I can recommend the Fitsteps class Allsorts if you like dancing about to music. The steps are easy to learn and where I go no one takes themselves too seriously so it doesn’t matter if you go wrong, which I often do. No need for a partner either you just dance away on your own and have fun!
Thanks for the heads up maw it’s always good to know about possible complications

Wishing Iris and her family good news and successful surgery - what an anxiety for them all. And hoping for better news for Marydoll who is having such a tough time.

Can register DH’s death tomorrow and start on the essential admin. We still don’t have a funeral date but expect to know soon. I shall soon have lists of my lists at this rate. Meanwhile I am surrounded by cards and flowers and affectionate memories of DH from so many sources which is an enormous help.

Good Day , bit late again ,
It’s lovely and sunny now , I did a 10 min brisk walk round the garden , it took several circuits as the garden isn’t that big , but it was in the open air and I used my stick instead of my Walker so a bit of exercise , better to use the dry days when they happen
I have been turning down the thermostats in view of the rising prices , we have oil heating and it use Electricity to pump the hot water round the underfloor pipes .

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. We were very late up this morning, after binge watching a programme that started off OK, but got soppier as it went on.
Still, things to be done, and the morning is almost over.
My ASUS tablet died yesterday and I don't know whether to replace it, or just make do with my trusty old iPad. Any suggestions welcome.
MAW, I saw something a out a young boy recently, he was about 5 or 6. who had had a Covid reaction and his eye had closed completely. He also needed emergency treatment. So definitely something to be aware of.
Time to go back and read all the posts properly.
Have a good day one and all.

LauraNorderr Tue 11-Jan-22 10:55:50

I wouldn’t worry too much Jax. Although a great worry for his parents I’m sure that the unfortunate young man is the exception and not the rule.
My eighteen year old grandson has tested positive this week for the third time. Summer 2020, spring 2021 and now. Mild symptoms previously. He has no symptoms this time and only found out because he has to do daily tests for his workplace.
Good to share Maw so that we’re all cautious but also good to know that most will be okay.

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Jan-22 10:31:46

Maw Hopefully my son will be ok.

Grammaretto Tue 11-Jan-22 10:27:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is mild with a pale winter sun.
I am about to go for a walk to a place I have never been before.

I was very sad to read about poor little Iris, grandMattie. I only hope the operation is successful ?? ??

Grannysomerset I wish you strength and good friends around you.

Have a lovely day everybody.

MayBeMaw Tue 11-Jan-22 10:27:16

Good morning all - actually I’ve been awake for hours, but deep in a Georgette Heyer!
I’m going to put this out here to avoid being accused of “doom scrolling” elsewhere as I can only take so many patronising put-downs.
A friend’s son (in his 20’s) was rushed into hospital yesterday with post-Covid complications. He and his parents with whom he lives have all just had Covid for the second tine and contrary to most anecdotal evidence, much worse than the first time.
She has just emailed me to say he has had an emergency eye op and to warn anybody who develops conjunctivitis after Covid, to seek immediate help as the normal treatment doesn’t work and could result in blindness.
A useful warning I hope.

Good Morning All x.
Not a bad start, weatherwise. Bright and mild----we've done well so far really considering that this loooong month can be a treacherous one.

Feet soaking in footbowl as I type, in readiness to trim the hooves, a monthly session which I religiously adhere to in order to keep the feet in walking order. Because I've got no " middle " I'm able to manage this procedure reasonably well smile

Sorry to hear about Iris's pain grandMattie , she'd been doing so well, poor child. Bone pain is chronic too sad Hoping that she can have some relief after surgery. x.

Hoping too that Marydoll has an easier day than of late. It makes me feel so fortunate that in all the years I've never had to endure a serious illness/ disability and don't feel that much different from year to year.

GrandmaJan reminded me of some photo's that D in Oz emailed me a couple of weeks ago on ancestry. It was amazing that nearly 200 years ago, a child should have the same features as one today. It was of my late pa-in-law's father's children where one of them looks like my stepdaughter when she was a little girl. The woman who'd sent the pic to D shares the same great-grandfather.

Last of the lamb to see to today, so I'll mince it and make some burgers for dinner and that's today sorted. I don't know what I was thinking about buying such an enormous leg of lamb to start with grin I'll never larn ( sic )

That's the life, Urms, how lovely. It has to do you good !
If I close my eyes I can pretend I'm paddling, while my feet are soaking grin

Yours is nearly over now Pantglas so have a safe journey back.

Everyone else, enjoy your day stay safe and well xx

Ooooh, the sun's just come out, yippee. I might muster up the oomph to wipe around the windows.

LauraNorderr Tue 11-Jan-22 10:10:23

Good morning Mick and all from a bright ant dry Anglesey. Still a bit chilly but no wind so a walk is on the cards.
It looks as though I’ll be up early tomorrow to vacuum the red carpet for Pant.
I’m so sorry to hear that our little inspirational Iris is in such pain grandMattie. I think we’ve all taken her in to our hearts and wish her well.
Hope your son and his girlfriend sail through their covid experience with few symptoms Jax and the same for any others going through it.
Happy swimming Beechnut, an exercise that always seems to exhilarate.
Thinking of course of GrannySomerset so much to deal with and a whirl of emotions.
Hoping for a better day for all, keep a look out for that random pink flamingo, that moment of joy to appreciate.
??????

Good morning from West Kent, overcast and damp. Off this morning to collect DH's new glasses, just looking forward to a drive out. Best wishes to all and thinking of Iris.

hollysteers Tue 11-Jan-22 09:55:19

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Travelled south last Thursday for my brother in law’s funeral, sharing the driving with my DS. DD did a reading and The Lord Bless you and keep you arranged by Rutter always moves me. He wanted to be buried in the family grave here, so that will happen at the end of the month when my husband’s ashes from five years ago will join him.
Off to music club this afternoon and the painting of the porch doors continues, a big improvement.
Thoughts to GrannySomerset and hope you all have a good day.

mamaa Tue 11-Jan-22 09:43:59

Morning! Another grey Jan morning here on the East Anglian coast.
I'm with Maw and think that January is for hibernation-apart from if you've special celebration days within it of course!
Sending best wishes to Iris and anyone else who might like some. [flower]

After my mum died in November we were advised that 3 death certificates would be enough, which they were as those who needed to see them did so and then handed them back; and the 'Tell Us Once' govt site was very good and made thing so much easier than it was when my Dad died 17 years ago.

Kalu Tue 11-Jan-22 09:12:02

Good morning all, a mild dry day in Glasgow which will give me a chance to check out the garden, hoping to see some evidence of spring bulbs showing.

Waitrose shop today and a visit to the post office to return a sweater I’m not too impressed with plus send a birthday card to DD2 in Australia.

I am so sorry to hear Iris will have to undergo such a major surgery GrandM. Poor little girl has been through so much in her young life.
Hoping you feel some improvement today Marydoll?
Safe journey home Pants. Please bring some sunshine back for us.
Thinking of you GrannySomerset and sending you some strength to get through difficult days.

Best wishes to all for a good day, especially those who are feeling low due to whatever is troubling you.

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Jan-22 09:06:20

Son just rang, he and his gf have Covid, haven’t seen them for 8 days, but will test.

monk08 Tue 11-Jan-22 08:53:11

Good morning all from a dull and damp Black country.
Sorry to hear Iris needs another operation GM.
NannyJan I spent yesterday evening on family history looking at 1921 census unfortunately the answers looking for not found will keep trying.
Some ironing needs doing but I think a trip to the garden centre first and have a walk round their lake and feed the fish.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Chrissielou Tue 11-Jan-22 08:50:32

A damp and dreary day in Oxfordshire, not as cold but so grey. A normal busy working day for me, lots of online meetings and prep to do. I'm happy working from home and don't miss the commute.
Hope you all have a good day.

Nannytopsy Tue 11-Jan-22 08:46:07

You have got Spain sorted Urms ! Your messages are making me yearn for sunshine, warmth and sea.
Best wishes for Iris.

Good morning all from dry Harrogate
Yesterday I had the company of small DGD. For a while after school. Today I shall make another attempt to go to Knaresborough. This time in the car.
Poor Iris she has had such a lot to contend with in her short life.
Make the most of the sun today pant you won’t get much here for a while! Safe journey!
Have the best day you can folks!

Sar53 Tue 11-Jan-22 08:41:41

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is dry and slightly warmer than of late.
No plans again today apart from making a cheese and onion pie for dinner.
I'm sorry to hear that Iris has to have more surgery GM, my very best wishes to her.
Enjoy Tuesday whatever you may get up to xx

Anniebach Tue 11-Jan-22 08:41:35

Good morning from dull, damp Shropshire.

A small to do list today so hopefully a relaxing afternoon reading.I am a morning person too, my husband is definitely not!I am winding down as he gets going. It took a bit of getting used to when we first retired but seems to work well for us now??

I’m so sorry Iris is in such pain grandMattie and that she has to have another long operation.Keeping her and all your family in our thoughts and prayers?

Hoping Mary is starting to feel better and managed a restful day yesterday?

Thinking of GrannySomerset and all with sadness, worries and struggles??

Urmstongran Tue 11-Jan-22 08:36:20

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s forecast sunshine with white cloud and a temperature of 17°C. Hmm. The rest of this week seems similar. Never mind it’s Tuesday = Ladies Who Wine afternoon. Yay!
???

We meet at 2pm and I’ll be walking over to the little bar with my friend from Bolton and another lady who is out here on a two month stay. She is lovely. She’s 81y and her husband died last year. She misses him terribly as she says they did everything together during retirement. She’s an avid book reader so we always swap recommendations when we meet up!

Prior to that I’ve booked a wash and blow at the salon outside the door (handy!). Laura the owner is Spanish. She only uses Vidal Sassoon products and I come out with my hair smelling and looking wonderful. My appointment is timed so that I just leave the salon, pop on my sunglasses and say to my friends “fancy a drink?”
?

Enjoy Tuesday all who can. Here’s Matt. x

Good morning everyone from a dismal wet Northampton. Supposed to go on a health walk this afternoon, but shall wait and see if it dries up a bit.

Have some washing to sort out this morning, but no other jobs in desperate need of doing, so hope to start a new book - a novel set around the Greek heroine Ariadne.

Sorry to hear about Iris, hope the operation next month makes a difference.

Wishes to all for a pleasant day.
