Good morning all from a sunny Black country, washing out on the line it's so nice to see some sun.
Walk round to local shops then back to finish my book.
Nothing planned for this evening just a quiet night in and will raise a glass to the New Year.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year see you in 2022?

Hello from south Devon.
I went out at 8.15 delivering our local magazine. What struck me was how very mild it was. Unseasonably warm.
Wishing everyone a truly happy new year and less of the covid thing, please god!

Hymnbook Fri 31-Dec-21 10:57:20

Good morning everyone. Here in Sherwood Nottingham it's mild again and the sun is trying it's best to shine. There may even be enough blue sky to make a pair of sailors trousers. A saying that reminds me of my mum.
Spending the new year on my own as usual the same with Christmas. I'm thinking l may go away next year. I'm getting so fed up of spending so many weekends bank holidays alone. I hope everyone has the best day they can . The Christmas lectures on BBC 4 over the past 3 evening's given by professor jvt have been enlightening and have given some information and hope for the future. Best wishes for the coming new year.

Good morning from Lancashire where the weather is glorious. I’ll be out for a cycle ride to get some exercise, a form I prefer when numbers are high. My ultimate destination is the greengrocer’s only … there are many tempting shops along the way! ?
Enjoy the new year when it comes. My?for better times ahead for everyone.

Just a Plea - for those who are planning to go out or having visitors PLEASE be really careful, and treat everyone as though they have Covid. My sister (a nurse) has just been called into work (she was supposed to be off until 3rd Jan) because so many members of staff are off isolating or ill. A friend of mine with Covid (and a temperature) who is SUPPOSED to be isolating, has "nipped out" to her local supermarket for a few food items thereby spreading it to who knows how many people (yes, she lives alone but has friends and a neighbour who have all offered to do her shopping) and my cousin's son, aged 30, fit and healthy but unvaxxed, has just died in hospital from Covid (I have no idea how she will ever get over this). I know we're all bored with all this by now but it hasn't gone away. PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

Good Morning All x
From glorious Merseyside where we have sun and warmth and a lovely breeze blowing my washing. I can't believe I'm saying this on NYE ! It's insane weather, but it suits me as I get far more done.

Saying that, in between chores I've had " Goodnight Mr Tom " on tv and because I've seen it many times before I avoided the really sad bits or I'd have blubbered my way through.

I haven't yet read through the posts to see who's off to celebrations etc. but I'll enjoy reading all the goings-on with everyone. Needless to say, I probably won't see a soul as I haven't done for over a week now, but at least I haven't fallen foul of anything nasty.

In the NY, I'll plump for my second vax and I won't feel so much an outcast because this is my problem with everyone right now and the reason for no visitors or mixing.

Anyway, I'll now read through and answer/ reply where appropriate. For the time being, stay safe and well.xx

We have just done our LFT’s - both negative. Ditto our friends who are driving over later.

Good afternooon from the depressingly wet and windy south of Denmark.

Am I glad I did the shopping yesterday? I would have needed a wet suit (which I don't have) to cycle to the shops today.

I am putting off going out to the bin for as long as possible, as the rain is not stopping. I shall have to go soon to bring in a wheelie bin that was emptied early this morning in, throw out the contents of the kitchen bin and open the mail-box, so no bright young thing is tempted to stuff a firework into it later on.

Floors all swept and the place reasonably tidy to welcome the New Year.

Wishing you all the best iin 2022 - and that it is not a repeat of this and last year!

A late post as I have spent an hour with DH who is slowly slipping away. He had an amazing week, enjoying visits from DD and DGD1 but has decided he has had enough. He recognised my voice today and tried to speak but it is only a matter of time. He is calm and comfortable and I have said to him all the things I needed to tell him, read him some favourite poetry and stroked his face. Will go back if called in but otherwise will let him go. Don’t quite know what I feel, and whether to tell the on holiday children or wait till there is something definite to say, because this could go on for days. If they call me I won’t lie to them but there is nothing they can do here so best left, I feel. Opinions on this welcome because I don’t want to get it wrong. They couldn’t visit because the nursing home is locked down (four positive testing residents).

Grandmabatty Fri 31-Dec-21 12:40:28

Grannysomerset my heart goes out to you. I've a wee tear in my eye at your post. You say the children wouldn't be able to visit their dad, but they could support you. Whatever you decide will be the best decision for you.

Urmstongran Fri 31-Dec-21 12:56:41

Oh that’s so sad to hear GrannySomerset. I’m glad you had time together to say your goodbyes but you must now be so upset. I think I’d share what I know with the family, if they ring today. If not, tomorrow. x

EllanVannin Fri 31-Dec-21 13:02:58

Just looked at the temperature here----it's 13 ! Double the norm.
Interesting reading through the posts as many of you are unsurprisingly a bit down in the mouth. Hope it will pass after we reach the New Year. I can understand Marydoll as this feeling is part of those who have RA and you never know the minute.

I've never been a fan of New Year, so wouldn't have been going anywhere if I'd been able to. Always more than happy watching a film then going to bed as normal. I can't believe a year has gone since a neighbour knocked to join her for a wee dram ( in lots of lemonade ) to see in the NY. I don't drink.

I was watching the Von Trapp family at the time grin and ready for bed afterwards ! Like any other night.
I hope there aren't too many fireworks as last year there was a spent rocket right outside my patio door ! Not nice. Most of us here are " getting on a bit " so to some it seems like a good laugh to liven us up----or kill us with fright.

I'm having a change today for dinner, fish and chips, although I polished off the last of the salmon yesterday with a second salad, I don't mind fish again.
Cooking ham for tomorrow so that'll eke out for a couple of days, then all back to normal with meals and enough in the freezer to see me through January.

GrannySomerset I feel for you right now x. I think I'd wait before saying anything for now. You're in my thoughts flowers brew x. Keep us updated.

Jaxjacky Fri 31-Dec-21 13:03:46

GrannySomerset my thoughts are with you. I agree with you, if they ring tell them, otherwise, as Urms suggested, tomorrow.
Take care of yourself xx

Grannmarie Fri 31-Dec-21 13:04:11

I wasn't going to post today as I was so late but wanted to say Grannysomerset my thoughts are with you and your family. I am so glad your husband had a good week and that you got to say to him what you needed to. Unless the family ring I would leave it until tomorrow. Please look after yourself.

Kim19 Fri 31-Dec-21 18:51:25

GS, I think you've handled your sad situation movingly, thoughtfully, beautifully and perfectly. My thoughts are with you and will continue to be so. ?
