What is you bedroom like?

Mine's a mess & the only room in the house not to have been decorated since we moved in. (because it's needed replastering all that time & I can paint / paper but my plastering's not good) I like my thick luxurious blackout curtains though & it's our elderly dog's favourite room.

Strippy getting it redecorated in a couple of month.As for my get up and go it wet on Christmas Eve and has not come back yet

So do we, Cabbie21 but the thought of emptying everything fills me with dread.
The carpet is not to bad but I think the underlay has gone, it feels rather lumpy.

The house is a dormer bungalow & 5 years ago we extended through the roof to the right of the photo to make an ensuite and a walk-wardrobe - bliss.

My bedroom is very plain but with a fairly dramatic patchwork quilt in a modern style, in shades of bright green and grey and with matching big quilted cushions on the bed. The pine furniture is well worn and I love it. I’m planning a new quilt to alternate with the one that’s there, so that there is a different look to the room from time to time.

Doesn't that drive you mad?!

I'm not up to decorating, but expected to lug a sofa the size of an elephant out of my room and into my 2ft wide hall!

Our bedroom is long overdue for re-decorating. We can no longer do decorating ourselves. We were about to get it done when Covid started, and haven't wanted anyone in the house ever since. The biggest problem will be to find a decorator who is willing to work round the furniture, as there is nowhere else to put it. ( king size bed, two chests of drawers, filing cabinet, bedside cupboards). We also need a new carpet. The colour scheme starts with the headboard and quilt which are dark duck egg blue. I plan to order new curtains first.
I have converted the little spare room into a study, though it still has a single bed in it. The other bedroom is DH’s study and there is no room in there.

Ours has a king size bed, neutral walls and carpet, dark purple velvet curtains with purple winter bedding, lilac summer bedding. One light oak double wardrobe, one matching chest of drawers, it’s comfortable and functional.

Mine is unmentionably cluttered because I'm de-cluttering. I hope that makes sense!

When it’s not Christmas and the dumping ground for all the associated detritus, my bedroom is functional and occasionally doubles up as my office.

I have a small en-suite shower room and a small walk-in wardrobe. The room is furnished with a kingsize bed, two bedside cupboards, a tall chest of drawers, a large bookcase and an equally large desk. Until recently I also kept my filing cabinet in there, but that’s now been moved to the actual office.

I have been planning to put a small sofa in front of the bay window for about two years, but keep putting off buying one because the windows are (over) due to be replaced. Now that my husband is permanently working in his office just upstairs from me it would be nice to have a sofa to share our tea-breaks.

Very calm. Pale blue with large subtle silver flowers thereon and matching self coloured carpet. One small double bed and a bedroom basket chair. Complete wall sized fitted wardrobe with sliding mirrored doors conceals everything else and makes the room look much larger. Three very personal wall pictures. Absolutely love it.

Calm and very comfortable.

I's get rid of the fitted wardrobes too, get a quote off a local company if you want some nice moderns one put in (that don't go over the bed!)

I’ve had a cheeky peek in neighbours’ bedrooms where they’ve done just that and the problem is the room isn’t very deep so no space for a wardrobe other than a diagonal bit of wall and it all looks rather odd to me.

I rather like MissA’s idea of making a feature of the wardrobe doors so I might begin by painting the knobs! ?

I was going to rip out the built in wardrobe but the storage is invaluable and I’ve become weirdly fond of it ?
I'd recommend filling the gap between the top of the cupboards and the ceiling if you have to keep them - it's a dust trap!
You could replace with more modern built in wardrobes that completely fill a wall
And the light fitting needs to go (oops, hope it's not your new one!)

calm and cosy, all white mineral paint, not bright hospital white, pink candlewick fitted bedspreads and silk pillowcases as it is winter, pale pink and cream linen for summer. Two single hypnos beds as they were new 3 months before I was widowed, obviously they will last my lifetime and are next to each other. 3 lovely pictures, white fitted wardrobe, oak chest of drawers and bedside chests. Pale beige stained wooden shutters. Quickstep matt oak flooring and a dark sheepskin rug. Pale cream leather ottoman at the foot of the beds. There are a few plants all sansievieras. I only sleep, read or listen to the radio in there and I love going up to bed

Mine's an untidy mess too at the moment. Bags of toiletries, Christmas presents etc and some clothes that need putting away.
Otherwise, rather retro, 70s G plan style!

My bedroom is just mine now since OH moved into our daughter’s old bedroom. In my room I have one wall papered in William Morris and the other three walls are painted apricot. The central lampshade is apricot with a gold pattern and from Liberty, the bedding is William Morris. I made the curtains from a sort of brown/apricot pattern. The carpet is pale green. There is a large mirror fronted wardrobe on either side of the room - one mine, one OHs. I have a bedside cabinet with an amazing lamp on it which I love. It resembles a large glass mushroom with green wrought iron leaves. There is also a matching chest of drawers and bookcase. Every room in my house, except the bathrooms, have bookcases. Pictures - on the walls I have: a large chocolate box Victorian painting, a photo of Queen Victoria, Albert and their nine children at Osborne House, a poster advertising South London and a black and white fashion photograph by Beaton.

How about making a feature of the wardrobe doors?
Like a feature wall.
Paint them, replace them, or take them off and have a big, rich coloured swishy curtain instead?
