Good morning. Lots of rain overnight but it has stopped at the moment . Sounds quite breezy outside.

We have two friends coming this evening for dinner. Not too much work as they are bringing starters and pudding. I have prepared a beef bourguignonne and will do cheese and coffee. A far cry from the big crazy parties we used to have.

Hope everyone can find a smile today.

Anniebach Fri 31-Dec-21 08:37:23

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all from a so far dry and warm South Yorkshire. Grandkids stayed overnight and have only just got up! Not sure what's happening... It used to be a 7am start but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. No plans for new year but wishing you all a much better 2022 ?

Kalu Fri 31-Dec-21 08:47:18

Pleased to hear Dollie is able to visit you today Marydoll. Non stop chatter no doubt as she brings you up to date with all her news. ?

I do like the sentiment on your card Pittcity, sums it up really after the turmoil of the last two years. ?

Good morning from a very wet Leicestershire.

I saw someone knocked off his bike just near us yesterday which upset me.
We were invited to see friends this evening but have decided to stay home. We will stay up though to be with the dog when the fireworks start.

Let’s hope 2022 is a better year.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 31-Dec-21 08:51:21

Good morning Mick and everyone from a wet and dismal Oxfordshire, just a normal day here today, but MissOops, nephew and dog will be here tomorrow for the day after viewing their (hopefully) new rental, they hate to leave the house they are in but at least this new one is nicer, then after tomorrow we will be going over to help them start to pack, even if the house tomorrow isn’t suitable they still have to be out in 6 weeks.
So Marydoll I hope that 2022 brings you better health and that all other GNers have a Happy and Healthy 2022.

hollysteers Fri 31-Dec-21 09:03:45

Good morning Mick and all from a dull and damp northwest coast. DD and DS left now and off to buy some essential provisions. Glad to have a bit of ordinary life back. House front still being painted. Feel tired after the Christmas clamour but shoulder not too painful. TV aerial plating up, something else to add to the list.
Also popping round to a friend with birthday card and gift, was able to palm off a tin of shortbread nobody likes on the painter who does.
All the best for 22.

Good Morning from a damp NE Hants. Nothing much planned to-day apart from a quick shop for top ups of washing up liquid and laundry liquid from our Eco General store and as always when I go there I fins another little treasure to use, that should please Greta T. grin OH needs to collect a prescription up from the Chemist after his long telephone consultation yesterday with the GP. I have mixed feelings about these non-face to face appointments but so far, this system has worked really well for us. Number 1 daughter has tonsillitis which has most of the omicron symptoms but her GP again did a telephone consultation and prescribed her anti biotics and assured her it will clear up in a week or so. Hope so as she is having her bathroom re-modelled next week and will have no running water for a couple of days. Then she stars a new job second week of Jan. all a bit concerning but she sails through it all with a great determination. Gotta love her grin

Good morning all,

It’s dry for the moment, but there are ominous black clouds looming in the distance. I think we’re in for yet another grey day.

Here’s hoping that 2022 brings better things. Enjoy this last day of December 2021, whatever your plans.

Jaxjacky Fri 31-Dec-21 09:11:12

A damp good morning from S Hants with the default grey skies, unnaturally mild.
No big plans today, a walk later to our local for an early drink and midnight we’ll share with Jools.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.

Good morning from another dreary, drab and dismal day in Essex by the sea.
DH has gone to his boat, I shall potter and prepare some vegetables to make soup for dinner.
Tomorrow I am going to DD2's house for a few days. Youngest granddaughter is 4 on Tuesday and is having her party on Sunday. She is so excited.
I booked tickets for us to go and see Lord of the Dance at our local theatre for next June, something to look forward to.
I wish everyone the very best for 2022, lets hope that this next year is far better than the previous two.
Gransnet has been a lifeline for so many of us in these uncertain times. Love, laughter, friendship and commiserations. Thank you everyone xxx

Grandmadinosaur Fri 31-Dec-21 09:24:06

Good morning all from East Yorkshire where there it is dry and there are streaks of blue in the sky.

A lovely day yesterday celebrating GS birthday. In the evening I watched the film Judy on TV. I remember a friend going to see it at the cinema and she was disappointed in it but I enjoyed it. Such a tragic life but it really came across how much she loved her children.

Nothing planned for today we are getting lazier and more lethargic as the week goes by. I have an order to collect from M&S but it isn’t urgent.

Again nothing planned for tonight I feel as if I’ve done with the years of partying on NYE. All I hope for all of us is a better
year.
Happy New Year to you all.

cornergran Fri 31-Dec-21 09:24:20

Morning Mick, morning All. You’ve guessed it, grey skies over our corner of Somerset with drizzle

Quiet day here yesterday and ahead today.

Thinking of you all, especially those with worries or health issues along with a wish for a happy, peaceful and healthy new year.

NannyJan53 Fri 31-Dec-21 09:24:52

Good morning from a damp and soggy Black Country.

Mum had wax removed from her ear at Spec Savers yesterday, so her hearing aid now sits correctly and no longer squeals. The NHS now longer do this, so she had to pay £50 and wait 3 weeks for this appointment.

No real plans today. We usually go out for NYE but for the 2nd year running we will stay at home and cook a special meal. Hopefully go for a walk this afternoon if it stays dry as predicted.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2022

Alygran Fri 31-Dec-21 09:25:28

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s grey and dull but not raining yet.
Off for some shopping and a walk in my nearest town this morning then settle down with a book and my knitting later. No plans for NYE celebrations.
Wishing everyone a happy new year.

Nannytopsy Fri 31-Dec-21 09:25:32

Good morning Mick and all his followers and a very Happy New Year to you all. We woke to heavy rain, there is a band of blue sky approaching and then another band of heavy cloud on the horizon. A day of mixed weather then!
An exciting morning of visiting the tip and then drop the cat to the cattery, before the Granddog appears tomorrow. She will kick start my New Year’s Resolution, which is to walk everyday.
As we don’t go to bed before midnight normally, we shall be up for the celebration, with a glass of something. I doubt if there will be fireworks round here but we usually see them on TV after watching Jules Holland’s Hootenanny.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

harrigran Fri 31-Dec-21 09:32:19

Good morning from a mild and damp NE.
We had torrential rain overnight.
Watched Judy last night and enjoyed it, took myself off to the cosy music room rather than sitting in the large empty lounge.
Another first for me, I will be seeing the New year in alone.
Best wishes to all.

BlueSapphire Fri 31-Dec-21 09:36:51

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, with more rain forecast. Staying in again today as there's nothing I really need from the shops and they will be heaving anyway with it being New Year's Eve. Normally I would go just for the outing even if I didn't need anything, but will wait till next week. It's just good to have a change of scenery, have a coffee and a mooch around the shops.

Will clean the kitchen, read the newspaper, do the puzzles, then this afternoon settle to read again - I got quite lost in my book yesterday afternoon, and read for three hours! Can't knit at the moment as I grazed my knuckle the other day and it is still sore. No cooking to do today as I have a home-made curry thawing in the fridge. Have decided to open a bottle of fizz tonight to cheer myself up!

Hoping today is better for anyone feeling down or poorly.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 31-Dec-21 09:44:54

Morning Mick and all

I am late again, in my defence I have been downstairs and done the final bits and bobs of tidying up after having the family over last night.

Our DGS was so pale when they arrived, he is walking extremely carefully, taking lots of painkillers. We are still amazed that he was admitted to hospital, operated on (under general anaesthetic) and discharged in 12 hours.

It’s just DH, DD, GSs and myself this evening we shall have a Chinese takeaway. Not sure if we will make midnight as we all had a late one last night.

A big thank you to all my virtual friends, we have laughed, cried and moaned our way through 2021.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2022, let’s hope it’s a good one. ?‍♀️??‍♀️?

Urmstongran Fri 31-Dec-21 09:51:50

? for you harrigran.

Good morning Mick, morning all from dreich South Lanarkshire. Daft dug and I got drenched on our walk which was cut short by the not so daft dog refusing to go on, she firmly turned tail and headed for home.

I’m going for a PCR test later as I’ve got a cough and sore throat, it may only be a cold as my LFTs have been negative but I’d best be sure.

Marydoll I’m sure Dollie will brighten your day, you are often in my thoughts.

Harrigran flowers.

We’ll see in the New Year with the television for company then head to bed.

Here’s hoping better days are coming.

All the best for the Bells my virtual friends.

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 31-Dec-21 10:24:10

Good Morning from what is promising to be a dry day in Harrogate.
Good to hear Dollie is coming to brighten your day Marydoll
Enjoyed the funny Fanny
This afternoon I am having my Sainsburies delivery, I couldn't get my normal Thursday Morning slot. My choice was Monday evening (My freezer didn't have much room and i was still reasonably stocked up, so not much point).
Had a Zoom chat with my sisters, my DD2 hosts it, so DGS joined in, no he is not my Poppet, he's my bear??
I was looking at the pile of presents my friend had given me including a box of tea bags, I suspect she'd sampled them first, then scratched out the sell by date!! Most other items had come from charity shops!
Hope everyone has a much better and happier New Year!

mamaa Fri 31-Dec-21 10:49:45

All the best to all GNetters for the coming year- although I have a feeling it might be a case of ‘once more unto the breach dear friends, once more’…I do hope I’m wrong!

MayBeMaw Fri 31-Dec-21 10:50:34

Good morning all - since I first opened half an eye several hours ago the weather seems to have gone from drizzle to dreich to the sun trying to break through. Keep trying, sun!
flowersflowers For all those spending their first New Year alone or indeed without or apart from loved ones, it is hard.
Oddly I was most depressed by well-meaning friends who seemed to think I would like the idea of a new year and a new life. As if. I wanted the old one back!
But in the words of the song of course it is a time to reflect on lang syne, on years gone by, changed circumstances and those we miss.
In case I seem too maudlin, I’m just adding this.

Blossoming Fri 31-Dec-21 10:51:25

Good morning Mick and everybody. Sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 11°C. We have absolutely nothing planned for today, I am expecting a parcel around lunchtime and may go for a short walk after that. The usual physio exercises and cycling (indoors) later. Hoping to stay up until after The Bells to see out 2021.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ???
