dragonfly, don't do it!!!! I slept so badly in the spare room last night. grin

The view from our drive this morning- a bit of a worry if sheherds and sailors are to be believed.

dragonfly46 Mon 10-Jan-22 08:28:38

Good morning hoping it stays dry here as we are meeting friends for coffee in a hut outside. Not quite as bad as it sounds as it has a heater!

kitty you have inspired me and have decided to revamp my bedroom! Just waiting for my decorator to get back to me!

Hope every one has the best day possible!

Grandmajean Mon 10-Jan-22 08:26:57

Good morning all.
Good luck in the new job Baubles Exciting !
Not much on today. A few chores and a Morrison's delivery. Have given up on the wiping of everything.
Have a day which hopefully includes
flamingos

MayBeMaw Mon 10-Jan-22 08:25:11

Good morning all from N Bucks where I have been marvelling at a flaming sky-it was like “Gone With The Wind”
DPD have just delivered a big box of frozen dog food (Bella and Duke - other brands are available) but I just called down from the bedroom window to leave it on the doorstep. It won’t thaw out in this chilly weather.
I went to see West Side Story yesterday afternoon. There might have been another 8 people in the cinema!
It was very well done but I have mixed feelings about it, probably because both the stage musical which I saw in Edinburgh in the mid-60’s and the original film about the same time, left such an impression on me.
Superb photography and some wonderful dancing but I did not entirely buy into Spielberg’s big screen realism for what is essentially a musical necessitating an element of suspended disbelief.
Stunning photography though and nobody can ever detract from Bernstein’s amazing score. Not sure about Tony’s voice in the upper registers but the girl who played Maria had a wonderful voice, hitting notes I hardly knew existed.
There was a neat ironic touch in the “slum clearance” of the neighbourhood where the Jets and Sharks lived and fought, being earmarked for the Lincoln (Arts) Center.
Todays excitement is having a “blown” window in the spare bedroom replaced. Life in the fast lane at Broon Towers!
Wishing you all a gentle day. flowers

Good morning from North Wales. I need to get out for my walk soon due to weight gain over last few weeks. I try to tell myself the scales are telling lies but it's not working.
Sorry MaryDoll is not well and has worries about her daughter.
Have a good Monday everyone and thoughts for Grannysomerset and all who have troubles ?

Chris3 Mon 10-Jan-22 08:22:29

Good morning from a dry and still South Yorkshire. Spectacular sunrise this morning which has suddenly totally disappeared behind grey cloud but it was nice while it lasted. Monday walkers for us today only around 4 mile I think then grandchildren after school until 5pm. Marydoll hope you feel better soon and no more disasters occur today. Have a good day everyone.

ginny Mon 10-Jan-22 08:20:36

Good morning.
I’m am staying home today. I have a cold( neg. Covid tests). So will crack on with some craft projects.

Condolences to Grannysomerset?
Hope Marydoll has a better day.
Thinking of all with troubles or pain and hoping you can find a smile in your day.

brook2704 Mon 10-Jan-22 08:13:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s wet and windy, a bit milder though so all the frost and rain has gone
Hope today goes well in your new job Baubles!
Lovely picture Alizarin thanks for sharing
Yesterday DD2 messaged at the last minute asking is we could meet up so although I hadn’t planned to go out I did. It always happens like that so it was a very quick change of clothes and some make up on and I was out. Always good to be asked though so I don’t mind. Today I’m off to the gym for my usual splash around at the Aqua class and we’re on standby to pick up the DGC if needed later.
Well done with the walking nannyjan it sounds good but tiring! I really must get back into the walking soon too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Susan56 Mon 10-Jan-22 08:12:40

Urms, just Mondays in term time so not too bad.Have to say though can’t believe it’s only 8 o’clock, am ready for bed already?

Georgesgran Mon 10-Jan-22 08:07:50

Good morning from Durham where it’s still not light enough to comment on the weather.
Felt dizzy first thing, so still lying down, but having a man with a van coming to take away a pine wardrobe and matching toddler bed this morning, then a dental appointment this afternoon.
A mixed bag on this thread today. Best wishes to all.

NannyJan53 Mon 10-Jan-22 08:05:57

Good luck in your new job baubles I hope it goes well this first week.

Ashcombe I walk with a group on Mondays and our leader chooses the route and venue, it is usually around 5 miles but now and then it is 6 or 7. Last time we did 7 miles I had to have a nap in the afternoon! smile

grandMattie Mon 10-Jan-22 08:05:05

Ash, DS had his pins removed on Wednesday, I think. They were very keen to do so. He still needs to wear the splint though as the bone hasn’t completely healed. Just as well he had the extra 2 weeks then! He says his hand feels very weak. I suggested that he shouldn’t do too much…

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jan-22 07:59:12

4:30am Susan56? Give that woman a medal ?‼️ Above & beyond the call of duty I’d say.
?

Love the photo of your granddaughter Alazarin she looks so pretty standing there in her pink hat and coat. Good luck baubles it’s never easy being the ‘new girl’ you’ll be shattered tonight!

Marydoll Mon 10-Jan-22 07:57:01

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 3°C,

What a sweet picture Alizerin. That was good that you managed to speak to your son, GM, reassuring to see he is home safely.

Yesterday's plan to pamper myself went pear shaped, when at 9.30am DD arrived. I called to her to just come up and chat, as I wasn't too good. Unfortunately, she had hurt her knee and couldn't manage the stairs.
Up I got to have a look. By the time she left, she was supplied with a heat bag, a tubigrip, Ibruprofen gel and homeopathic cream, toffee apple crumble etc., etc. Thank goodness we have a pharmacy and food outlet here! It was too much effort to go back to bed, so I became a couch potato for the day!

I am beginning to suspect that DD may have RA, like other members of my extended family, my mother, aunts, uncles and cousins all suffer from various autoimmune conditions.
For years she has been suffering from painful hands, but is stubbornly and foolishly, refusing to see a GP. sad

No plans again for today, I'm feel awful, the dizzy spells are becoming worse, but hopefully will pass. However, I do have one task, clean the kitchen.
Last night, having hardly eating all day, I had a notion for a Scottish potato scone and butter, made from the leftovers from DH's turkey feast.
I reached up to get a bag of flour from a high shelf, it flew out of my useless hands and burst wide open. Myself, including my sewing machine, which has been up for days, awaiting procrastinated, hem alterations, was also covered in flour! Did I mention that the washing machine, tumble dryer and Ninja had changed colour from black to white?
To add to that, the glass flour sifter also suffered annihilation! ?
DH did some emergency tidying up, but it will need a proper cleaning up today.

Thinking of GrannySomerset, read in The Kitchen, that her family have rallied round, which is comforting.

Good luck for today, Baubles, I hope all goes well and best wishes to all on here and their families who have sorrow and worries. ?
Apologies if I don't mention by name, but RA brain fog has made it difficult for me to keep track at the moment.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 10-Jan-22 07:55:31

Good morning all from dark Harrogate.
Yesterday we took DGS to soft play. It was the right thing to do. He scrambled round using so much energy, then had a rest in the sensory room, recharging his batteries and off to the soft play area again. One small area was for football and basketball- he was quite adept at getting the ball in the net and in the goal. Can see him being in demand when he’s older.
Today is my chatty day- catching up with telephone calls to my school Bestie and my sisters, with housework in between.
Thinking of those who might be feeling down.
Have the best day possible

Alygran Mon 10-Jan-22 07:54:35

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s still dark but with a slight glow beginning on the horizon.
Charity parent group starts this morning in Richmond. Afterwards I may go for a walk round the castle and along the river.
Good luck with your new job Baubles.
I recorded the ballet Ash. Will watch later this week.
Sending good wishes to all who are struggling or poorly.
Have a good day everyone.

Susan56 Mon 10-Jan-22 07:51:06

Good morning from Staffordshire. The start of a new term so back to our regular term time childcare.A bit of a shock when the alarm went off at 4.30?

We had a good visit with my mum yesterday.DGS kept her entertained!

Today we will go to indoor soft play so long as it’s not too busy.DGS always finds someone to play with.

Hoping you are feeling better Mary and that the after effects of the steroid injection are lessening???

Thoughts with GrannySomerset?and all with worries and struggles??

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jan-22 07:48:26

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s very windy out! The palm trees in the gardens are dancing furiously. What’s it like up there near you Pantsglas? The sun’s up though. If it calms down I think we will go for a good long walk this afternoon as we did nothing yesterday!

Our friends from Bolton who also have an apartment here fly in this evening. The missus will be joining me at LWW tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to. Himself will enjoy ? ? with her husband in Pedro’s while we are gone.

Himself tells me Man. Utd are on tv tonight. Oh joy. All the more reason to do something or eat somewhere this afternoon!

No Matt because it’s Monday. Enjoy the day all who can. x

Grandmadinosaur Mon 10-Jan-22 07:43:13

Good luck in your new job Baubles

Grandmadinosaur Mon 10-Jan-22 07:42:35

I have just re read my post and was alarmed that I have spelt sea the wrong way. I hope it was predictive text. ?‍♂️

Jaxjacky Mon 10-Jan-22 07:39:21

Enjoy your first day baubles ?

Ashcombe Mon 10-Jan-22 07:34:52

Good morning, all, from a calm and dry Torbay.

Lovely photo, Alizarin! The abandoned wellies add a poignancy to the picture. I echo your comment about Mick, Jaxjacky and we smiled at yours re. wearing a crown, grandMattie! Will your son have the pins removed from his hand when isolation is over? I hope your DD's appointment goes well, Gingster.

Last night we watched The Red Shoes (ballet) on BBC4, which we saw on stage in 2019. It was followed by a documentary entitled Men at the Barre. I’d recommend both to those interested in ballet. They should be available on iPlayer.

My ‘Move It Or Lose It’ class restarts today. I'm sure our lovely teacher will be kind! Enjoy your walks, those who will be doing so - your planned distance is impressive, NannyJan53!

Have a good week, everyone!
?????

baubles Mon 10-Jan-22 07:25:04

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Feeling stronger which is good as I’m starting my new job today and I’m quite excited about it.

I hope everyone who’s been unwell is a little bit better today.

I’ll catch up with the comings and goings later.

Have a good day. ?

Scentia Mon 10-Jan-22 07:18:56

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and feels mild.
I am still very feintly positive this morning but on a more positive note my leg feels ok after my day of rest yesterday. I will be popping into the factory today to do some deliveries and then we will come home instead of heating the factory and doing nothing! I am still going to have the GC tomorrow but will not take them anywhere as DD really needs to be back at work. I will need two negatives to be out of ‘isolation’ I bet it changes today to 5 days later today.
Take care everyone and stay safe and warm❤️

Gingster Mon 10-Jan-22 07:18:00

Good morning all from a very dark and cold Essex.
How I long to be at my seaside cottage, seeing the sunrise and watching the waves. So relaxing and peaceful!

Today I will do the school runs with little GD, Dh will take DD to the hospital AGAIN! This time to see the Plastic Surgeon.

This afternoon little pooch will have her yearly check and booster.

I’ll miss my first Chiming session of the year, which is sad because it’s so uplifting. Never mind - onwards and upwards!

Twin gs’s (15) went on the train to watch the West Ham game (2 0 to WH) and had ‘the best day ever’. It’s the first time they’ve e been just with friends and no adult. After watching the Hillsborough drama last week, I was a little worried about them ?. Oh dear if it’s not one (or two) to worry over, it’s another!

Love and best wishes to all ❤️
