I’m in Nebraska with my family (going back tomorrow) and the temperature has been as low as -29c…. Now that’s cold…!!!!!

Kali2 Fri 07-Jan-22 14:03:00

The record in a Valley near is is minus 43.8c- so minus 29 is for sissies (lol- joking!).

no but my husband is installing the glass in our new greenhouse so I suspect we'll have a twister

None here in north Wiltshire, it’s drizzling and really cold.

MaizieD and Lilylaundry - do you live in the same Durham?? ??

The last time I saw heavy snow was in Durham - arrived late Friday evening and the Beast from the East arrived overnight. We woke up o six inches of snow.

I am on one of the hills outside Glasgow and we have about 3” of lying snow here. Went out to try to defrost the car the a layer about 3” thick has frozen onto all the windows and passenger door wont open at all. Gave up and delved into the freezer instead!

Rainy, cold and dismal in mid-Wiltshire. Must be nearly wine o’clock!

Very cold in West Oxfordshire but no snow.

Here in Cheshire, a layer of snow has settled and, according to the thermometer at my back door, the temperature is -2. ?

LucyW Fri 07-Jan-22 21:43:31

Light dusting here in sw Scotland and very icy. Not sure what the temperature is outside but my boiler is playing up and have had no hot water or central heating for two days now. 6 degrees downstairs and thankfully the wood burner has been on since I got home at 5.30 so the upstairs sitting room is warm. I can cope with the lack of heating but no hot water is a pain. Hopefully my so will be able to coax the boiler back to life tomorrow or Sunday. Will be wearing a fleecy hoodie in bed and the hood will be up tonight!
