Hello kitcheners. Soup on the side, scotch broth. Crusty brown bread and Pres** butter.
I need a nap as the wind howled and screamed all night giving me the heebie jeebies. Soop What a delight to hear that you have a date. Look after yourself carefully. ?

Dearest you lovely lot. I am sorry to hear about power cuts and disruptions galore. Although we have had the strongest winds howling outside our home, we have escaped the buggerations that some of you are dealing with. Stay strong.

Feelingmyage Mr Soop also had difficulty sleeping. He said that the wind sounded like an express train travelling through an endless tunnel.

A major senior moment to report. Bloods were taken okay in readiness for the infusion at a nearby hospital later this week. We then checked details of admission to Ross Hall for surgery. Registration stuff arrived today. All well on that score. However the pre-op assessment is scheduled NOT for this Wednesday but the following week, just a couple of days prior to admission. shock Imagine if we had journeyed the umpteen miles to Glasgow to be told that we were a week too soon. hmm

I have started the early spring clean. The easel, paints and such, have been stored out of sight. Mr Soop says that it looks "far too tidy." grin

anno That tennis final was beyond exciting. I screamed and cheered and hid behind a cushion. Rafa is a brilliant athlete and a super, well-mannered guy who deserved his amazing achievement. Roger Federa and Rafa are my two absolute favourites.

Sue Bless you. You have been through so much upheaval. I am sending you and all other Granspals suffering the distress of the having to seek alternative accommodation my heartfelt good wishes for a speedy resolution. I cannot imagine how someone living alone, without family support, must be managing to cope. flowers

soop Mon 31-Jan-22 17:27:23

And still the wind continues to howl...I think that it's time to log off and enjoy a brew.

Until we meet again, all good wishes that the stresses and strains many of you are coping with, may ease.

Hello Kitcheners. Spoiling you all today. A plate of tiffin awaits.

Grandmabatty What a veritable feast and a half. A trio of brûlées would be my ultimate dessert. I do hope the weather calms down for many of you. My??for your GS Yiayia4. Does he have long to wait until they go? Looking forward to seeing your diamond art again soon.

Grandmabatty Mon 31-Jan-22 18:43:43

Good evening Kitcheners. Soop getting closer. Fingers crossed ?. Muse creme brulee is my favourite dessert too and three of them? Beyond happiness. Speaking of which, dd asked if I wanted to walk round with her to pick up dgs1 from playgroup. I had my coat on before she arrived! He was so happy to see me, it melted my heart. They stayed for three hours. I fed and cuddled dgs2 and played with dgs1 for ages. We hid on my bed from crocodiles, became lions. I had to make baby shark out of playdough, peel stickers for him and only grandma could run races and take him for a pee. I am so lucky to spend time with them. Tomorrow I intend to read up on drawing with pastels as I received some at Christmas and my art class starts back on Wednesday. I also made leek and potato soup and chocolate and peanut butter cakes so I'll leave some for you. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I too slept poorly thanks to the howling gale, but we awoke to calm blue skies this morning and no damage reports locally. I fear “too tidy” is not something that can be said about my surroundings right now, but I’m halfway through sorting and disposing of yet another mountain of paperwork from my working life.

Hope you all have a peaceful night, wherever you are, and services are soon restored.

Goodnight, TOYA

Love the doggie picture Soop, I bet the owner is thrilled with it.
Thank you for greeting David, he must think we`ve deserted him, we haven`t been up there since April 2018, but I`m dependant on someone bringing me, and they`re all so busy with their jobs and families.
Your date is getting closer, I will be thinking of you xx

‘Evening All’

We’ve just enjoyed a meal of lamb steaks with veg. We met up with friends late this afternoon in the bar downstairs. It was lovely to see them and a couple of hours passed too quickly. We’ve made arrangements to see them again soon.

A mug of Horlicks for me in half an hour then an early night. I was ages going off to sleep last night with those high winds, I’ve a feeling I shall drift off tonight no problem!
?

Jaxjacky Mon 31-Jan-22 21:39:13

Into February tomorrow soop, THE month for you.
A feast of food tonight, thank you Feelingmyage muse and Grandmabatty lovely supper awaits.
Hardly a breeze here down south, I hope all you ‘windyed out’ people all sleep like babies tonight and Sue, back home as soon as it’s feasible.
An uneventful day, which often is good, busier tomorrow, sometimes a day of not much is restful.
Take care all xx

maddyone Mon 31-Jan-22 23:49:19

Evening everyone.
Today we went for a walk along the seafront, and we came upon a bag, just left on a seat. After deciding it wasn’t a bomb, we inspected it because we knew someone would be distraught after losing it. It had a lot of baby things in it, bottles, nappies etc. We were unsure what to do. We felt that had we left it there the owner might have come back to find it, but on the other hand, we felt someone may very well steal it. We had a good look to see if there was name, phone number, address, anything to tell where to take it. There was a name and a library card, also an NHS identity card, and a lot of other stuff, including bank cards. We decided to take it to the nearest Police Station only to discover it was no more, permanently closed. We were looking as we walked for a mother with a pram, and accosted one or two, but they didn’t own it. One suggested handing it in at the local library, which we did but the librarian seemed disinterested. She did find the library card and say she’d look in the files for the owner. As we left my husband said he didn’t feel that the librarian was much interested and he felt we should ring the police, which we did. We gave all the details including the name and we felt they were interested and will try to find the owner. Tonight I looked on Facebook and I found the lady on there, and so I messaged her, but no reply as yet. My husband said she could possibly think my message was some sort of scam and she might be afraid to engage. I really hope she gets united with her bag, one way or another. I know how upset I was when I lost my bag once, and how grateful I felt when I was reunited with it.

soop Tue 01-Feb-22 12:52:57

maddyone How intriguing. Please update us lot. I hope that the owner and her property have a happy reunion.

Away to clean the kitchen cupboards. Not going far. I shall return a little later for catch-up. smile

brook2704 Tue 01-Feb-22 12:57:35

Oh I do hope the bag and their owner are reunited maddy you’ve done everything you can to help
I’ve just finished my Fitsteps dance class followed by a coffee with the ladies afterwards, such a friendly bunch and we all get along well
A bit of shopping this afternoon and then home to see what DH is up to …

cornergran Tue 01-Feb-22 13:31:16

You couldn't have done more maddy. The unfinished nature does leave a sense of being unsettled I think.

We had a similar experience when we found a phone (locked), the case included an identity card indicating the owner wasn't originally from the UK, a bank card and some cash. The bank involved wouldn't speak to us. We took it to the local police point in a library. No contact with the police was permitted, it felt really risky leaving it with the general receptionist, at our insistence she did give us a receipt, there was no feedback so we've no idea if it was reunited with its owner. Odd times I think.

It's a calm day here, sun is out, hope those of you further north aren't too badly impacted by the storms.

We've been out so Mr C could have a much needed haircut, sorted an irritant with the car. I've sorted the grocery order, next on the list is a phone call from our very anxious and stressed goddaughter. If anyone has a magic wand place send it my way, I think its the only thing that would fix her issues.

Charleygirl5 Tue 01-Feb-22 14:19:05

soop please just wipe over the worktop surfaces- the cupboard innards will be there when you return and round mid-summer you will feel hopefully it is a task you can tackle. I do not want you over exerting yourself during the next 2 weeks or less.
TOYA

brook2704 Tue 01-Feb-22 15:28:25

Sorry to hear about your goddaughters troubles corner I hope things improve for her soon. I’m sure that your listening ear helps her more than you realise
Totally agree with Charley, why not take it easy soop between now and your op so you’re fully rested and in tip top condition for all that lies ahead

Blossoming Tue 01-Feb-22 15:44:25

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Just in from a walk, it’s dry but there’s a cold wind blowing straight up the river. Not as fierce as recent days though. My little snowdrops are poking through, there are more at the bottom of the garden but Mr. B is working out there so I just took a pic of the ones in the pot.

soop Tue 01-Feb-22 16:44:10

muse You are a temptress. I am drooling. Thank heavens I cannot indulge. grin

Blossoming Snowdrops are one of my favourite flowers. I love their simple beauty and resilience. I received a card from Baggs today. It featured beautiful snowdrops.

corner Your anxious goddaughter will be on your mind until whatever it is that is troubling her has been resolved. If I had a magic wand, I would work wonders with it. flowers

The kitchen cupboards look neat and all the surfaces, some hidden, have been washed until they sparkle. Most satisfactory. That's enough for today. I am waiting for the washing machine to stop so that I can hang all of Sweetie Pie's bedding to dry. In the meantime, should she visit, she has a cosy dressing gown (that I no longer wear) to sleep on. wink

The wind continues to whip up the waves. I hope that our Kitcheners with problems caused by the storm, can look forward to services being restored pretty damn quick.

Away to enjoy a brew. Back with you all in the morrow. Group hugs for everyone who needs one. smile moon

‘Evening All’

Goodness it’s been a blustery day here. Brr! Sunny, but chilly. Himself has taken the Boy Wonder to his football practice and will be home in an hour. I have the oven on cooking roast pork and potatoes and the table is set for my beloved’s return. All I need to do now is tie a pretty pink ribbon in my hair ...

Doodle Tue 01-Feb-22 19:28:20

Pretty in pink Urms the domestic goddess. ?
Have a good day all

maddyone Tue 01-Feb-22 19:35:08

Urms hope you didn’t forget your frilly apron grin

maddyone Tue 01-Feb-22 19:38:54

Good news everyone. The bag has been reunited with its owner. She rang us up this afternoon to thank us and let us know she had it. In the end the apparently disinterested librarian came up trumps. She looked in the file and found the telephone number of the lady and rang her. So all’s well that ends well. I was very happy that the bag found its owner.

Have a nice evening everyone.
