six tries at getting the word right..... just one word a day...if the letter turns grey it is not in the word..... etc.

HurdyGurdy

TillyTrotter

It looks like this HurdyGurdy but initially all tiles will be blank and the “keyboard” will be below. You try typing 5 letters and see if any are in the word (the tiles will change colour).
Does what you found resemble this?

Thank you TillyTrotter. No, the one I downloaded was nothing like that. I've deleted it now, as it's obviously not the right one, and will use the one you showed. smile

The one I found looked nothing like that either; I got some words but couldn't find out if they were right or wrong so thought I must be unbelievably thick ?

Thanks lemsip I'm hooked now!

Good job there's only one a day... grin

Thanks for the introduction to this. Got it in 4. Looking forward tomorrow and hope I've not used up all my beginners luck.

Just wondering if one each day is a lure.

Oldbat1 Tue 11-Jan-22 19:45:04

Just did it! 4 goes. Will try again tomorrow.

Zoejory Tue 11-Jan-22 19:44:05

What fun! Not seen this before. I got it in 4

CanadianGran Tue 11-Jan-22 19:39:34

Thanks for the suggestion; I tried and got it in 3! I will bookmark this for fun.

Maggiemaybe Tue 11-Jan-22 19:25:36

Four in 4 moves, that should say.

Maggiemaybe Tue 11-Jan-22 19:24:46

I love it, especially as it’s just one word a day so it isn’t going to take over all my free time as Tetris once did. I’ve done 5 so far, three in 4 moves, and today’s in 3.

As fourormore says, it’s really ITV’s Lingo without the time pressures.

Kim19 Tue 11-Jan-22 19:14:28

Thanks L, rather enjoyed that. One a day is somewhat frustrating though.

rosie1959 Tue 11-Jan-22 19:06:19

Enjoyed that got it in 4 and I can’t spell

busybeejay Tue 11-Jan-22 19:03:17

I put in “steam “ as my first word.Contains the most used letters

Nannytopsy Tue 11-Jan-22 18:55:08

It isn’t an app. I made that mistake and they have all cottoned on to the name. It’s a website - click on the link given earlier.

mokryna Tue 11-Jan-22 17:49:35

Didn’t understand it at first but I’m pleased with myself, got it in in four. Thanks for mentioning it.

TillyTrotter Tue 11-Jan-22 17:27:52

No worries Fanny ?

Is it not Fanny? I followed lemsip ‘s link ?

I’m so sorry, Tilly you are right of course.
I got confused with the other screen shots / quoted posts etc blush

TillyTrotter Tue 11-Jan-22 17:07:46

Is it not Fanny? I followed lemsip ‘s link ?

FannyCornforth Tue 11-Jan-22 16:59:59

Aveline are you pressing enter?
All the tiles start off pale grey, and then go darker grey if they are eliminated

Aveline Tue 11-Jan-22 16:24:15

I've been through the whole alphabet and the tiles all stay grey! Must be doing something wrong

fourormore Tue 11-Jan-22 16:07:50

There is a TV programme called LINGO on ITV around 3pm Mon to Fri which is along the same lines and really stretches the brain! Four and five letter words mainly.

It's amazing how many words consist of four or five letters but one particular letter can be one of so many possible letters. I don't think that makes sense but it's hard to describe!

A word like S O ? E for example could be Sole, Some, Sore,
Thank you lemsip for telling us about 'Wordle' - I too have bookmarked it!

kittylester Tue 11-Jan-22 15:30:38

We've been doing it for a couple of weeks and share the results on our family WhatsApp thread.

It isn't an app hurdygurdy. I just type it in Google every morning.

FannyCornforth Tue 11-Jan-22 15:27:04

It isn’t available as an app, it’s web based

FannyCornforth Tue 11-Jan-22 15:25:59

TillyTrotter sorry, it isn’t the one that you have shown

FannyCornforth Tue 11-Jan-22 15:24:25

Well done*Alygran*!
I’m properly impressed !
