hopefully our spirits will rise.

TillyTrotter Thu 30-Dec-21 11:27:27

Happy Birthday muse ? ?

Soroptimum Thu 30-Dec-21 12:30:22

My get up and go has got up and gone too. Waiting for the new year (why?) to stop drinking as much, stop eating as much and generally move about more. Photo of my son’s dog Chico ☺️

Grandmagrim Thu 30-Dec-21 12:33:25

I just want to hibernate and not wake up again until April or May 2023

BlueSky Thu 30-Dec-21 12:37:35

BlueBalou yes hopefully we’ll perk up in the spring! smile

I have actually bestirred myself to strip the turkey (stock is on the hob) and put some washing on, but now I’m going to collapse on the sofa with my Kindle. Can’t even be bothered to knit at the mo.

Shall have to walk up to the postbox later, though, to post my PCR test - dh is positive, ditto many we saw over Christmas. I think I’ve probably got it too despite negative LFTs - feel more tired than usual, cold symptoms and felt really cold and fluey the other day.
Enjoy your hibernation, everybody - I hope you’ve got plenty of Christmas chocs left to sweeten it!

I’m thoroughly enjoying the absence of my get up and go.

I’m being eco friendly not running machines until January 3rd - and supporting local independent takeaways!

Caring for two feline overlords and binge watching, bliss!!

VioletSky Thu 30-Dec-21 12:55:24

My get up and go has also got up and gone.

I'm not enjoying these days where I wake up and discover I've done myself a back injury in my sleep.

This is not logical, I didn't even dream so I can't have been sleepwalking or sleep lifting heavy objects?

MayBee70 Thu 30-Dec-21 13:01:41

I’m glad it’s not just me. It doesn’t help having a couch potato of a dog, either….

Read that.
Tired now! grin

I’ve decided to go to bed for an hour with some hot lemon and a book. I’ll behave as though I’ve got a cold and can look after myself, rather than clean the utility ?

grandtanteJE65 Thu 30-Dec-21 14:14:27

Why don't you all take a couple of days off?

Celebrate the New Year by seeing how little you need to do to stay alive!

Get up late, make some food, eat it, dress take dog for walk (if applicable) or if not clean the cat's tray, then go back to bed or curl up somewhere else nice and warm with a book.

DH got up this morning, made coffee which we drank, scrolled through the news on his computer giving me a running commentary (much appreciated as I can't read it unless standing slap bang in front of screen) and by the time I had washed up and was ready to go shopping, he had curled up on the sofa under his mohair tarten plaid, sound asleep. Slept all the time I was out, plus 1 hour. Got up, took a shower and is now asleep again.

Enjoy hibernating and a Happy New Year when it comes!

What a relief to see this thread yes you've guessed it, my get up and go has gone too which is why I'm typing this instead of what I really should be doing, but just can't be bothered.

I've decided that I'm just going to accept it's gone for now and not even bother to look for it until Monday at the very earliest.
