six tries at getting the word right..... just one word a day...if the letter turns grey it is not in the word..... etc.

Got it! But only on the last attempt. And I was a bit disappointed to find it was an American spelling.
I'll try it again tomorrow, I like word games.

I would never have got it because I didn't even think of American spellings.

Just start by entering any 5 letter word and the colour coding will tell you whether you have any letters in the right place (green), wrong place (brown) or not there at all (grey).
Then use elimination and your knowledge of English to work out the right word. Unfortunately today’s answer was an Americanism! ??

haven`t read all the posts, cos
I admit it,

I don`t even understand what I am supposed to do!

Managed it in 5 today.

I’m hooked as well ….today, I was ‘impressive’

auntiejantie Wed 12-Jan-22 17:06:27

It took me to the 6th word to get it today. I've complained to the website as there must be enough 5 letter words in the English language that don't have both American and British spelling.

Got in 6 but disappointed to find that the game favors American spelling

Nannytopsy Wed 12-Jan-22 16:41:54

I was really cross with the American spelling today! Well, I know now for next time.

Fudgemonkey Wed 12-Jan-22 16:36:14

First timer, brain won't work ?

alisonsmith4 Wed 12-Jan-22 16:35:04

Definitely hooked. First thing I do every morning. It’s brilliant!

catladyuk Wed 12-Jan-22 16:17:07

no chance of getting it when they use american spellings, i.e. favor!!

tanith Wed 12-Jan-22 16:02:47

Got it in 4 today.

gma Wed 12-Jan-22 15:34:53

Just discovered WORDLE! Got it in 3! All depends on random word which you enter to start with! Is there any way you can discover the daily word if you fail to get it ?

chrissy08 Wed 12-Jan-22 15:08:46

6 today, my whole family play, we share results. Love it.

ixion Wed 12-Jan-22 15:04:09

Well, thank you for that blueberry1?
Needn't bother to try a brain work out...

GrammaH Wed 12-Jan-22 15:02:49

Just tried it after the great write up from everyone. Hadn't got to the ones about it being American so it took me 4 goes to get today's but I can see I'll get hooked, just my sort of thing.

nahsme it was definitely American spelling with one letter less than would be in English spelling so I m not sure what one you are doing

Lewie Wed 12-Jan-22 14:13:49

I tried it for the first time today, and I got it in four. I wasn't surprised at the Amercian spelling as I am also addicted to Wordscapes on my phone which also uses American spellings.

MaggsMcG Wed 12-Jan-22 14:11:11

Did it for first time yesterday now I can't find it smile

Secondwind Wed 12-Jan-22 14:04:37

I do and I love it!

Wheniwasyourage Wed 12-Jan-22 13:53:21

Didn't get it today (no surprise there after getting 2 yesterday!) as even after suspecting American spelling I went for the wrong word. If you don't get it, knspol, the answer does come up after your last try so you're not left wondering. smile

CountryMouse22 Wed 12-Jan-22 13:50:32

Got nowhere and gave up!

So everyone has the same word world over with an American spelling..

Yes. It's like newspaper crosswords, everybody gets the same one.
