Hi GrandmaDinosaur,
We’re Diamond Resorts members. Thurnham Hall is one of Diamond’s UK resorts. We’ve been a few times. It’s handy for walks along the Lancaster Canal, trips into Lancaster, Silverdale, Arnside and Carnforth. Also worth a visit - near Garstang if you don’t mind being indoors at the moment - The Flower Bowl leisure centre. Cinema, crazy golf, tenpin bowling, curling, golf simulator, restaurant. Have a nice break! ??

Grandmadinosaur Fri 07-Jan-22 15:59:18

TiggyW no we’re not members. It came up on a secret deals website. Have you been? First time for us.

TiggyW Fri 07-Jan-22 14:58:12

GrandmaDinosaur -
Hope you don’t mind my asking - are you a Diamond Resorts member?

Just thought I'd add that Urms flight is on time leaving Manch. at 16.30. So all well there. Expected arrival @ 20.25 Spanish time. I'll track it later, but promise I won't give a running commentary on the flight grin except to maybe mention that it's landed.

TanaMa Fri 07-Jan-22 13:00:40

Marydoll - Do you have a secret?I change my own watch batteries when I can get the back off to do it!! I have 2 cheap watches for everyday use but cannot get the backs off. Annoying as I have a card full of different size flat disc batteries.

Hello, Mick and all, from snowy North Lanarkshire.

I'm having a second day of 'taking it easy', doctor's orders, as I am having more problems with my HBP which was diagnosed in November. Since then I've had two face to face consultations with my GP which I greatly appreciate, another one next week.

Online Mass yesterday and today, instead of my usual driving/stewarding/ Covid cleaning church routine. I felt bad having to cancel with the frail lady I drive to Mass most mornings, but I'm too dizzy to drive just now.

Safe journey, Urms!

So, sending love and prayers for all who need/ wish them, especially GrannySomerset, Marydoll, Baubles, Ginny,Harrigran, forgive me if I've missed you, thinking of all with illness, worries or sorrow , and those with poorly loved ones

Keep cosy, don't go out unless you have to. ???

Maria59 Fri 07-Jan-22 11:57:15

Very late this morning I have GDS1 staying with me my days consist of morning walks board games and constantly cooking. 10 Yr old boys just never stop eating he told me last night that although he enjoyed take aways at the hospital he loved grandma's meals. DGS2 continues to make slow progress though he is fed up and wants to come home. The holiday period is over so hopefully full staff will speed up his rehabilitation. Thoughts are with all who have worries.

A late good morning to all and wishing you a Happy Friday. The sun is shining in Oxfordshire, but its cold too. Pleased it's the end of my working week, despite it being only 4 days, I'm tired, with lots happening at the moment especially with my poorly DD. Treatment is starting next week fir her, so more batch cooking and baking for me to do over the weekend to help her.
I hope the sun shines for you all today. sunshine

Blossoming Fri 07-Jan-22 11:05:52

Good morning Mick and everybody. At the moment it’s sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 4°C. Not much planned for today as I had a bad night due to an upset tum. I am now up and dressed but won’t be going out. The usual physio exercises and some cycling (indoors) later.

GrannySomerset thinking of you during this difficult time.

Safe journey Urmstongran you’ll soon be with the ????

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief.

Auntieflo Fri 07-Jan-22 11:03:50

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. I have had a busy admin morning so far, but hope all is now settled.
Then found an email, saying that the stair lift engineer is ill, so now someone is coming on Monday.
Have had to sort appointments for future blood tests and lifts to and from hospital appointments. The phone has been red hot.
I am due a phone call from one of the oncology teams shortly, and it's annoying when you get an announced call from an unknown, but you have to answer the phone, ghen they just ring off.
As our little Dr's surgery seems to be being used for vaccinations, we now have to go into town to the Medical Centre for injections and blood tests. We are lucky to have the facility, but it is just one more annoyance at this time.
Well done ro Alizarin for getting her shelves put up. I used to love all that sort of DIY, but the nearest I have got lately is unscrewing the bottom of the toaster to retrieve all the burnt on bits of crumpets that were too fat really to go in.
Thinking of GrannySomerset and sending a gentle hug. Also thoughts to Harrigran as she sorts out paperwork.
Marydoll here's hoping that you and your new consultant have as good a relationship as the last one.
Our GP is retiring and we shall miss him. I saw him last night and said that I hadn't expected that, and when was he retiring? He looked at his watch, and said "in about 20 minutes".
Have a good day one and all.

aggie Fri 07-Jan-22 10:33:29

Good Morning, it’s been snowing and sticking , hope it either stays crisp or disappears , I hate the slushy frozen slippy stage
Nothing to do today , the Christmas stuff is packed up , just needs a tall person to bung it in the store
Our local History Society had a great Zoom meeting last night on local artefacts found in the area , then a bit of chat after

Thoughts with GrannySomerset

I hope your journey to the Consultant goes well Marydoll , and he has the same empathy as your lovely last Doctor

Nannytopsy Fri 07-Jan-22 10:28:51

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
That’s a very sad tree Grammaretto! We were very impressed with ours and I did the pyromaniac thing in the garden when we took it out. They burn so brightly ?
Our old cat was very confused yesterday when he came home from the cattery but is much better today. Low blood sugar perhaps or dehydrated? He eats and drinks and awful lot at home.
?for Marydoll.
Must get moving - DGC overnight and then the pantomime tomorrow. We have been sorting stuff and their bedroom is a tip.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Kalu Fri 07-Jan-22 10:16:39

Good morning all from a snow covered Glasgow and it’s still falling!

Not the best conditions to drive through Glasgow, Marydoll.
I know your journey well and hope the motorway is clear enough for a smooth journey, there and back. Good luck seeing your new consultant who will hopefully give you a clear picture of what’s going on. ?
I have a 1pm blow dry appointment, thankfully any commuters into the city have cleared our roads and all is quiet again for my very short journey.

Bon Voyage Urms you lucky besom. ??
Thinking of you GrannySomerset ?
Bed is the best place to be as you don’t sound well at all Baubles. Take it easy, look after yourself and hopefully you will begin to feel better. Coorie down for the day with daft dug snuggled beside you.

Washing done and hanging on the pulley is the extent of my business so far today.

Best wishes for a good day all and a brighter day for those with worries and sadness.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jan-22 10:14:12

Right. I need to stop prevaricating and procrastinating On Here and step into the shower ...

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Oxfordshire, wet underfoot though after a very wet evening.
We went out for a curry last night! First time ‘out, out’ since last October, as we were so early, there was just our table, a few take aways were going out, so hopefully they will be able to survive until normality returns.
thoughts are with grannysomerset
Urmssafe travels.
Marydoll hopefully you arrived safely for your appointments, our Oxford hospital has us leaving an hour and a half before appointments for a 15 mile trip! And then we only just get there in time. Yet on a Sunday when MrOops went for a PCR test it took us 20 minutes.
Anyway, enjoy your day whatever it brings, we are helping MissOops to pack as she has secured the bungalow and can move out during the month, rather than have to move in one day.
? for those who aren’t so chipper.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jan-22 10:12:17

EV you couldn’t be a geek if you tried.
I think you’re marvellous they way you keep upbeat and busy on your own.
I thought your 5y old grandson was so sweet when he visited the other day, caring about you being alone.

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jan-22 10:05:40

Here is my poor tree.

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jan-22 10:03:28

Good morning from snowy Scotland. At least here in the Borders it is. I'm just back from the dentist. Just a checkup and scale and polish this time
Phew
Then I tackled my Christmas tree. I had to cut it up to extract the lights. Now I see why people have plastic trees
I hope your hospital appointment goes well Marydoll.
Poor Ginny with worries
Safe journey Urms I loved today's cartoon
Stay safe everyone. It's icy out there

EllanVannin Fri 07-Jan-22 10:03:08

Good Morning All x.
Flurries of sleet and hailstones here every now and again with a breeze whipping up making it feel colder.

I do need milk today after having been heavy handed with the macaroni cheese dish yesterday. As usual, I made enough for the " normal " family grin and ended up using a large Pyrex dish to fit it all in. I made short work of half of it so the other half will do me today. It was just delicious though although I say it myself. Baked and brown on top,yum !

Usual fish dinner will do tomorrow----then it'll throw me because I'll be thinking it's Friday . Days are the same for me anyway.

I'll be thinking of Marydoll today. You brave lady !
Also GrannySomerset and her sad situation.
ginny too with her worries.
Those who aren't feeling too clever as well. Hope the headache clears baubles , cold weather causes these.

Safe journey Urms and enjoy your stay. I might even track your flight if I remember. I'm not stalking, honest, as I do track flights now and again if I know someone is flying away.
3, or was it 4 years ago, I tracked D's flight from Oz when they were here visiting and also on their return. It's so interesting to pick out the countries that are flown over.
I've become a geek in my old age grin With this technology you're never bored.

My thoughts to all and have as good a day as you can. Stay safe and well with plenty of hot drinks/ food to keep body and soul together. xx

BlueSapphire Fri 07-Jan-22 09:55:35

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, with a frost on the summerhouse roof. A day at home and I plan on getting the duster out after taking down the decorations. Should have done it yesterday but ran out of time.

Started back at ballet yesterday afternoon; we have moved location to a freezing cold church hall, with no heating on, and a wide-open door. None of us managed to stay warm, so shall be wearing thermals and gloves next week! One advantage though; it has a lovely polished wood floor which makes some steps much easier.

Then in the evening to see West Side Story with a couple of friends. Really enjoyed it and the three of us were entranced by the glorious music. Some of it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. But we thought it was much darker than the original. I need to watch the original again.

Might have a look at the cinema website and see if there is anything good on this weekend.

Hope today goes well for all, especially Marydoll.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jan-22 09:43:24

I was quite out with my guess for our travel insurance! Good job I don’t do the household accounts.

It was £115 for the 2 of us, a 15 month policy.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Jan-22 09:36:54

Good morning from Durham. We had quite a bit of snow yesterday, but it’s gone now. DD2 has finally secured a face to face appointment with her GP - she’s been quite unwell since September, so I hope she can get some answers.
Parcel to post and getting 4 new tyres (and a hefty bill) this afternoon.
Hope our poorly and sad GNs have a better weekend.

GrannySomerset Fri 07-Jan-22 09:35:16

Another waiting day which is becoming very wearing. Will visit later but need to do some admin first - providing I can concentrate long enough.

Thinking of Marydoll and all those with a difficult day ahead. Bon voyage , Urmstongran, I look forward to some virtual sunshine soon.

Pittcity Fri 07-Jan-22 09:28:18

Good morning from a bright, dry Colchester.
I'm running late this morning having got bogged down with this and that first thing.
I'm expecting delivery of a dehumidifier this morning. Once that has arrived and is doing it's thing I'll take a walk to town to pick up bits that I couldn't get in Lidl yesterday.
I also have to do battle with Amazon as I suddenly can't buy Kindle books. I've phoned twice already but they can find nothing wrong.

Love to all ? x

Mapleleaf Fri 07-Jan-22 09:19:55

Good morning,

Mixed weather here this morning varying between sunshine to rain to sleety snow. One thing is certain, it’s chilly out there.

Had a busy day yesterday taking down the Christmas trees and putting all the baubles away, so the rooms are now back to normal. It always feels a bit drab once the trees with their bright lights are away, but I’ve got a few lamps back in the room that offer a nice, warm glow.

Those of you off on your travels, enjoy your holidays

? for all with worries and Ill health.

Take care everyone.
