That’s resonates BlueBalou. Mr C has finally agree to at least get quotes for some decorating here. Such a tussle to get to that point. I’ll sort the quotes and hope! Suspect Mr C will then change his mind and want to do it as he always has.

My colour change strategy has been to identity a short list of three or four, get tester pots, paint onto white paper or white cardboard at least A4 size and then fix around a room for a few days to see the colours in different lights.

Hope you can reach an amicable agreement, it’s wait and see time here. ?.

A light frost and a clear sky this morning has us planning a walk along the little river behind the bungalow. It’s a pleasant walk with decent paths, otherwise little on todays agenda.

Decorating does mean your rooms are topsy-turvy for a while but the benefit is when completed the rooms are clean and refreshed.
What colours make you feel happy BlueBalou. That’s how I choose wall colour and I like shades of blue as they remind me of the sea and the sky (and both make me happy).
And your DH should certainly take great care!

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Jan-22 10:29:26

I got three tester pots and put the paint around various walls, then lived with it for about three weeks BlueBalou
We had a friend, it’s his trade, who did it when we were away for a few days, bliss.

maddyone Sun 30-Jan-22 10:50:43

soop what a lovely hairdo, it really suits you.

SueDonim this I’d the second time you’ve had a power cut in the last few weeks, how awful for you. At least, as you say, you didn’t refill your freezer. At this rate, you probably need to wait till July to fill it again grin

It’s a beautiful day here on the south coast. Beautiful sunshine, but a thick frost.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Jan-22 11:18:32

Suedonim that's a pain in the posterior. Stay put til after Corrie has been and gone. I'm heading out in an hour for a very nice lunch with friends and then home before it hits. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Yiayia4 Sun 30-Jan-22 14:58:43

Keep safe all our Scottish grans, such terrible storms your having.

It’s been a lovely sunny day here and not very cold, just had a little walk along the river and lots of signs of spring.I’m hoping to start my diamond art again as soon as my hands are not so stiff I have really missed doing it.
GS enjoyed his ski lesson all smiles after. Now can’t wait to try the real thing in Austria. We’re all just hoping he escapes covid before he goes,it’s rife in his school.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Jan-22 15:31:25

Lunch! Haggis, neeps and tatties on whisky sauce, then roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with mash and assorted veg, then a trio of creme brulee. I'm now groaning on the couch. No need for dinner!

annodomini Sun 30-Jan-22 15:34:29

soop, you must be very cock-a-hoop, if, as I suspect, you have been keeping an eye on the ?Australian tennis?. A great morale booster for you. Best of luck for the rest of the week and yet another trip to Glasgow. Let's hope you're not a victim of the storms now battering Scotland. The trees here were lashing yesterday but today started sunny and is now back to being dismal and calm.

soop Sun 30-Jan-22 16:16:55

You lovely lot have amazing energy. Thank you for so many kind comments re the hair do. I am chuffed with it.

Hellogirl1
We said hello to David. Will do so again tomorrow.

Have finished a portrait gift for a friend. Image attached. It is time to put the easel away until I return home after surgery. The house needs a thorough early Spring clean. I also have a fairly busy few days with a variety of appointments. Bloods to be taken tomorrow in readiness for the infusion on Thursday. It's all go.

Have been watching the highlights of the Australian tennis final. Screaming instructions from my umpire's chair. Rafa lost the first two sets. I was hoarse by the time he won the championship in glorious style.

The wind has picked up after an overnight lull. Please stay safe and warm You are very special.

I shall return tomorrow. Tonight, at nine o'clock I shall raise a glass of G&T to you all. smile moon

Lovely photos, Thank you for sharing. XXX

TillyTrotter Sun 30-Jan-22 17:01:07

Brilliant portrait soop, one of your best!
It is sensible to concentrate just on you now, for the next little while. It will pay dividends! ?

Good afternoon dear kitcheners - the wind seems to rising here in the East Midlands as we get the (somewhat milder) after-effects of one the storms creating havoc. I met my friend for a coffee this morning - a lovely hour putting the world to rights ?. This afternoon I've wrapped up and sat outside with a cuppa and completed the RSPB bird watch. I usually try to do it - nice to sit out in the fresh air for a while and get back to nature, as the saying goes??. Although it was starting to get chilly by the time I came inside. Salmon is on the menu tonight which we always enjoy. Hope everyone has a very pleasant evening

brook2704 Sun 30-Jan-22 17:26:35

Oh no Sue not again! I hope your power is back on now and stays on despite Corrie. Hopefully there won’t be too much damage where you are
It’s been quite calm here in Inverness so far today although the wind is just picking up a bit now - we’re staying in now for the evening

brook2704 Sun 30-Jan-22 17:31:56

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a lovely afternoon with my dear stepfather. Not seen him since 6th January as we flew out to Spain the next day.

An enjoyable lunch then we Face Timed our Yorkshire Lass and partner. This, for him, still has the ‘wow’ factor. Chatting away, laughing and they way over the Pennines! He really likes the modern technology of it all, bless. As he said ‘a nice change from just a phone call’.

Grandmabatty that was some meal. I’d have loved to have pulled up a chair, it looked absolutely delicious!

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Jan-22 18:27:03

Your GS looks so joyous Yia I hope he gets to go.
I’m surprised you can move Grandmabatty what a feast, it would’ve defeated me.
A sunny, if chill day, had me dead heading in the garden, I was quite ruthless with the straggly herbs, we’ve not had any real rain for ages, sorry to those further north.
Stay safe those in the path of Corrie. I hope you can return home soon Sue, what a disturbance for you.
Have a pleasant evening all x

Blossoming Sun 30-Jan-22 19:47:57

Good evening dear Kitcheners. We had a lazy Sunday morning but after yesterday’s gargantuan feast we decided we needed to move so had a 2-mile walk this afternoon. It was really too far for me, I have a talent for biting off more than I can chew grin but I made it home and collapsed in a chair with a bottle of water while I recuperated. How I miss long distance all day hikes, sadly just a very distant memory now. The wind is getting up here, I hope all those further north are safe and hatches battened down. Sue how dreadful for you, I must check my Aberdeen family are OK. TOYA

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 30-Jan-22 20:07:25

Evening. The wind howling here . Worked the last three days .Had a great time. Will tackle housework over the next few days. Sorry things have been tough*Sue*.
Take care everyone. Getting nearer the day Soop... x

SueDonim Sun 30-Jan-22 21:27:59

Hi everyone. Just checking in from temporary accommodation. My DD’s in-laws have kindly offered us shelter from the storm again as we are unlikely to have power and comms services restored before Wednesday. Water has been out at times, as well, I’m told.

I brought the contents of the freezer with me to put in the freezer in this cottage. We’ve also brought our cat with us, he’s sticking very close by and wanting to be carried everywhere.

I can’t believe it’s all happening again, really. We’ve had many a storm over the years but now, it means every shuts down for days. It feels like we’re going backwards, not progressing as society. Some frail and unwell people living in sheltered accommodation have been left to their own devices, no wardens to care for them and they’re coping on their own with no power. The possible consequences don’t bear thinking about. sad

I hope no Grans are much affected by Corrie, which is currently making a lot of noise here. Sleep well, if you can! Xx

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Jan-22 21:54:13

Sorry to hear that Suedonim. It's getting wilder here in central Scotland now. Stay safe.

brook2704 Sun 30-Jan-22 22:27:49

Oh how awful that you’re going through that again Sue I really feel for you, and having to wait until Wednesday too, it must be so disruptive. I just hope everyone stays safe and the vulnerable have someone to look out for them
It’s windy here in Inverness with a few trees down but we’re lucky that the power has stayed on ok for now.

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Jan-22 22:34:07

soop please take it easy when doing an early spring clean because you do not want to raise your blood pressure. We must make sure you are in tip-top condition before the drop bot procedure.
TOYA

cornergran Sun 30-Jan-22 22:45:49

That’s truly bad luck sued. Pleased you’re warm and comfortable. Hope you get home soon.

maddyone Sun 30-Jan-22 23:14:46

Oh I’m sorry you’ve had to move out again SueDonim, your poor kitty must be very unsettled.
Grandmabatty that lunch looks delicious. We had beef today too, at our son’s house.
Goodnight everyone, sleep tight.

brook2704 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:51:11

Just popping into the kitchen to say hello and hope everyone is doing ok - Sue still thinking of you and hoping you get home soon
We woke up this morning to a light covering of snow but it’s gradually going, still a bit windy but not as bad as last night
My class at the gym was cancelled so I’m at a loose end and just pottering in town … going to M&S soon to see what I can find to eat later
Take care everyone
