Caused discussion yesterday, found in box of crackers. Have no idea what it's for. Can anyone shed any light?

Does it not say on the back of the box, I thought posh crackers gave a description of the contents.
I loved curly fish to.

Pretty sure it's a paper knife.

BellaT2 Sun 02-Jan-22 11:15:07

Please tell us what brand of crackers! I am fed up buying tat.

Something to make holes in leather? Lucky pendant? Ring knife? To score cardstock so you fold it neatly?

Daffydilly Sun 02-Jan-22 11:24:43

If you still have the original box, it sometimes says (in tiny print) what the novelty gifts are. It's worth a look.

Looks like a letter opener

I also vote for paper knife. I once had to send our original Wedding Certificate off to a Government department. Only half of it was returned, neatly sliced by a paper knife!?

Gajahgran Sun 02-Jan-22 11:52:40

I think it's a paper knife too but it does seem to be in the style of half a pair of scissors. I still use a pack of tiny screwdrivers from a cracker and also a very small pair of folding nail scissors still in use.

My first thought was half a pair of scissors too.

Letter opener??

SueEH Sun 02-Jan-22 12:01:38

As my granny used to say, it’s a thing of purpose smile

mimiEliza Sun 02-Jan-22 12:06:12

What make of crackers were these? Wondered where you bought them in case they are on sale?

GrAnne2 Sun 02-Jan-22 12:12:00

?

I also secretly hid a set of miniature screwdrivers that I had in a cracker one Christmas. This was after my collection of sewing machine screwdrivers began to dwindle.........investigations led to them being discovered in my OH toolbox.
When my Dad died I saved a set of clockmakers screwdrivers - no idea why Dad had them - and they've been really handy too as they're very small at the 'tips' but somewhat longer than mini screwdrivers...........and OH can keep his hands off! ??

JaneJudge Sun 02-Jan-22 12:13:59

it looks like a murder weapon, was there a lead pipe and a candlestick in the others?

Namsnanny Sun 02-Jan-22 12:21:33

I keep them hidden from my husband so they dont disappear....
This made me chortle, Liz46 sounds like my house.

Namsnanny Sun 02-Jan-22 12:24:02

H1954 crossed posts. I didnt realise it was such a common problem. ??

Definitely letter opener. www.betterlivingthroughdesign.com/accessories/scissor-letter-opener/

I think it's a mini letter opener. I was gutted not getting a curling fish, although my little measuring tape will come in handy. My sister asked why she got 2 screws until she put her glasses on and realised they were golf tees grin. Too much wine me thinks ?

granbabies123 Sun 02-Jan-22 12:27:04

Letter opener

brazenp75 Sun 02-Jan-22 12:31:00

Does it say on the box 'contents' list?

SueDonim Sun 02-Jan-22 12:50:43

I think it’s a gadget for getting Boy Scouts out of horses’ hooves! grin

Those mini screw drivers are handy to have around the place. The mini packs of playing cards, too. Fun for children.

I can't judge how large it is, but could it be a bodkin in modern design? The eye certainly looks big enough to thread elastic or tape through.

Saggi Sun 02-Jan-22 13:34:31

Half pair scissors!?! I once got a miniature screwdriver set ( about three years ago) I’m still using them…brilliant! I had a plastic ( smallish) shoe horn…it’s in my swim- bag and I always use it! This year my granddaughter got a 64 “ tape measure!! Not 60 or 72 ….but 64” tape measure !! Confused , she deliberately set off to measure everybody’s head measurement …. My son won/lost!?!? . But she took it home with her.

Joesoap Sun 02-Jan-22 13:36:47

Half a pair of scissors to make you creative what to do with it
