Good Morning Everyone,

Morning from very frosty S Lanarkshire. After many weeks of poor sleep I had a blissful eight hours last night and it’s amazing how different I feel. Now looking forward to our U3A walk later this morning. Also to my daughter returning my table she has had since New Year and helping me dismantle and store away the tree and decorations!

grandMattie I liked your quotation, I think I’ll try and apply that to my thinking.

Alizarin, shocking treatment of your daughter. Apart from the fact that people basically weren’t doing their job, you do wonder about their humanity.

Scentia that’s awful, what bad luck, I hope your symptoms remain mild.

Good luck with the training baubles, as you say, really bad timing, hope you manage without becoming too exhausted.

Kind thoughts to GrannySomerset and others who need them and wishing everyone a good day???

Good morning all from a bright Surrey.
We are going to do a front door drop off of birthday presents today to my MIL in Ascot. She caught covid over the holidays but luckily hasn't suffered to badly, she should be clear now but my OH is so wary of me catching it he doesn't even want me to go. I am looking forward to the run out in the car as apart from going for my jabs I haven't seen the outside world for 3 months!
Hugs for all that need them and special kind thoughts for Grannysomerset and her family at this sad time.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Jan-22 09:26:59

Morning Mick and all

It’s a bright blue sky here in S E Essex and rather chilly (4’) ❄️

My cleaning fairies are due to arrive anytime now, then Gravy Grange will be back to normal (apart from DD and the GSs still here)

I am going to the gym this morning, feel a bit trepidatious, but I need to keep moving or I will just seize up.

Terrible treatment of your DD Alizarin , thinking of grannysomerset ? Scentia I do hope your symptoms are mild.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Good morning from frosty sunny Leicestershire.

Looks like Covid is coming ever closer Scentia and kitty. A good friends husband has just tested positive, he is 86 and has dementia so quite worrying. I saw her less than a week ago so am isolating. NWR and book club meetings back to Zoom!

Your DD’s treatment was shocking grandMattie no excuse.
Thinking of grannySomerset and hope all goes smoothly for your DD Chrissielou.

Morning from a chilly Staffs.
Might be able to meet up with a friend to walk and talk at nearby NT property with huge grounds.
Lost internet yesterday afternoon in the middle of U3A French zoom-grrr! Engineers were in the road so sorted it quite quickly so I could rejoin the group.
Had routine eye test yesterday-very thorough. Recommend Boots. As I suspected I have the start of cataracts so ordered anti glare specs to go over prescription specs for night driving.
Best wishes to all with problems/difficulties

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all Morningsters ???
Chilly mid Cornwall but sun expected ?
You tell them Alizarin ?. Hope there is an apology and a little more! I did have to smile at Matt Urm.
Special thoughts and a hug for GS. ?. Also for chrissielou, scentia and your DD too

Good luck for those with dentist appointments. Mine’s due soon.

No plans, except for trying to keep away from sweet things and all the carbs. Determined to shift these few excess pounds. Few! Started a ‘dry’ month too!

Stay safe Good Morningsters ?????

Grandmajean Wed 05-Jan-22 08:52:34

Good morning from Cheshire.
Raining here.
Shocking treatment of your daughter ,Alizarin It's a good job you say she is a confident person and coped well.
Difficult and worrying times for you and yours Chrissielou I think of you often
Not many plans today. A horrible cleaning job needs doing - Venetian blinds ! Swore I'd never have them again but they do look smart ( when not dusty )
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

harrigran Wed 05-Jan-22 08:33:39

Good morning from a dry but very windy NE.
I slept right through the night, it is many years since I did that.
SIL is coming this morning to help me, we will tidy away Christmas stuff and do some minor repairs and change light bulbs. Amazing how many things malfunction in the few days since he was last here. I also need to submit an electricity meter reading but it is set at an awkward angle in the back of a cupboard.
DD said she will not be returning to her home abroad this week as a medical problem has arisen and she has a hospital appointment. Another thing to worry about, life is difficult at present.
Thinking of GS.

Good morning all from the Black country where there is snow on the ground.
Very busy on here 33 posters already will read later its mum's and toddlers today and I go to help Dil who runs it.
Have a good day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Good morning from North Wales. Very cold and we had snow last night which has been washed away by heavy rain this morning.
I was thinking of a trip into town but I don't really need to go and with the weather and covid probably better to stay local.
We seem to have a wasp problem in January! Someone is coming to see where they are coming from and hopefully getting rid of the problem. Mostly affecting my neighbour but I have found a few lurking in my hallway.
Have a good pest free day everyone.

ginny Wed 05-Jan-22 08:23:50

Good morning. Chilly but dry in N. Bucks at the moment.
Must finish putting the Christmas decorations away this morning. Change the bed, ice a cake and make a fish pie.
This afternoon I have to split myself in two. Craft club starts again and our January WI meeting is always in the afternoon rather than the evening.

Wishing all as good a day as possible.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. It’s literally freezing outside.

Today I re-enter the world of work (as in paid work) after having retired several years ago, the timing isn’t great I must say, I could do with another week. Just two days this week working from home completing all the online training, health & safety, safeguarding etc., then four days for the following two or three weeks training on the job. I’ll still be childminding on Thursdays so I fully expect to be completely exhausted by the end of the training period, however the actual job is only two days a week so that’ll be fine.

Disgraceful treatment of your daughter Alizarin. Hope you have very mild symptoms Scentia.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Jan-22 08:17:03

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1°. It's still quite dark, although day is peeping through. There are some clouds about but mainly clear skies.
Scentia how horrible for you. Would resting not be an option? Alizarin I'm incensed on your daughter's behalf! That's such unfair treatment. Definitely complain.
Yesterday was a pottering around day which I thoroughly enjoyed. Today I will visit mum, then pick up dgs1 from playgroup and bring him to grandma's house. He has demanded cake so there are crispy cakes in the tin. Then we will play til dd arrives to get him, after her doctor's appointment. Her blood pressure hasn't really gone down properly since she had pre eclampsia. The trouble is she is breast feeding and the medicine can cross over. We'll see what happens. I am looking forward to seeing my dgs and his wee brother. Have a good day all.

Good morning, all, from a dry but chilly Torbay with the promise of sunshine, like yesterday.

Pleased to hear that grandMattie’s son is safely home but sorry to hear of your DD’s experience, Alizarin. We understand that staff are under pressure due to Covid related absences but that’s no excuse for those who are there to be unhelpful. If no assistance could be provided, then prior notification should have been sent. Birmingham is difficult to navigate so I’m glad someone helped your DD.

Yesterday, an email from Torbay Council warned of staff shortages for recycling due to Covid but the lorry turned up as usual just now but with only one operative - the driver. Normally there would be three!

Yesterday, DH booked his return trip to France on €* for next Wednesday, preceded by a PCR test at Boots in Exeter. France requires this to be done within 24 hours of travel. He will be allowed in as his permanent address is there and he has a carte de sejour. Current restrictions prevent me visiting France.

Thoughts are with those with worries about loved ones, especially GrandmaSomerset. Take care of yourself, Scentia and you have been busy, Gingster, on your DD’s behalf! Well done!

Happy hump day! ?????

Alygran Wed 05-Jan-22 08:13:24

Good morning from North Yorkshire. There’s a clear blue sky just turning apricot where the sun will pop up soon.
I had a lovely walk at the arboretum yesterday but it was very cold just 2 degrees.
Meeting a friend for coffee this morning then helping another with packing this afternoon. She is decamping to a small cottage while building work goes on in her home.
Hope everyone has a good day. Thoughts especially to GS and others with ‘stuff’ to cope with.

Pittcity Wed 05-Jan-22 08:09:49

Good morning from frosty Colchester. Hopefully a cold, sunny winter's day...my favourite type.
Usual Wednesday coffee meetup in town this morning.
Love to all ? x

kittylester Wed 05-Jan-22 08:06:50

Good morning all from a frosty North Leicestershire.

The decorators should have started in our bedroom today but have had to delay due to the dreaded virus. Which means the carpet fitters have had to be put off, which means we have to sleep in the spare room for longer, which means I am really fed up!!

Urmstongran Wed 05-Jan-22 08:06:34

Mentioning books BlueSapphire you’ve just reminded me and I have downloaded our next book club read ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’ by Abi Daré onto my Kindle. I have more ‘busy doing nothing’ days out in Malaga than over here because we have absolutely no calls on our time. My Kindle is a great companion out there!
?

Jaxjacky Wed 05-Jan-22 08:05:06

Thinking of you Chrissielou?

MayBeMaw Wed 05-Jan-22 08:02:34

Good morning all from cold, dark, N Bucks.
Rosie’s opinion of the weather was to bolt upstairs as soon as she came in from the garden at 7, execute a handbrake turn on the landing and take a flying leap onto my bed.
Where she has remained tucked snugly into my side.
Now, not having seen anybody face to face for the last week other than meeting other dog walkers and we usually remain a dog’s lead length apart, any suggestions for why I have woken up sneezing and with a runny nose? (TMI I know) LFT time again? (sigh);
Film Studies this afternoon (Zoom) - The Invisible Woman, about Charles Dickens’s young lover. Still got to watch it so that’s this morning taken care of.
Loved the Matt, Urmstongran -start the day with a smile (and that gets it out of the way for the rest of the day)
Have the best day you all can!

brook2704 Wed 05-Jan-22 08:02:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve still got snow on the ground but a clear day is forecast today
That’s awful treatment of your DD alizarin I hope you get some resolution to your complaint
Yesterday I had good day putting away all the decorations and having a general tidy up. Today I’m off to the gym for a splash around at the Aqua class and then meeting a friend for coffee
Hope all goes well for your DD chrissielou
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Chrissielou Wed 05-Jan-22 07:58:45

A cold very frosty morning in Oxfordshire, hopefully we will have sunshine today. An anxious wait as DD1 is having further scans and investigations prior to treatment starting next week.

NannyJan53 Wed 05-Jan-22 07:57:45

Good morning from a rather icy and cold Black Country.

Received a phone call yesterday from audiology saying my new moulds are ready. So I am off this morning to have them fitted. Merry Hill shopping centre is nearby but I will give it a miss. Our u3a have gone back to zoom meetings.

Alizari that was shocking treatment of your daughter, no wonder you are angry!

Wishing you all a good day. with GrannySomerset in my thoughts.

BlueSapphire Wed 05-Jan-22 07:57:40

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, knew it was cold as I could hear the heating clicking on.

Have to venture out on the bus this morning as I have stuff to return to M&S and Next, and also an order to collect from Next. DD had.given me a jumper for Christmas but it is too big; I have a gift receipt for it, so will see if there is another one or if they will let me swap it. Also a couple of things I need from Boots and Sainsbury's. Then home, and put a paprika chicken in the slow cooker. Will probably carry on reading my new book this afternoon, but I have just remembered that I am planning on taking the decorations and tree down.

Had a good health walk yesterday afternoon; the rain had gone, and it was bright and sunny but chilly. It was good to see familiar faces again and enjoyed coffee and a chat afterwards.

Hoping for a good day for all.
