Good morning from a dry chilly E Kent. No frost and we are promised a day’s worth of sunshine ☀️!
DS is now safely home in India, in isolation for week. I don’t know how they will manage dressing changes and pin removal this week, but I suspect it will be next.
My dental appointment went well, if expensively, and I have another next week…. I hope she can fix my niggles.
I made some flapjacks while the oven was on last night, as well as chopping and freezing the ginormous bunches of parsley from the local farm shop.
Today, I have my Spanish homework to do - subjunctive again, ☹️. Thinking of you, Urms and Pant, going to Spain but in no need of the preterite p or subjunctive….
I read somewhere that one should “Live every day as if it was your last but plan as if you were to live forever”. Wise words!
Thinking of all in sorrow, pain or anxiety. Carpe diem. ????☀️

Morning! I had a peek out of the window and there’s a thick frost in West Oxfordshire. I will finish taking down the Christmas decorations today and stripping the tree. I will also go to our local cafe for a WI Coffee morning. Later on I have a WI committee meeting on Zoom followed by an online talk on the history of Trafalgar Square. At some point I’ll make a batch of bolognese mix. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning everyone from a cold and frosty Severnside. Sunshine is forecast for later so I’ve put a load in the washing machine and will also get the towels washed but I expect they will end up in the tumble dryer.

I too was in the dental chair yesterday afternoon. Nothing to pay yesterday as I’d paid a few weeks ago.

Today I’ll put the decorations away in their boxes and then have my few winter decorations scattered about.

I see I have some bulbs starting to show and the pond plant is sprouting new life.

Stay warm and safe ??

Good morning from south Cornwall where the stars are bright, the air very cold and a sunny day is forecast. This morning I'll head to the seafront and do some beachcombing. Then I need to go to Truro station and complain about the abysmal way they handled my daughter when their ticket machine didn't work and she had to pay out another £100 to get home. The staff were cold, disinterested and unhelpful. They couldn't have cared less. Then at Birmingham where she changed trains the assistance she'd booked didn't turn up. Fortunately another passenger helped her. She was told it's due to staff shortages, but they have a responsibility to help a blind person. She wasn't fazed by it but like she said, 'What if I was someone with no confidence?' We are both cross. A trip to the beach will sort me. I expect in Liverpool she will be diving into a tin of Quality Street for succour. smile

Good morning everyone from frosty Wiltshire, chilly walk this morning I suspect!
Little planned for today, my get up and go has definitely gone somewhere I’m afraid ?

Gagagran Wed 05-Jan-22 06:57:34

Good Morning everyone from a much chillier south coast but we too are promised a sunny day - at last! The bulbs are popping up all over the garden now so they know that spring is on its way.

Just found we both have winners on the January Premium Bonds winners site so that's a good start for 2022.

DH is out with his bike club today and our cleaners are due at 8am then a quiet day for me with a few pottering jobs planned.

Have the best day you can everyone. Special thoughts of GrannySomerset and all in pain or distress. sunshine

Good morning from a dark but very cold Oxfordshire, another day of doing practically nothing.
Staying at home in the warm again, although we were given bird nesting boxes for Christmas so we will have to venture down to the bottom of the garden to find suitable trees to put them in, but probably not today, today we will try to see from the conservatory which tree to put them in.
Have a good day everyone, thinking of GS and her family and all those with heavy hearts.

Jaxjacky Wed 05-Jan-22 07:03:17

Good morning from a frosty S Hants.
Totally unacceptable Alizarin.
MrJ back to work, hence the earlier hour, back on voluntary phones today, dentist later this afternoon.
Enjoy your day all, watch for any ???

Good morning from a very cold Essex by the sea.
Shopping, ironing and food preparation this morning before DH comes home from his sailing trip this afternoon.
DGD5 had a lovely birthday yesterday, her and her older sister return to school tomorrow. My other 3 granddaughters go back today. Let's hope they all stay healthy and that the schools remain open.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone and stay safe xx

Good morning all from East Yorkshire where it is 0 degrees … brrr.

Had a lovely catch up with the coffee morning ladies yesterday. Sadly one was missing with Covid. I had planned to meet up with her and her husband over the holidays but time ran away with us and so glad it didn’t happen.

Today I have to empty my pine dresser in the living room. A bit sentimental about it. Had it since we go married 37 years ago and when we got engaged I’d set my heart on it. My grandma helped me collect the plates etc I displayed on it. Our new one arriving tomorrow matches the new dining table that came in November.

Thinking of GrannySomerset
Have a good day everyone.

Grannyme6 Wed 05-Jan-22 07:19:53

Good morning everyone. It’s just getting light and I can hear the birds chirping. Pilates this morning and then a visit to my sister, about a 45 minute journey towards London. We don’t see each other very often, but maybe with the start of a new year that might change ……..
Wishing you all a good day and thinking of those going through difficult times.

Susan56 Wed 05-Jan-22 07:27:27

Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine forecast here today too.

We had a lovely day yesterday with our younger daughter and family☺️

Today we will take the decorations down. The divine Miss M and Hurricane H are coming over for a couple of hours.Gently easing ourselves back into childcare before normal duties resume next week.

Thoughts are with GrannySomerset and her DH?

Have the best day you can everyone and stay safe out there??

Scentia Wed 05-Jan-22 07:36:26

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it feels cold.
I tested positive today, woke up with headache and sore throat and as DD tested positive yesterday thought I best do a test. It is literally 4 months to the day when I had it last time and I have been boosted since then so I think it will pass without any drama, DD on the other hand has only had 1 vaccine and feels quite poorly today.❤️
Off to work still as it is just DH and me at the factory so no different to being at home as we don’t get visitors or anything at the factory.
Hope you are all ok and find a little smile ?

Marydoll Wed 05-Jan-22 07:38:37

Good morning all from a very chilly Glasgow. This cold weather is not good for me at all! I have been coughing non stop for days, feeling I have to reassure people, I don't have Covid! blush
I'm so envious of Pants and Bellasnanna in warmer climes!?

GM, I'm relieved your son is home safely, but I know like all mums, you will continue to worry.
GrannyS has also been in my thoughts, Praying she finds the strength to cope with what lies ahead.
The neglectful treatment of your daughter was shocking and totally unacceptable, Alizarin, I would be complaining too.

According to my smart watch, I had only 1hr 49mins of restful sleep last night. No wonder I feel like a half shut knife this morning! I suspect an afternoon nap will be on the cards.

Nothing planned at all, apart from a few sewing jobs. Raiding the freezer for something for dinner is also on the cards. It is full, but mostly full of indecipherable bags! blush
I'm trying to run it down and have a clear out, to accommodate the mint Cornettos\ Cornetti?, which Dollie has asked me to put on my shopping list! It must be a genetic thing, her daddy and I both love them! ?

For all those supporting ill or troubled family, remember to look after yourself too. We tend to neglect ourselves in these situations, thinking we are indestructible. #strongwoman/ mother

Have the best day possible, everyone. You do not know what is awaiting you, round the corner!

Gingster Wed 05-Jan-22 07:50:12

Good morning all and it’s chilly here in Essex. We had a bit of sleet/snow yesterday. ?

Yesterday was a productive day with me at DD’s house clearing all the Christmas clutter, clothing that the children have grown out of , old toys and broken ‘stuff’. DD was helping but I made her lie with her foot elevated most of the time , giving me instructions, with what to throw and what to keep. I filled the car and went home . Dh took it all to the charity shop and then the tip. We’ll have another go today.

I did go to my Bridge Club in the afternoon while DD rested (?). It was lovely seeing all the old faces and a cheerful time was had by all. We aren’t a serious Bridge group. (Thank goodness). I’ve been to others where it’s very serious stuff! ?.

Alizirin - give them hell!

Lots of dental appointments on here. I’ve got mine next week and I absolutely dread it. ? . # scaredy-cat gran.

Enjoy your days lovely grans , as much as you can. ?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Jan-22 07:53:38

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where’s it’s just starting to get light. We had heavy rain in the night so it’s damp out and looks a bit frosty. Glad I went for my long walk yesterday!

Today I’ve been asked to make the SOAP dish for our little family up the road. Daughter back at work rang last night - she’d like it before we fly off. Talking of which perhaps we ought to collect you en route Friday grandMattie! You are so much more proficient than I. Kudos to you!

Have a good Wednesday all who can. Alazarin I feel cross on your behalf that lack of care was totally unacceptable.

Here’s Matt! Actually in tune with your thoughts Alazarin.

Urmstongran Wed 05-Jan-22 07:55:57

Alizarin - apologies for spelling your name incorrectly.

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, knew it was cold as I could hear the heating clicking on.

Have to venture out on the bus this morning as I have stuff to return to M&S and Next, and also an order to collect from Next. DD had.given me a jumper for Christmas but it is too big; I have a gift receipt for it, so will see if there is another one or if they will let me swap it. Also a couple of things I need from Boots and Sainsbury's. Then home, and put a paprika chicken in the slow cooker. Will probably carry on reading my new book this afternoon, but I have just remembered that I am planning on taking the decorations and tree down.

Had a good health walk yesterday afternoon; the rain had gone, and it was bright and sunny but chilly. It was good to see familiar faces again and enjoyed coffee and a chat afterwards.

Hoping for a good day for all.

NannyJan53 Wed 05-Jan-22 07:57:45

Good morning from a rather icy and cold Black Country.

Received a phone call yesterday from audiology saying my new moulds are ready. So I am off this morning to have them fitted. Merry Hill shopping centre is nearby but I will give it a miss. Our u3a have gone back to zoom meetings.

Alizari that was shocking treatment of your daughter, no wonder you are angry!

Wishing you all a good day. with GrannySomerset in my thoughts.

Chrissielou Wed 05-Jan-22 07:58:45

A cold very frosty morning in Oxfordshire, hopefully we will have sunshine today. An anxious wait as DD1 is having further scans and investigations prior to treatment starting next week.

brook2704 Wed 05-Jan-22 08:02:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve still got snow on the ground but a clear day is forecast today
That’s awful treatment of your DD alizarin I hope you get some resolution to your complaint
Yesterday I had good day putting away all the decorations and having a general tidy up. Today I’m off to the gym for a splash around at the Aqua class and then meeting a friend for coffee
Hope all goes well for your DD chrissielou
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

MayBeMaw Wed 05-Jan-22 08:02:34

Good morning all from cold, dark, N Bucks.
Rosie’s opinion of the weather was to bolt upstairs as soon as she came in from the garden at 7, execute a handbrake turn on the landing and take a flying leap onto my bed.
Where she has remained tucked snugly into my side.
Now, not having seen anybody face to face for the last week other than meeting other dog walkers and we usually remain a dog’s lead length apart, any suggestions for why I have woken up sneezing and with a runny nose? (TMI I know) LFT time again? (sigh);
Film Studies this afternoon (Zoom) - The Invisible Woman, about Charles Dickens’s young lover. Still got to watch it so that’s this morning taken care of.
Loved the Matt, Urmstongran -start the day with a smile (and that gets it out of the way for the rest of the day)
Have the best day you all can!

Jaxjacky Wed 05-Jan-22 08:05:06

Thinking of you Chrissielou?

Urmstongran Wed 05-Jan-22 08:06:34

Mentioning books BlueSapphire you’ve just reminded me and I have downloaded our next book club read ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’ by Abi Daré onto my Kindle. I have more ‘busy doing nothing’ days out in Malaga than over here because we have absolutely no calls on our time. My Kindle is a great companion out there!
